Wow. Never had rolls this good. Made me check which were ability score restrictions for the classes back in the day --not that I think you enforce them but just for curiosity-- and because I feel I shouldn't try to maximize these rolls. Seems Paladin and Bards (which appeared in a 1E support document but we can't play them, right?) have the highest requirements and with this I went with Paladin.
Link: https://www.dndbeyond.com/characters/142400795 Name: Luqen Ronnan Species: High Elf Class: Paladin (Oath of Harvest if extended Rules are allowed) Background: Merchant Description: Luqen Ronnan is a high elf paladin of the Harvest, a former merchant turned warrior who wields twin blades with precision and purpose. Tall and lean, he moves with practiced grace, favoring studded leather armor for mobility but carrying a shield when caution is required. His keen intellect and silver tongue reflect years spent navigating trade and diplomacy, while his piercing gaze and calm demeanor hint at a wisdom beyond mere commerce. Though trained in battle, he seeks to prevent harm before it begins, embodying a presence that is both commanding and reassuring. His faith and discipline shape every action, making him as much a guardian as a healer, ever prepared to turn blade or kindness to whatever the moment demands.
Hate to spoil the fun because I love the character, but for this one we're going by the old school rule of assigning the ability scores in order of what you rolled!
STR: 7
DEX: 11
CON: 11
INT: 11
WIS: 13
CHA: 13
That, of course, doesn't include your +1/+2 attribute bonuses. Still, I know that leave you with a pretty wobbly set of stats... but if anyone can make it work, you can Twomb!
D’oh! I don’t know how I missed that! I don’t think I can make that work with the character I was imagining. Have to withdraw Neri, good luck everyone!!

Yeah, it's the way the first games I was in were played. You've got to wait to see the rolls before thinking about what character fits the rolls. You were hoping to play a wizard, but you rolled an INT that was way too low. And that would sometimes inform the character's background. Like a high DEX, high CHA rogue charlatan who pretends to be a wizard!
Not the way that I prefer to play these days, but it can be a fun exercise to build characters that way once in a while. 🙂
This makes a really nice stat line for a classic elf: DEX-based fighter (Eldritch knight) or a fighter/wizard multiclass (assuming that's allowed). It also works well for a gnome rogue (Arcane Trickster) or wizard.
@MAOShea - I just noticed that this game is going to be played on Discord, which probably won't work for me. If I decide to give it a go, I'll come back and fill out a full character submission.
Will work something up with these numbers. I tried doing this for a campaign a couple of years ago and people got into a debate on the application thread, it was crazy! I wasn't as clear as you are, but I thought that this was how it was done when I started!
Name: Quilby Flickerspark Species: Gnome Class: Wizard Background: Sage Backstory: Quilby is a young gnome, but was gifted from the start. As other young gnomes were busy crafting gadgets or playing tricks, Quilby spent his early years solving magical puzzles, memorizing complex spell matrices, and impressing elders with his quick wit. His mind worked faster than most, allowing him to pick up advanced magic far sooner than his peers. Quilby knew better than to engage in drawn-out battles, he relied on speed, wit, and misdirection to outmaneuver foes. At least in his mind he did.
Emery was a guide for a now closed down, but famous rare metal mine. He would take paying customers on a guided journey underground, to see the the great diamond fields, now devoid of diamonds, the undergrown fire lake, the two story troll guard house, and many other wonderful places. But after the collapse of the Peekcliff tunnel where many peopled died, Emery has decided it is time for a change. A new job, perhaps. A quick adventure to make a lot of money to build himself a little hut on a cliffside, now that sounds better!
PLEASE!!! let this OG take another run at these. It's been 40 YRS since I've seen these! (I don't care if this dates me! Hahaha) Don't worry I've forgotten more than I remember about these.

I'm gonna leave this as a place holder and update it as I get things rolled up.

Interested but I am a bit confused on the VTT part. How is that going to work with Discord?

Also a few more questions about character creation. Is multiclassing and Feats allowed?
