Torunn chuckles as he gets the desired response from the goblin, saying "I am the a one-eyed, one-horned, flyin' purple goblin eater." Before taking the helm off and safely stashing it away in the bag with the axe and shield. Torunn looks longingly at the gauntlets as he puts the other items back in the bag of holding, having grown up small for a dwarf, lacking the strength of his clan. He decides to put them back on for the time being before making his way over back to the group to inform them of his findings.
Lukian doesn't respond to the voice's exasperated tone. "What is your story, Dawnbringer? Are you trapped in this ... handle? Are you simply speaking through it?" He then closes his lips and thinks, "And can you hear my thoughts?"
Beedo screws up his face as if he just swallowed a lemon, and then snapped his fingers. "Lies! Vargies don got no 'orns or flies!"He barks at the heavens. "Now w'ere are you stupid voice. Come out 'n face me!"With that said, the goblin would waste the next hour searching the campsite for any signs of invisible foes. By that point D.O.R.K and Vark finally take notice, and after a short exchange, the more calm of the two goblins runs over to keep the loud mouthed one distracted with other things.
Together the two would race off to the village to start sizing up the more built of the halflings that they might later challenge to arm wrestling contests; leaving their keeper to finish repairs on her lonesome.
Whenever Torunn should make his way back to D.O.R.K about his findings, it is the axe and shield that keeps her attention. Though given a choice between, she would suggest -- assuming the duo hadn't already made a claim -- that the shield go to Ebonitus and Helmet to Devin, citing the two would benefit most from such gifts.
"What is your story, Dawnbringer? Are you trapped in this ... handle? Are you simply speaking through it?" He then closes his lips and thinks, "And can you hear my thoughts?"
This time Lukian hears a tinkling laughter in his head "no no silly I am not trapped in this handle . I am this handle and more! I cannot normally hear your thoughts unless you choose to communicate with me."
Devin kept to himself while they brought the halflings back to their village. He really hadn't played much of a part in their rescue and hadn't been deputized so this wasn't his mission. Feeling a bit out of place he found a quiet spot to sit and watch was going on. Anytime Beedo came near his face would sour but other than that he just enjoyed the quiet. Eventually he got up and sought out Torunn to find out what was found about the items them had been given.
Taking an opportunity he would put on the helmet but wouldn't try the powers out. He also hefted the shield to see how it felt on his arm. Looking around he seemed to see details and actions others might miss, nothing seemed to miss his attention.
"I do like this shield Torunn, though I think D would benefit greatly from it, and that ax."
Other than that he just sits back and watches what is going on, content to wait as long as the others were occupied."
Ebonitus eases himself from the festivities after a suitable period and finds a quiet spot to contemplate and pray to the Earthmother, thanking her for her support and deliverance from the almost impossible position in which we had found ourselves. He thinks about his companions and how lucky he is to have run across them that last full moon and ponders on their strengths and weaknesses. He has a special prayer for the deliverance of the soul of the brave halfling, Quinry, who lost his life making the world a better place. After a while he wanders up to Torunn, to find out about the items in the bag. He does think that he could be of more benefit to the party with either the shield or the helm, and upon learning that Devin has expressed interest in the shield, Ebonitus expresses his interest in the helm, but is willing to defer if another expresses their desire for it. After this Ebonitus feels he is up to dealing with the festivities again and rejoins the celebrations.
OK votes are in. People found it to hard to remember the Single best line etc so I've dropped that as a factor. 1. Best RP'r gets an additional 12.5% of the total XP on offer - D.O.R.K 2. Second best RP'r gets an additional 11.25 % of the total XP on offer - Devin 3. Third best RP'r gets an additional 10% of the total XP on offer - Lukian 4. All others (except the Goblins they go up a level at a rate equivalent to the lowest party member - currently Ebonitus) get an additional 8.125% of the total XP on offer - Ebonitus & Toruun.
And the numbers are: D.O.R.K = 2974 Devin = 2859 Lukian = 2745 Ebonitus = 2573 Toruun = 2573
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.

(Though just in case there's trouble during the festivities for whatever reason before a LR, casting (2nd level)Cure Wounds at some point for: 11 to Dork)
With the majority of basic repairs done by the time festivities begin, D.O.R.K rejoins the others, though albeit with some nervousness about her. For every time some of the halflings still looked in awe or prove to curious as she moved about the populace, the oddity of it all left her slightly unnerved. Thankful, but still unnerved. "Then its decided then. I will keep the axe. Devin the shield and Ebonitus the helm."She then bows her head in thought a moment.
"At least for time being I shall hold onto the axe. But as we did not acquire monetary spoils, I will have to turn it over when we return to Yatar tommorow, as per previous agreements. Which reminds me, I should seek out the one known as Old Pert to potentially negotiate the keeping of at least a few of those Orog plates for the same purposes. If it you would all excuse me." WIth that, she got up and would meander through town to ask about the halflings residence if she hadn't already seen it before. Meanwhile, Vark and Beedo, the latter of which having had not gone out of his way to bug Devin, can be seen having abandoned the wrestling competition in favor of trying to get bets going on an food eating competition with the local populace during the festivities!
OOC: I think Devin wanted the shield, and as the axe is two-handed, no point DORK taking the shield as well unless no one wants it.
After he has shown and explained the properties of each item to the best of his ability, Torunn will let the others deliberate over the magic items, happy that he has the gauntlets. Being in such a good mood, Torunn decides to join in the festivities instead of sitting and working on one of his numerous projects as he normally does. He looks around for Old Pert and when he finds him, asks "Who are the village crafters here? I would like to meet them and talk about their work."
After watching Lukian speak to the item he was given and hearing him say he is speaking to it Devin waits for a moment when he is alone and he whispers to the shield "Psst, do you speak also?" But the shield doesn't seem to answer and he's not sure if that's a good thing or not.
OOC: Lukian would not turn down a shield upgrade, but isn't expecting anything.
Lukian looks at Old Pert and thinks, "Excuse me a minute." To the halfling, the elf says, "Young Pert will be very happy to see you. It's because of him that we found you." He pauses. "I would like to speak to Quinry's kin when we return to Yartar tomorrow. Will you take me to them so that I may beg their forgiveness?"
Lukian thinks, "excuse me a minute."as he puts the cylinder through a loop on his belt , or in a dagger scabbard, before he turns back to the halfling, saying "young Pert will be very happy to see you. It's because of him that we found you."He pauses."I would like to speak to Quinry's kin before we return to Yartar tomorrow. Will you take me to them so that I may beg their forgiveness?"
"Certainly come outside now and I will introduce you to them" Old Pert says as he leaves the cabin. He leads Lukian over to a older male and female halfling who will enjoying the party also have a look of sadness in their eyes as they watch all of the other young halflings enjoy themselves.
(OOC: if anybody else wants to RP more at the party please feel free to do so)
The rest of the night passes uneventfully but riotously as the party continues to early in the next morning. Next morning, the two Goblins at least have somewhat sore heads, others may also, and packing Golemogote for the trip back to Yartar is a slower process than normal. Golemogote is almost fully packed when Old Pert comes out of his house. He approaches Lukian and Devin "some of the villagers were telling me that while we had been captured by Prince Charming and his friends, a family of marauding Hill giants (2 adults and their children) came past and demanded food. The villagers gave them some food but it was obviously not enough as they threatened to come back in a week. The village Council had a quick meeting this morning and was wondering if you would be prepared to venture into the Surbrin Hills and track them down?"
Come the morning, the party will find a short but well built dwarf swinging a maul into a tree, practicing different manoeuvres. Anyone with some military experience can tell that this dwarf is still getting used to following the momentum of such a big weapon.
Upon closer inspection, observers will see that the dwarf is in fact Torunn but he has filled out and is no longer the slight build that everyone has become accustomed too, although he is still short for a dwarf. Torunn will continue to practice with the maul, until someone informs that it is time to go and he will gather his things and pack the cart.
Lukian doesn't shy away from the halfling couple. We walks up to them. With his right hand, he delicately touches his right ear, the corner of his right eye, and then rests the same hand over his heart. "Greetings in the name of Lathandar," he says formally. "I am Lukian Silverspear of the Cyllitria'nel. I must ... " The elf pauses to swallow, his stiffness appearing to crack. "I wanted ... to let you know that it's my ... fault that Quinry ... was killed." He swallows again. "During the battle ... during the rescue, I threw a fireball, not realizing that Quinry was close to where I was aiming." He swallows again. "Quinry and his brethren had the opportunity to hide during the conflict. I gave them the option to stay away or help, and he volunteered. He wanted to do the tough thing — the brave thing. I just wish I had been more aware that my actions would have such an unfortunate consequence." He swallows once again. "I'm very sorry."
"Thank you for your honesty Lukian of the Cyllitria'nel. You did not need to tell us this but you did and we appreciate it. We are but humble folk and do not often get the opportunity to be heroes such as you but it was always Quinry's wish to be a hero and help others. Ma and I will always miss him but we know that he got his wish to be a hero and we have to satisfy ourselves with that." the male halfling says. His wife who is holding back her tears says in a breaking voice "thank you thank you"and looking around spies a table laden with food grabs a pie dish and says "please have some apple and rhubarb pie I baked it meself!"
Lukian quietly indulges the couple by eating in their presence, but as soon as he can politely do so, he leaves the party. He finds a solitary place to contemplate the day and converse with the Morninglord about what went right and what went wrong. The party was still going on, but Lukian was ready to sleep. But it was when he was almost ready to go to bed that he remembered Dawnbringer. He gingerly holds the cylinder in his hands and thinks, "Were you once a sword, Dawnbringer?"
D.O.R.K is not wholly without her mercy, and for all they did, they were long over due rest. So, she left them be after tucking them in the back among the few sections still available for the pair. "The mother is fortunate to have you two in her service. And may you in turn find your intuition sharpened, and body honed in turn." With the blessing spoken, calls upon the usual miracle to bolster her little green miscreants, before the leaving to finish her usual morning routine.
(Cast as usual (2nd level)Aid on Dork, Vark, and Beedo)
When at last she comes upon her brother, meaning to gather him for final preparations before the group were to leave, the living construct finds herself taken aback by the change. So much so, minutes pass in silence on her part, before finally she taps raps a knuckle against her shield to grab the dwarf's attention. "It seems you have been rewarded, Brother, for your courage and inspiration the other day." She bows her head. "Thank you for that, Brother. Even if you were only in part conveying your lord's message, it was something sorely needed given our course at the time."
