As Zertell and Capacuana began moving westward, Arden rose from beside the fallen kenku, brushing the dust from his gauntlets. He adjusted the strap on his shield and gave Levi a firm, reassuring nod. “Aye, mate. I’m ready. Just watch my back, would ya?”
With axe in hand and a quiet resolve in his step, Arden fell in line behind the others.
Levi falls in line at the end of the groups marching order.
The group head towards the pillar room straight ahead lead by Capacuana. At the west end of a 20-foot-wide hall stairs descend 10 feet to a room lined with pillars. Similar staircases descend into the room from 10-foot-wide tunnels leading north, west, and south. Eleven pillars are in the room.
The skeleton of a giant constrictor snake coils up the top half of the northernmost pillar.
The words “Certain death this way!” are carved in Common on the southeast wall, with an arrow pointing toward the southern exit.

Capacuana takes the opportunity to consult with her companions. She pulls out the map (OOC - I believe everyone has a copy from msg #61) and points to the large room in the north-east. "Let's go there. It looks like a throne room." If her companions agree, she will add, "There will be a short hall with a door just to our right as we head north. Let's make sure that room is clear before moving further into the dungeon."
The team decide on a plan of action..Moving down the north stairs 30ft to the east corridor and to the door. Levi looks it over and doesn't spot anything and it's not locked. He open the door and lets the others in.
Sword Stand. An unadorned wooden armor stand rests in the middle of the room, with a faintly glowing longsword stabbed into it. At the base of the stand lie the skeletal remains of a hand, amid stains of dried blood.
Distant Voices. Echoes of distant voices occasionally fill the room, emanating from 10-inch-long, 5-inch wide vents in the ceiling.
The Secret Door. A secret door leading south is obvious from this side. It has two eye-holes bored into it at a height of 5 feet, allowing a creature to peer into the 20x70ft long hallway beyond.

Could someone see if this sword is safe? It looks like it could be something interesting to take with us. Capacuana looks around to see if there is some way to block the peep holes - clay or even some straw or pebbles might work. Her intent is to make it more difficult for someone or something to spy on them.

Levi replies, "I unfortunately don't have anything to test the item. I can Long rest and see gain a few spells in case the sword is cursed."
"Perhaps Arden or Zertell might be able to tell."
"I do not think anything we do to those eyes or peep holes are going to stay. We could cover it with a cloth. We'd need a way to keep it in place kind of without sticking through so it doesn't stick out like a sore eye."

Capacuana pulls out the pants from her common clothes stash in her haversack and carefully wraps the glowing sword without touching skin to the sword. Assuming no bad results, she then affixes it to the outside of the haversack. She considers Levi's thoughts on the peep holes and decides they are wise. "You are correct. Let's leave it. We ready to go?" If there are no objections, Capacuana will lead the way out of the room and turn right to go north (stealth 15, 17). When they come to the intersection, she will turn left/west to travel to investigate the single room at the end of that corridor.

You stash the sword successfully, then move out to a location you have selected on the map. Trying to be quiet as you go.
At the end of a long hall is a 50-foot-square room with five pillars made of mortared humanoid bones, painted black.
I will need stealth checks from everyone except Capacuana who already rolled (15/17 not sure why two rolls). Levi is super sneaking 29
Capacuana spotted a tentacled creature in the north west alcove trying to hide, but Capacuana picks them out. Zertell right behind hears a second tentacle creature in the western alcove as he gets to the opening to the room and sees a tentacle flit our just so briefly. Arden and Levi bringing up the rear aren't quite to the opening to the room.

Zetell knows the information below about the Grell. No body else does unless Zertell shares it.
A grell resembles a bulbous floating brain with a wide, sharp beak. Its ten long tentacles are made of hundreds of ring-shaped muscles sheathed in tough fibrous hide. Sharp barbs line the tip each tentacle and inject paralytic venom. The grell can partially retract its barbs into its tentacles to handle or manipulate objects it doesn’t want to pierce or tear.
Grells have no eyes and floats by means of a sort of levitation. They have keen hearing, however, and their skin is sensitive to vibrations and electrical fields, allowing them to detect the presence of creatures and objects in their immediate vicinity. The creature’s ability to manipulate electricity to sense and move also allow it to absorb lightning without harm.
Although solitary by nature, grells sometimes gather in small groups called covens.
They use a poison to paralyze it's prey they ambush. Their tentacles will grapple and poison the prey. They have blindsight with no eyes.
They are alerted to you with as Arden's armor rattles a bit.

“I can mage hand and see what happens. Although i think the severed hand on flor is a clue ….”
Zertell using his mage hand cantrip and grasps the sword pulling it out. It sheds dim light in a 10-foot radius.
Levi says, "Ok wrap it up so you don't touch it until we can figure out what it is maybe?"
