While Exa looks for the concealed door, Kyreth moves around the room checking the guest tables, occasionally moving a place mat or straightening an imaginary crease. More importantly he notes the location of the display cases, their contents and any apparent security alarms or locks.
Kyreth notices that the open to air displays were trapped. He could see arcane writing surrounding the base, he recognises it as a locking spell. The small pedestals looked like pressure traps, as long as something was substituted of the same weight they'd be good.
Althea had mentioned poison so the pressure traps were most likely poisoned needles. They'd need care. He looked carefully at the star sapphire ring, did it really contain a genie?
He wandered amongst the tables looking for the card saying Lady Graham, once found he swapped it for a table nearer Mavilius.
Kyreth looked at the lute. It was a beautiful thing maybe he should swop it now whilst it was in a blindspot.
Exa, usually a creature of supreme confidence, was unsure of her deft fingers and her lock picks after the kerfuffle upstairs, so she opts to try the strange key the High Cleric provided. She glances back behind her to ensure she's alone before checking for any alarmed or trapped plates or mechanisms. Should it seem safe, she attempts the locked door.
As far as Exa can see and hear, she is quite alone. She can however hear Mavilius singing. There are no traps or alarms on the cleaning closet. Best to open the way out of the Gemstone Wing now, as it may be of use later.
The key fits and she turns it, the door opened easily showing an array of cabinets with glittering ore and fake gemstones arranged in a velvet backed display case (V9). She deftly moves back and takes the mop and bucket out of the small hallway and tucks it next to the exhibit.
"I see, the minstrel will be seated with the nobility then..."The young dark-haired lady says with an amused smile. "...at least I will not have a dull time at the table then." "And my little friend is already seated in the Allosaurus by now I would expect, the greatest threat to our success being him not able to stop himself from starting the show too early." She adds with a small smile. "I'm sure all will go well in the end though Althea, I am quite satisfied with the mask and ready to leave for the gala."
The four of you being near each other and managing the panic is a good idea. She sighs. I'm glad that Thistle got back to the Museum unseen.
Cassee will be waiting in the alley from 10 bells, with a security escort from the Temple. If you finish before then, head for the Sage's Quill, we will be there.
We've half a bell before the carriage arrives, would you care for a drink?
Noticing that he and the coveted lute are in a blind spot, the tiefling looks towards Kyreth, improvising some lyrics that subtly hint at taking action now. He weaves a bit of prestidigitation into his playing, making tiny fireworks appear around the Doss Lute, and plays some inspirational notes.
Catching Mavilius' eye and nodding, Kyreth moves into the blind spot. Drawing the old lute from the bag he carefully swaps it with the Doss lute, taking care not to trip the trap. He slides the Doss lute into the bag and casually moves back to checking the tables, giving the slightest of nods to Mavilius.

"Perfect," the tabaxi whispers as the door opens, revealing a way out should they need it. She scoots back along to the gemstone wing to see how the others are fairing.
Her attention is now on their primary goal. She will inspect the egg's display, looking for the best angle from which to make the swap when the time comes.
"Ah yes please, and while we have some time alone I would love to hear more about current affairs in the city and if there is anything that the temple would need taken care of once the museum situation has been dealt with."The young dark-haired lady says with calm confidence.
Kyreth stows away the lute with its case, being careful not to make a noise. Mavilius' old lute looks fine on the pedestal. He picks up the small card from the exhibit and hands it to Mavilius.
Exa slips near to the egg on display being certain to make it look innocent just in case a guard looks that way.
The display stand has arcane writing on it which comes up the side of the pedestal and around the egg. This also looks like a pressure trap. Exa is glad about the jade jewel that they have for swopping, though the task would need two people to do. This would have to wait until the Allosaurus went wild. She continues to look around the exhibits under glass a few choice gemstones catch her eye, especially the sapphire cabinet.
Exa crosses the wing to stand near Kyreth. In case the guards are looking, she feigns readjusting a decoration or one of the table settings, making sure it was "just so" for the guests.
"It will take both of us to make the switch with the egg. Be ready when the distractions kicks off. The door in the cleaning corridor is unlocked if we need it to bounce," she says to her partner in crime.
She then moves back to the case of emeralds, the one she had seen on her way in, knowing it would be out of sight of the guards. She looked for a way to get the cabinet open without triggering any alarms or traps.
The emeralds were originally from a necklace and are a fine array of stones, a deep dark green. The glass lid is secured by a tiny lock, with no traps as far as Exa can see, the lid has hinges that appear slightly rusted so you'd need the oil from the thieves kit to open them safely without the guards hearing. She gets the glass gemstone fakes from her pocket. There are 9 green glass ones and she only needs 7.
If you decide to open the case give me a sleight of hand roll (advantage)
Her neat little lock picks are in her hands almost before she can think about it. She gets to work on the lock, frequently casting a glance back toward the entry to make sure she isn't interrupted at an awkward moment.
If the lock opens, she tips a drop or two of oil onto the hinges to keep them nice and quiet for her pilfering.
A look at the hour candle shows it is nearly 5 and a half bells.
Students chatter in the hallway as they go to their allocated places. It is nearly time for Kyreth to go down to the Entrance Hall to await Lady Graham. He needs to find a hiding place for the bag of holding. Perhaps under the table where Delilah will sit.
There is just enough time for Exa to open the case before the other wine server arrives.
Delilah and Althea walk to the carriage, Delilah notices that it has a coat of arms on the side.
Before she loses the chance, Exa quickly exchanges her cheap little trinket 'gems' for the priceless jewels in the cabinet, a toothy grin on her face the entire time. Once done she ensures the cabinet is closed again, as if it had never been touched, and she takes up a position near the dining tables.
"Oh dear, that must hurt, being a faithful tricked by a con man. It seems to me that a proper retribution would be to trick the gold right back, unless this transgression needs to be dealt with more harshly."The young dark-haired lady says as she sips her drink.
As she and Althea walks out to the waiting carriage she takes a closer look at the coat of arms, not expecting to recognize it but she suspects it can be the Graham's. The masked church clearly had much useful resources to draw upon which was good to know for future endeavours.
Kyreth slides the bag under the table for Delilah to find. On his way out he passes Exa and whispers "The bag is under the table for Delilah, and it now has the magic lute in it" out loud he says "I'm off to escort Lady Graham. I think we've done all we can for now. Hopefully nobody will complain about the tables, but who can tell with the nobility."
Althea sits next to Delilah in the coach. She nods gravely, the con man is a Zhent, a gnome gambler. He opened the Afterlife Casino with his ill gotten gains. I'm not sure what the Golden Vaults interest in this is. As for us, we often clean up Zhentarim actions. Tonight being one of them.
When we get to the Museum please alight first when the footman puts the step down. I don't plan to be seen.

Althea paused then decided to disclose another problem to Delilah.
Have you ever been in the Afterlife Casino? They host the three-dragon-ante tournament with a sizable purse and a winners gold statue of an erinyes.
One of the faithful had her life savings stolen by the con man who built the casino, and she wants it back.
