"Hey, I rather enjoyed it. It was still better than what we had been eating in that camp for so many years,"Folzi says with a big smile and clasping Nicknack on the back.
"Ha! Why they were established doesn't much matter anymore. The empire has brainwashed many for so long - no offence," the gnome says to Hrian and Pat, "into thinking that us non-divine are a the threat." The gnome begins to toss the coin of the Traveler in his hand. "It's going to be hard to convince these wardens here otherwise, I'd imagine. Though a little jailbreak does sound fun. I've got some pent up energy from not getting to blow those pirates up!" His eyes shift excitedly to the other party members. Then looking to the sky he gets a concerned look."I just hope those dragons haven't made their way here yet."
(DM: I imagine Folzi knows much of the history of why they were established? History, if needed 28
Do Hrain and Pat know how big the garrisons are here, approximate number of troops in each?)
Folzi knows the camps established after the the Dragon Cult blew up Caorthann with much of the Royal family and council in their failed attempt to raise their leader to Godhood. This magical explosion creating something like the White Waste which is a tear in the Weave in Caorthann. The magically inert area is further south of the island in the mountains in Caorthann. The island is like a breaker between the two Weave tear old and the new. ALL magic users and magic heritage folks got blamed for the cults malignancy within the magical community. The current Emperor Aurelian having established the camps as holding areas for the non-divinely gifted in magic not having the heart or stomach to execute everyone as his council attempted. There are four camps in total but the White Waste was the largest and held the most people who are now dead. The locations of the other camp are SoT secret knowledge even within their own ranks to prevent group insurrection.
Father Pat says to Folzi "nah I spent most of my time in other parts of the empire so I don't know much about the garrisons up in this part of the world!"
"Growing up in the camp I never had much reason to leave, I'm not much use here I'm afraid." Hrain looks towards the settlement as he speaks "We cannot spend the rest of our lives hiding in forests and caves, we have to see what the world knows of this business we have found ourselves in. Obviously Pat and I are what we are, no one will mistake us dressed as we are and we can afford a certain respect wherever we go under normal circumstances, I don't honestly know how you will be treated here for being non-humans let alone casters, which won't immediately be apparent, Lyra should be fine unless carefully scrutinised."

"Oh, don't you worry about me. I know how to hide in the shadows well enough. Who do you think was stealing your ration every Tuesday?" Folzi says with a chuckle. "So, are you two going to go check things out at your temples? Guess the three of us need to find somewhere to lay low. Though between the two of us,"he points to himself and Nick, "I think we have some ways for all of us to remain hidden."
Turning to Lyra he looks her over. "I hope that black flecks you have don't shine too much in the sun."
Before heading out, Folzi checks to make sure that his magical abilities are not affected in this new locale by summoning his mage hand.
"I agree, we could ride on, it wo t take long to call them back and we don't risk getting stuck on our boat with these troublesome gnomes." He gives Folzi a wink and then pauses "Funny how things change, isn't it."

"I don't know what you're talking about there, Tusk-tooth. I'm in my prime!" Folzi laughs and smacks Pat in the thigh with his little fist. "So where do y'all think the best place is to stay out of sight and wait for you two to check things out?"
OOC: hahaha tusk-tooth. So uh what's up guys? Over land on horseback? So where are the casters hiding? What are the gnomes (an enslaved race) doing to keep from being taken? Lyra is dragonic in nature so she's pretty noticeable too in the magic user department. Disguises? What's the plan to move forward from the beach?
The party's deliberations have seen enough time pass that Niska and the kids are off the beach. The waves lap against the boat amd night begins to fall around the party. It's dusk but the light will only hold out another 1/2 hour or so before it's completely gone! There's the smoke plume and the dock but no other visible signs of settlement.

OOC: Other than being on a beach, what does our environment look like? Any sort of plant life to give us cover as we approach? How close to town are we? The smoke plume is where Niska went correct? Is the dock near the lighthouse?
OOC: The beach is more rock than beach. Y'all are at the dock. The coast is a mix of palm and jungle like overgrown going into the island. The chart shows a town on the opposite side of the island but no other settlements. A survival roll might help determine distant but the detail is more the sea around the island and harbor towards Caorthann. The light house is miles away on a rocky area jutting out to the east. It looks easier to get there via the boat than across the island. You have no idea how far the harbor on the leeward side is as of now.

Folzi takes a moment while the others are deciding to study the map. "Well, we are losing daylight here, and I don't feel like going through that during the night," he points inland to the overgrown jungle. "Maybe we find a spot to hide out and head to town in the morning..?"

Father Pat says "I think you've got it right Folzi, we should camp for the night and approach in the morning. The most important question tonight therefore is who is cooking dinner?"
"We don't need another outburst so I suggest we let Nick do it." Hrain replies, "I'm going to call Vihar now, before I rest and pray for more strength for tomorrow, just in case we need all of our abilities although I hope that won't be necessary."
The paladin then spends ten minutes in prayer calling Vihar to his side once more.
(OOC: had to go look up noodling - according to Google its the action of improvising or playing casually on a musical instrument - then I recalled it is a way of catching fish with your bare hands.)
I think Father Pat went looking for Oysters but obviously wouldn't know an Oyster if he tripped over it or stubbed his toe on one. We should just be grateful that he didn't give everybody food poisoning by bringing back dead ones. After his unsuccessful foraging, Father Pat will attempt to set up camp in the trees at the edge of the beach. What sort of roll do you need?

Father Pat goes down to the shore to see if he can catch fish or find some oysters or some such for dinner (Survival roll - 3)

Pat finds no shellfish to speak of but then recalls Niska did leave the party rations in the boat as well as caskets of ale/wine.
