The second soldier bursts into a ball of flame, crumpling into ash on the floor. His weapons too charred to be of any use in combat even if he were alive. His scream was agonizingly loud, but the waterfall drained it.

the elite seemed totally unprepared for that sort of attack, the bells chiming around him, seeming to decay him. Parts of his flesh tore from his body, and deep festering wounds appeared. His right arm falling off completely as it practically rotted to the bone. The Elite was still, however standing. Tired, scored, and bleeding in several spots. But he still seemed ready to face these iblith.
I have taken an extra 6Hp off of him for a critical failed save.
Her chin swelling up with a bruise that will probably turn into a beautiful shade of purples and reds, Crispy spins around the chaos and tries to plant her blades one more time in the Elite Drow:
Chubby is standing right next to Crispy when she made her viscous but apparently unsuccessful attacks against their mutual enemy. "Aim for its back, luv! His back!"
He then demonstrates by swinging right for the Elite soldier's head....anatomy was never Chubby's strong suit.
Attack: 15 Damage: 6
...and apparently Chubby only manages to trim a stray hair from the Elite guard's beautifully coiffed head.
"Who is your stylist?" ooof.... "You need a new one!"
No one would accuse the Chubster of being witty...

The drow takes a minor cut from the rogue, before managing to parry the attack from Chubby. His sword flowing with the parry, in an attempt to stab Chubby, though only managing a 'slice' against his arm.
Cade had collapsed all but immediately from the crossbow bolt. 'Nonononono!'He thought, looking back at the damage. After his first instinctive reaction to try and pull out elicits only sharp pain, a frantic Cade began looking around for a dagger while silently cursing himself for dropping the stone one earlier. 'Not going back, can't go back, not going back, can't going back, they won't--' His thoughts stop abruptly there feeling green wave passing over him.
Quickly realizing what happen, his relief just sharply turns to shame. '... I musn't run away'Cade struggles back to his feet, and with grim determination hurls both of his axes at the weakened Elite. The first aimed for his remaining arm at the shoulder, and the second aimed straight for his head.

The elite stood his ground. Apparently too prideful to retreat and call for help. He takes a moment, and gazes over each and every one of their faces. "You inferior beings can ... only take me.. down as a pack. I could have taken each and every one of you down, without breaking a sweat if the odds weren't so heavily in your favor... you are nothing more than a horde of mindless wretches, clawing to drag down the greatness of your betters, PAH" he spits at chubby, being the nearest.

Then, slashing into a stab at Chubby. (Multiattack)
Attack Roll:21 Damage: 8
Attack Roll:15 Damage: 10
Despite his disadvantage, the drows blows strike true, the slash digging deep into chubby's chest, while the stab buried itself deep into his gut, just above the arrow. Chubby would fall to the ground, dying.
Merlin, please roll your first death saving throw. Remember your inspiration.
I wouldn't normally call this out, but since NPC's and PC's have different ways of 'dying' someone must successfully stabilize him before he throws a total of 3 failed death saves. He will self-stabilize if he gets 3 successful saving throws. Which means you have a maximum of 5 rounds to save him. NPC's you only have the round immediately after the NPC is dying.
Also I forgot to subract the +4 from one of the attacks as it was a slash, but he will still end up taking 15 of his 11 potential HP.
This will be the ONLY time I remind you about stabilizing your fellow party members, mainly due to the high difficulty and low level in this first chapter.
The Elite yanking his sword free from chubby's gut.

The situation was deteriorating fast. One after the other prisoner collapsed under the relentless attacks of the drow warrior. The blood of the soldiers who's skull was crushed was beginning to harden, caking the floor in red-black. His organs having been-re-arranged to spell "Diinkarazan."The other a pile of ashes on the floor, his gear no longer usable by anyone not skilled in the blacksmiths trade, and completely untenable to try in your current situation. The prisoners all collapse to the side of the drow, tired, some of them bleeding, all of them sweating..shaking. The corpse of Stool lying in the middle of the room, apparently tossed about during the scuffle.
Now, given the chance to look around you will all see that there are various weapons here, atleast 20 of each: Short Swords, Daggers, Crossbows, and sickles hung on the walls. You also see that there are a few items that seem to stand alone, including a single Greatsword, and Pike hung near the corner.
There are also a few sets of Leather Armor, a single set of Chain Mail. Near these are four simple-looking Shields.
You see the door you came in form, and the door that leads elsewhere, The table in the center having gotten knocked over during the scuffle but taking no significant damage, a testament to how sturdy the wood was.
Given Crispy's rude awakening, you figure your group has roughly four to five hours before the next guard shift change. The druid, warlock, and cleric feel a strange tingle in the back of their minds, as if someone.. familiar was calling out to them from far away, something or someone they knew well. They couldn't feel it before, but they seem stronger now, making the connection less tenuous.
Everyone, having defeated a powerful foe has gained a level. This increase in strength, for the casters, allows them to feel the calls of their patrons, re-establishing the connection that had been lost previously, and allowing them to gain what they should already have. Some of you are now level 3, make your path choices. and please list them in a spoiler on your next post. (in the druids case, if he has no specific patron, feels the call of nature itself.)
When and if you decide to take a Medium, or short rest, if you have access to spells, you may change them now, on top of adding any new ones your ascended level may allow.
During this time, I will allow the groups healers to heal the injured, and still take a short rest to regain 1 spell slot, if your slots are oddly numbered, you regain by rounding up (I.E 3 spell slots you would regain 2).
This is only available during medium or greater rest periods.
Yes, a medium rest is DM personal flare choice, and does not normally exist.
To put it simply, taking a medium rest is a half-measure. And therefore you get half-benefits. So if a long rest would grant you back 10 spell slots, but you instead take a medium rest, you regain 5, instead of 10. And short rests will only ever regain 1 spell slot.
TL;DR
Short Rest allows you to heal via: Dice roll based on your classes Hit die + Constitution modifier. Regain 1 spell slot/ability charge (like Barbarians Rage). Rearrange spells.
Medium Rest allows you to heal via Dice Roll, based on your classes Hit die + Constitution modifier rolled twice adding the total. Regain Half of your Spell Slots or half of your Ability charges, rounded up. Rearrange spells. Postpone further exhaustion levels.
Long Rest Allows you to fully heal. Regain ALL spell slots/ability charges. Rearrange spells. Reduce Exhaustion by 1 Rank.
I will post this in the public notes for ease of access.
What do you do now.
This is once again freetime, however, every round will take up to 30 minutes, to an hour of time of time.
anything in here is up for grabs. it's up to YOU and your party to distribute who gets what. However when you pick somehting up, please list it at the bottom, and ROLL Perception (Investigation) and a 1d100.

Despite temptations, Cade only breathes a sigh of relief once the final drow falls to the ground instead of collapse himself. After giving the others quick glance to count the dead and living, he goes to retrieve his original axes, gives them a quick once over, and then finally moves on to the next set of doors without so much as a backward glance (unless someone stops him). Otherwise, after peeking outside just to make sure the coast was clear first, he steps out... and closes the door behind him.
