Vanizi does continue on, hoping to find the warforged camp. She gives a glance to Zyl, hoping she and the others were willing to follow. "Zyl, you know how to find the place?"
Zyl smiled up at Davis as he reached for a brownie, gladly handing him one from somewhere before taking the lead, half walking, half fluttering around the area, searching for a path or anything to help them.
After an indeterminate number of hours, you finally spot a windmill in the distance - a sure sign that you have found Mercy's home. Before too long you are at the edge of Ialos, a small, ruined village with the towering windmill. The windmill’s sides and blades are reinforced with badly rusted steel plates, and the attached wooden outbuilding is in shambles. Muddy roads separate the mill from the ruined buildings. In the center of a nearby intersection stands an eroded stone statue of a humanoid draped in colorful scraps of cloth.
A warforged sentinel runs to notify the others in this place, and in only moments it seems the entire population stands ready to defend it. Mercy, the purple-hued leader, calls out to the others and tells them to stand down, and that you are not with The Turquoise Spear nor a threat to them. Mercy welcomes you to the village and gives you a quick tour of place. (See the spoiler)
Founder’s Statue. Colorful scraps of fabric drape over the shoulders and outstretched arm of this statue. The warforged pilgrims decorated the statue of Ialos’s founder as a gesture of respect; they are grateful to the village’s original builders for creating this space they can use to mourn.
Ruins. Except for the mill, every building in Ialos was destroyed on the Day of Mourning. Broken stone and rotten timber lie strewn about the village.
Mill. The millstones have been removed from this mill, leaving an empty space. The pilgrims use the mill to plan expeditions and rest out of the elements.
Ossuary. Bodies of deceased warforged line this cleared-out basement. Each body is carefully secured to the wall in a dignified pose: back straight, arms crossed, and head slightly lowered.
Storeroom. The storeroom contains curiosities and trinkets salvaged from Mournland ruins. Some of these items had magical properties until the Day of Mourning destroyed their magic. The storeroom’s notable 'treasures' include:
Art Objects. Clean tapestries, intact sculptures, and leather-wrapped oil paintings are carefully piled in a corner of the storeroom. An iron ring etched with angelic feathers hangs from a silver chain on the wall.
Docents. Half a dozen metal orbs line one shelf, but only one appears functional. These items were taken from the area’s ruined colossi.
Mercy says that you are welcome to rest in the empty area of the windmill, but there is no food here...(How do you want to handle Mercy and the pilgrims? What do you want to tell them?)
Vanizi greets Mercy. "Good to see you again. Glad we found the place, thanks to Zyl's navigating prowess!" She looks around at the ruined buildings a moment, seeing the windmill at least is intact. "Very kind of you to offer us shelter. I should tell you we ran into an orc and a couple of halflings earlier. They wanted us to help them attack you, though obviously we refused. I can't help but think they will try something. But I hope we warned them off."
"Yes, those warmongers came to steal our sacred treasures, but we frightened them off. We keep watch in case they return. We thank you for choosing to see our truth and value our new partnership." Mercy responds to Vanizi. Although warforged do not express emotion, they seem genuine and appreciative.
"Oh yeah, it's not bad you know? Like you just find the direction and start walking!" Zyl smiles at Vanizi and heads up to the ruins, giving a little wave to Mercy. "Hey we're glad to do it purple metal lady. If they come around we'll gladly smash 'em up for you just let us know okay? Okay. So, what's for dinner?" Zyl looks at the rest of the group. "We should probably pick a spot to rest too yeah?"
"The others are looking for something valuable to sell. If you have any items that they find valuable, and you do not consider sacred, perhaps you could offer it to them as a peace offering? A way to avoid any unnecessary conflict? Just a thought."
"Would it be possible to look at one of you Docents? As we mentioned, we're hoping it will point us to the missing item we are here to find."
"What more can you tell us of them?" Vesta asks. She is curious to learn more about this world's people and its history. "You called them warmongers. What have they done?"
(For ease in storytelling, let's say you are all in the storeroom where the treasures and docents are located when you have this conversation =)
Mercy looks at Davis and seems to consider his question about valuable items, and then his request to use a Docent. They look at the various art items and nod. "We did not know the Cyrans were destitute. The Docents, and any other items intended for warforged use, are sacred and belong in the hands of warforged who fought in the Last War. However, we could trade these other items," Mercy indicates the tapestries, sculptures, and paintings, "with the Cyrans in return for their peaceful withdrawal and perhaps cooperation. If you can get them to agree to this, then we will allow you to use a docent for your search."
Vanizi glances at Davis. "I suppose that means we will have to find those folks again. But your idea was a really good one. Help out those folks and maybe get them to not attack these warforged!" She looks at Zyl. "You can get us back to find that orc, right?"
Speaking to Mercy, she also adds, "And thank you for your willingness to trade these items. This is a great decision."
Zyl hops up. "Oh yeah! I mean we found them once right? I can totally find them again." She beamed up at Vanizi. "Unless our purple metal friend has a way to find them easier yeah?"
Because you have just come from the Cyran camp, it takes a little less time to return with the valuable art pieces. However, this is still the Mournland, with the never-ending mists and seemingly ever-shifting landscape. Kalyth, the orc leader, once again speaks for the small group.
"So yer back. Did you get lost, or did you reconsider our deal?"

"Oh yeah, sure," Zyl answers swallowing the last bit of brownie, "We definitely totally go this way!" She'll start walking off in a random direction.
(Survival: 9, even at a +6 it's at disadvantage)
Davis is a bit unsure about letting the Fairy lead, but in this strange place, perhaps Zyl is the best choice. He reaches out to Zyl for a brownie.
