“Um Pheral,” you never seen Lythril look embarrassed before, “this thing we’re going to. Does it need dressing up like?” The Dwarven wrings her hands a bit unsure what to do. She only had her work clothes, her good leathers, her fighting gear, and her underthings. She hadn’t worn a dress since she was a little girl, and didn’t own one.

CHAPTER TWO - TROLLSKULL ALLEY FACTION LEVEL TWO QUESTS
OK! SO, FOR THOSE WHO WANT TO BE A HARPER:
I'm going to post the quests for everyone that has chosen to accept initiation into a faction. This is not private information, as anyone and everyone can assist each other on their specific level 2 quests - just remember, only the member who belongs to the faction will receive the reward. And yes, if more than one of you go on a quest you can "help" each other.
PHERAL, ASTRID, DANI (AND ANYONE ELSE WHO WANTS TO BE A HARPER):(“Renaer tells us you are a good bet. He bought you tickets to the opera tonight at the Lightsinger Theater in the Sea Ward. If you are interested, meet Mirt at intermission. Private Box C. Formal attire is required for admittance.” ) Your main Harper contact throughout this adventure is a man named Mirt. He is an older, plump gentleman with a handlebar mustache, curly blond hair, and dressed in regal clothing. He looks like a very out of shape swashbuckler. Lightsinger Theater is a high-end establishment located in the Castle Ward. You meet Mirt in his private box during the opera’s intermission, and he describes the Harpers and offers membership to you. You receive a silver pin of a harp within a crescent moon, along with your first mission. Mirt also tells you that if you ever need to speak with him directly, you are welcome to visit his manor in the Sea Ward.
Here is your quest: “One of the drays working in the city is pulled by a talking mare named Maxeene. Locate her, find out if she’s learned the identity of any Zhent operatives, and if so, determine their whereabouts.”
Here is how you complete the quest:
You can find Maxeene, a horse with an Intelligence score of 10, with a successful DC 13 INT(Investigation) check. Maxeene speaks Common, and you must try to convince her that you're a Harper by making a DC 13 CHA(Persuation) check. You will make a private PM to me with your rolls and your role-playing. If you FAIL, you can try again the next day in real time. So, if you make your PM and rolls to me today (Sunday), and fail, you have to wait till Monday to try again. I have to pass all conditions for success. If you pass, I will reply to your PM with the information you learned, and your reward.
Astrid walked down the stairs from the belfry, wearing an exquisite dress, and looking dazzling.
Grabbing Pheral's hand, she led them to the Lightsinger Theater in the Castle Ward district. Giggling the entire time, like a little school girl on her first formal date, she oooooooh'd and aahhhhhhh'd throughout the entire performance. During intermission, she proudly introduced herself to Mirt, and gladly accepted his invitation to join the Harpers. Wearing her new silver harp pin proudly, she strutted back to her seat for the remainder of the opera.
Once the opera was over, she skipped back to their new headquarters, humming and singing the opera tunes the entire way. No doubt annoying all the passers by.
Upon entering their home, she ran upstairs at breakneck speed, changed into her normal pick frilly cloak, and came hurtling back down the stairs and back out into the city....on her first assignment.
...
A couple hours later, Astrid dejectedly came loping back into their house, pouting. Apparently she spent the entire afternoon walking in circles around their block, 12 times. Perhaps she shouldn't have had that second glass of bubbly at the opera this afternoon?
Once he got Lythril's opinion he simply nodded and mimicked her furrowed brow with his own, wondering what he would want. He spent another good time in his room trying to figure it out. He found himself being interested in the Order of the Gauntlet, their sense of justice is what he yearned for and to help expel those who did unjust deeds, however to swear to them seemed... excessive. Perhaps he should wait for Azrael to return to get his opinion on it, but he assumed the Dragonborn may be busy as he explained his plans in the note left behind.
He didn't put too much thought in the invitation that Pheral had extended to join the Harpers as he didn't see himself fitting in with that kind of crowd.
Perhaps he could just go to the Order and see how it pans out, ask questions if need be, may then he will decide.

Danitriel went to the theatre dressed in a black silk robe, stitched with a pattern crescent moons in silver thread, and a silver silk shawl around her shoulders. On meeting Mirt and hearing the mission her eyebrows raised. A talking horse? There were so many jokes she wanted to make, but she held her tongue so as not to appear disrespectful.
When they returned she changed back into her normal clothes and went out to seek this strange mare.
ASTRID OF THE HARPERS: Why is your dress on fire? Thanks for the PM, I have received your rolls for your Harper quest today. LOL Sadly, rolled very poorly, forgetting what a horse looked like, apparently with that nat1.
DANI OF THE HARPERS: Wow, nice dress. I await your PM with bated breath. <3
HARPER PHILOSOPHY:
-One can never have too much information. -Too much power leads to corruption. -No one should be powerless.
Harpers gather information throughout Faerûn, discern the political dynamics within each region or realm, and promote fairness and equality by covert means. Act openly as a last resort. They thwart tyrants and any leader, government, or group that grows too powerful, and aid the weak, the poor, and the oppressed.
AZRAEL AND LEON WITH THE GAUNTLET:Savra Belabranta is a human knight, fully dressed in plate mail at the Waterdeep Temple of Tyr. You are invited to see the Halls of Justice, located west of the Market district in the Castle Ward. She tells you about the swearing in process, which is a ceremony involving the recitation of an oath to find and destroy evil in all its forms. The oath is spoken while every candidate wears a silver gauntlet (a symbol of the order).
- Faith is the greatest weapon against evil—faith in one’s god, one’s friends, and one’s self. - Battling evil is an extraordinary task that requires extraordinary strength and bravery. - Punishing an evil act is just. Punishing an evil thought is not.
As a member of the Order, you are to be armed, vigilant, and ready to smite evil, enforce justice, and enact retribution. This means identifying evil threats such as secretive power groups and inherently evil creatures, watching over them, and being ready to attack the moment they misbehave. (These are always retributive strikes, never preemptive.) You also learn that the Belabrantas are a Waterdavian noble family that raises griffons for the Griffon Cavalry. Savra is trying to regain her honor by serving Tyr, thus atoning for the evil acts she committed as a member of an evil elemental cult called the Howling Hatred.
A talking horse? That's....odd. But if that's what you want, consider it done. Pheral was determined to make the best of her efforts to get dressed up and Stayed for the Entire show.
When she returned how she changed from her dress and stored it properly. Might come in handy later. Putting on her street cloths and just her crossbow she sets out to find this horse.
After a time of wandering aimlessly around town. she gave up for the day. Perhaps she would ask Astrid for some tips on investigating .
When she returns to the Manor. Evening Lif, be a dear and bring my food up to my room in the attic please. And a bottle of rum if we have any. Pheral's room is simple and clean. a large chest sits under one of the windows and a large Hammock stretches across the middle of the room. A writing desk adorns the wall apposite the windows covered in various notes in a coded script.
LYTHRIL AND AZRAEL OF THE ORDER: In the Hall of Justice, you kneel, and in front of the Order's Officers, you are sworn in wearing a silver gauntlet. As a member of the Order, you are to be armed, vigilant, and ready to smite evil, enforce justice, and enact retribution. This means identifying evil threats such as secretive power groups and inherently evil creatures, watching over them, and being ready to attack the moment they misbehave. Always remember these ideals:
- Faith is the greatest weapon against evil—faith in one’s god, one’s friends, and one’s self. - Battling evil is an extraordinary task that requires extraordinary strength and bravery. - Punishing an evil act is just. Punishing an evil thought is not.
After a brief celebration, you receive your first quest: “We hear that the Zhents are paying gangs in the Field Ward to attack suspected Xanathar Guild members. Fights are breaking out in the ward daily. Stop a fight before it happens. We need to send a message to these thugs that further altercations won’t be tolerated.”
Here is how you complete the quest: You are to visit the Field Ward and, as a fight threatens to break out, make SIX DC 12 CHA (Intimidation)checks. YOU MUST PASS AT LEAST THREE OF THOSE CHECKS, or else you fail. You will make a private PM to me with your rolls and your role-playing. If you FAIL, you can try again the next day in real time. Azrael didn't particularly mind, and he honestly felt that Lythril wouldn't either based on her actions. He would just chuckle. Until he was sure about his future with those two he'd met before, he'd continue to mess around here and there, if only for the sake of it.
He had returned triumphant from his quest, and while it was rather simple, it still made him feel good. This was his nature, after all. Azrael had had an Idea earlier, and he knew his extra large bed would be waiting for him. This idea he had had, however, was one thing he felt he didn't need to ask the rest if they wanted to participate in, as in the end, renovating the place had already been agreed upon. He wouldn't, however, be so rude as to just do it. He'd made back the gold he'd lost earlier, and felt he would put it to good use.
Azrael had managed to make it to the Bent Nail just before it closed, and he headed in, and requested 8 sets of Woodcarver's Tools, and three sets of Carpenter's Tools, both sets coming with a variety of tools and supplies needed to re-work wooden materials, which the first floor was primarily that, as far as he could tell. If they focused on the inside for now.. they might leave the front looking run-down.. create a Haunted Theme bar, since their butler was a ghost, which would help outsiders be more understanding.
He also took a few of the feathers from his pillow, and fastened them to the base of his quarterstaff, using dried oil from his candles to make a makeshift duster.
Azrael also mentions to you all, he wants to bring his fellow worshipers here, to live in his room. are you all OK with this? if so, He'll sell his temple, and we can make some extra DM discretion cash.
Before he started, he planted these tools in his room, as they were close by, but out of sight that way. With that, he would make rounds around the house, informing everyone of his intentions, what he'd done, and the ideas mentioned above, before he himself would get started on the restoration. This wouldn't be much different than his duties at the temple, and maintaining the grounds.
Azrael immediately got to work, starting by setting up his incense candles once more along the 'bar' as he began to remove all the random debris from the first floor. He didn't care if he was helped or not, and would work through most of the night, even if it meant only getting a short rest in the end. Taking all the 'vinegar' casks downstairs to the basement, still intending to use them as makeshift weapons eventually, or perhaps bombs if vinegar had flammable properties.
Initially, he would pile the debris outside the front door, but off to the side, his logic being the outside looks like shit anyway..... and some of the debris may be usable for repairs, etc but that would come later.. for now his prime objective was clearing the space, and preparing it to be worked on further. One thing at a time, was always his motto.
Once that was done, he began using his staff to dust everything off, starting at the edges, and working his way into the center. If Lif helped.. all the better.
Eventually that too would be done. All the detritus, dust, and webs had been removed. Any rats had been scared off via the use of his minor illusion cantrip making an illusory cat chase them out. Aside from needing the furniture repaired, and the dishes to be either refurbished or new one's bought, he was off to a good start.
The hour was late, and Azrael eventually made his way to his hatch, and went downstairs to his bed, that he'd had delivered and built there in the nook to the right of the cellar area, which was his own private spot. he managed to crawl into his bed, and lay atop the sheets, immediately passing out.
The tools are just down the stairs, out of the way of tripping. If anyone wants to get a start on the furniture repairs. Azrael is tapped.

The tools are just down the stairs, out of the way of tripping. If anyone wants to get a start on the furniture repairs. Azrael is tapped.
