Vondal grins despite himself at the remark, though is prompt in whipping the expression away if faced by Adrom's ire. "I'm with uncle with this one. Though I'm not exactly looking forward to being exhausted before end, it is better than us staying out here. Though we've shown those goblins and Druids what for to an extent. The further we are away from there and the sooner, the better for all of us, yes?"Vondal explains, giving everyone a hopeful look.

(Vondal's vote would be west, but would concede to whichever way Karl wishes to go. I would presume west would take us closer to Neverwinter, and by extension, closest to whichever branching trail heads to Phandalin anyways.)

"Hahahaha but I am getting old!! Not saying I am tired just asking if your old bones can still stand!" Adrom's replies is joyful, not a hint of resent.
As the sun approaches the horizon, the party turns west along what they assume to be the Triboar Trail, hoping to reach something familiar. About an hour later, they reach the intersection they recognize as the road to Phandalin.
You know from experience that at normal speed, it takes about four hours to get to Phandalin from this junction. Would you like to continue?
"'ssuming the bar is even open. Ahaha! But right! Picking up the pace!" Vondal adds, adding more pep to his stop. Just not too much as to take point by accident. Because they all knew by now just how swiftly the gold dwarf could surprisingly move when given cause to do so.

This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Gundren, though sounding more winded than the now-seasoned adventurers, doesn't complain when the other dwarves express an interest in returning to Phandalin as soon as possible.

The party meets no trouble on the road and arrives at the crumbling walls which mark Phandalin's border in the wee hours of the morning.
"It's good to be back," Gundren says, speaking quietly in the dark and deserted street. "I'm sure Toblen has locked the door by this hour, so why don't you accompany me to our little home we've rented here in town. With any luck, my brothers will be there when we arrive."
Vondal chuckles softly. "Personally, I'd be happy with just having a bed for the day. And if that means your home, than by all means... That said, if have home in town, we should keep on guard a little. Though we've helped things out a bit regarding the Red Brands, there could yet be other elements that we not anticipate remaining here." He mentions, though without much hope of the words not fall on deaf ears once drinking got came up.

"Unless they've cleared us out, we should have something wet at the house," Gundren replies with a smile. He begins walking south. "What's that about the Red Brands?" he asks Vondal as they walk.
Vondal groans and shakes his head. "They are -- were bunch of ruffians plaguing town. Kidnapped a couple people-..."Vondal pauses for a moment, eyes wide as he remembered the elven cleric and his original mission. Though fortunately he collected the half-elf's personal effects, the adjacent thought left him quiet and morose for a few moments. "... They, uhm... *sighs*... They were working for person partially responsible for your kidnapping. A, uh... I took note somewhere. And if not, Sildar should still be in town. So, he would know. But either way, this person had goons here strangling town with their nonsense. I cannot recall exact events that led us to getting involved... But, I do remember cowardly dog of Redbrand boss slipped past us, and no doubt return to his 'Master'."

The trail goes (fairly) east and west. Which way do you want to go?

(Heck ya, boii! It might cost some exhaustion. But, better to make it back to town at the very least, and just sleep in late.)

"Right's lets pick up the pace as I can hear an ale callin' me name!" Karl says to the others as he starts to stride out.
