As Selene glides toward Smithy’s table, Mavilius rises, smoothing his jacket and slinging his lute into place with practiced ease. He steps onto the small stage without so much as a word, drawing the room’s attention with the simple weight of his presence.
With a flourish of his fingers across the strings, he launches into a rousing, playful tune—just lively enough to energize the room, but not so loud as to drown out conversation. His voice cuts through with warmth and charm, the lyrics coy and full of double meaning. It’s the kind of performance that encourages laughter, loosened lips, and perhaps a few too many drinks—all the better for Selene’s inquiries. And all the while, Mavilius keeps an ear tuned to the rhythm of the room…and one eye, of course, on her.

Bardic Inspiration (1d6) on Selene
Once within the next hour when the creature fails a D20 Test, the creature can roll the Bardic Inspiration die and add the number rolled to the d20, potentially turning the failure into a success. A Bardic Inspiration die is expended when it’s rolled.
Smithy grunts and eyed Selene. She was beautiful enough to be out of his league normally. He puffs up his chest to seem bigger than he was ands pushes his chair back dismissing the other two Zhents.
I'm head of Security at the Afterlife, I know all about it, see it in the mirrors all the time. You're pretty enough to get a job there. Like all casinos the House wins most of the time. We've got a Grand Opening Tournament soon.
"So you are the boss? I had a sense you were someone of importance. Some men just have that confident air about them that I find so attractive." The cute tiefling girl says with calm confidence and a plesasant smile. "And thank you, I might consider that, but for now I have come here too see if your Casino is somewhere some of my quite affluent friends back in Baldur's Gate would want to visit and spend their wealth at. I already know they will love the theme but I'm supposed to find out if the place is safe enough for them to visit. Some places of gambling tend to draw the attention of those who would prey on my patriar friends' wealth and we wouldn't want that." She goes on, leaning forwards slightly over the table, her golden eyes still looking into his.
As she hears the sweet tunes from Mavilius' lute the cute tiefling girl's smile brightens and she gracefully stands up, offering her slender hand to Smithy. "Dance with me, and I will listen as you tell me more of your intriguing casino. You mentioned something about some mirrors?" She says, ready to take the larger tiefling onto the dance floor to keep him as good company as is needed to make him share as much as possible. She also tries to determine how likely he would be to help her with a small favour at some later point.
He gives her a toothy grin and hold out his arm, come let's dance! Selene takes his arm and they join others in the lively jig.
My casino has the best security arrangements, though we have a place for one more mirror viewer, we are all Zhentarim, he says proudly showing her his badge. You'd like the mirrors, they are enchanted in pairs to show whats going on. We have a viewing room.
Your friends would be safe. They won't have the issue of carrying around coin either, in the Casino we only use our own chips, gold is magically sent to the Vault and the corresponding number of chips are given by our cashiers.
There is something for everyone at Afterlife slots, cards, rat races, a circus and even a luxury spa!
Here let's grab another drink so we can sate our thirst and then dance again.
"So you are a zhentarim too, I should have known, my friends have done much lucrative business with the Black Network."The cute tiefling girl says with admiration in her tone. "And your casino really has something for everyone then, I'm impressed, I have some other business to attend to but I will be sure to make a visit there myself before returning to Baldur's Gate."She adds, following Smithy to have another drink. "So, what about the owner of your casino, what kind of boss is he? Do you have the eyes on his position yet?" She says quietly with a slightly teasing smile as she moves closer to the larger tiefling.
Quentin? He's all right, he gets to know everyone and takes unscripted turns around the Casino. Having the Tournament trophy on display is really sparking interest with the high rollers, apart from two tables set aside for the tournament of course, we're packed.
He checks the money in the vault regularly to make sure no-one is trying to disenchant the chests of coins that our cashiers use. He has a secret, though I'm not sure that I should tell you or not. He has just acquired an animated skeleton of a Minotaur. Only he has access to the control rod. He tucks it in his left drawer.
Smithy gulps down another ale, thirsty work dancing.
"Oh, the only thing my friends needs to know is that I am confident that you have a tight security at the casino, and so far you have left me with nothing to worry about." The cute tiefling girl says, taking a sip of her ale. "I assume you have made sure that trophy is well protected too. My guess is that you and your boss is the only one who have access to it?" She conitinues with a pleasant smile. "And what do you mean disenchant? Now you make me curious. I must say I'm impressed with all the security measures you have taken." She adds with a cute giggle.
The trophy is secured by a magical pass card and a pressure trap. Quentin in the only one who can get to the Trophy and the Vault with his master pass card.
He takes a big swig, he rather liked this pretty Teifling. The boxes magically take gold from the 4 cashiers chests and exchange it for chips. Nice piece of magic that. Makes it very difficult for a thief. As he gulps down the last of his ale, his hand shakes, and eyes close as he starts mumbling, he has drunk too much, too quickly. The other two Zhents at the bar grab hold of him and drag him upstairs to his room.
The door opened and Karlton Keyes walked through. The enchanted cash box idea would be of interest to him in his own planned casino. He was a man for Lilith to watch.
The cute tiefling girl pouts playfully as Smithy is dragged off to his room. He had been most helpful though and she had much to share with her associates. Taking note of Karlton Keyes, Selene would pass by the minstrel to give him a graceful curtsy and a plesasant smile for his entertainment before retiring to their room.
As the team is gathered she would share all the information that Smithy kindly had provided them with before he passed out. "Apparently there is a spot open in the security room Kyreth, yours for the taking it would seem."She says with an amused smile. "We'll see if we will have any further use of that one." She finishes and returns to her fey form.
The bard continues his performance long enough for it not to be suspicious when he must bid adieu. He collects his tips before heading to meet the others with a yawn.
"'Animated Minotaur Skeleton'? If we can get that control rod, it could be a real show-stopper."
"This could become our signature move. Someone uses that rod to make the Minotaur cause a ruckus while the rest of us use the chaos as cover to take the statue from the case," Exa suggests with her familiar toothy grin.
"I love the way you are thinking my friends, we should definitely try to use that minotaur skeleton to our advantage. We would need that rod from Quentin's drawer though, and the master pass card of course. It seems we should perhaps even take Quentin out of play anyway, and if we do I suppose one of us could turn into Quentin and use the rod to bring out the minotaur skeleton from the vault, bring it through the casino causing havoc and into Cania where our Quentin simply uses the master pass card to walk away with the erinyes statuette. We would leave the real Quentin to explain what had happened at his casino." The dark-haired lady muses with an mischievous smile.
"Made some new friends of your own dearest?" The dark-haired lady says quietly from her bed, allowing the charming minstrel to take care of his mysterious visitor.
The pink tiefling raises an eyebrow before putting on his usual charming smile. Giving Delilah a wink, he heads to answer the door, curious to see who it might be.
"Indeed. What can I do for you at this late hour?"
I was instructed to give you thisby High Cleric Althea, he hands over a small bag, it might make you job easier. It contains a potion of sleep and one of invisibility. Use it well he says.
