Maybe we run into more gobs on way back, 'nd.... make sure they are more talkative, and less guilt tripping this time."Assuming there would be no further objections, Vondal leads the way out of the cave and back to main trail once more.

About an hour after leaving the cave and heading northwest back toward the Old Owl Well and the Triboar Trail, it comes time to set up camp. You all find a level place adequate for making camp. What's up? Even if it's all you do, please pick a watch and roll perception checks.
Vondal's on last watch as always. Though during which, he'll begin making drafts for a future letter to his sister on top of the usual gear maintenance, detailing the adventure so far. (Perception: 12.)
Keeping himself awake during first watch at one side of the camp not to bother the rest of the others, Adrian will pray to Moradin to thank Him for His guidance and help. He then takes second watch. Perception: 23
Adrom separates himself from the group to spend time with Moradin while Zander finds a comfortable place to sit and keep watch and the other three attempt to get some sleep. Zander is staying awake, but just barely. His head keeps bobbing, causing him to shake it and get up and walk around a little every now and then, but as soon as he sits again, his eyelids droop. He jerks as he's once again rising quickly out of a short snooze. Was that a noise? The sorcerer is suddenly aware of a huge creature looming over him. It screeches a horrible screech.

Zander involuntarily screams as the creature first takes a chunk out of his neck with its beak and then almost guts him with a swipe across his midsection with its claw. The man collapses unconscious ... but everyone else is now awake and knows they're under attack. Adrom is the first to see it's an owlbear.
Everyone is within striking distance, even being prone. Let's do this one without a map. You have not yet had a long rest, so you have the same hp you had after the last battle.
(Of course something attacks during the 1st Watch. So much for hoping for some DM mercy in having taken the equivalent of a short rest at the very least. T.T)
Vondal awakens with a start, and following some wide-eyed glancing around, he rolls onto his feet and away from the threat; snatching up Zindral and Quivers alogn the way. "Brothers! Awaken! To Arms!" He called as he tried to put as much distance between himself and the owlbear as possible. However, if not already in immediate danger upon awakening, he still puts some distance up, but plugs away at the monster with arrow and stormfist spirit!

Nif jumps awake just in time to see Zander go down. He grabs his crossbow and attempts to hide in the shadows, so he can try and catch the owlbear unawares (Cunning Action).

OOC: Posting with the assumption of a success, ignore second roll if its a fail.
OOC: I'm going to rule the owlbear knows where you are (its memory isn't that short), so you don't get advantage (or sneak attack since Zander is incapacitated), but your first roll is enough to hit.
Nif fires an arrow of his own. His aim is good, landing another blow on the huge creature.

The creature sees Karl and Adrom stirring, but not yet to their feet and moves over to attack Karl. (beak attack: 23, damage: 14 piercing damage) The barbarian attempts to grab his shield to protect himself, but it is just out of reach, and the owlbear's beak comes down in the back of the dwarf's shoulder, ripping a huge, bloody gash. Karl lets out a grunt and goes unconscious. Turning to Adrom, the owlbear swings its massive claw at the prone cleric. (claw attack: 26, damage: 10 slashing damage) Adrom yells as the claws rip across of his leg, leaving mangled flesh behind.
Adrom turns his yell into a prayer, calling upon Moradin to heal his wounds. (Cure wounds at 2nd level: 14) He then stands and swings his warhammer at the owlbear twice (war priest). (Warhammer attack: 21, damage: 6 bludgeoning damage — warhammer attack: 12, damage: 8 bludgeoning damage) The first swing hits, but then the creature dodges the second.
Zander and Karl, make death saving throws.
Round 3: Vondal, Nif, owlbear, Adrom, Zander (unconscious), Karl (unconscious)
"Uncle!! D'vart!" Vondal continues with a litany of curses until the last moment of his shot. Once more stormfist fury is channeled into the arrow just prior to being loosed with deadly intent!

Movement: Move anotther 20ft away from Owlbear.
