”yes.Yes! That’s a great idea! Nice job! So. what eats them?”
Jack attempts to recall any predators of a stirge. (Nature:7)
Jack volunteers that llamas eat bats, but then pauses when he remembers that llamas are plant eaters.
The dwarves shrug their shoulders. After some brainstorming by the entire group, the natural predators of bats (besides humans) are raccoons, snakes, owls, and hawks. So maybe owls or a giant owls? (OOC: Under 5E rules, those birds have a faster flight speed than stirges, and have the "flyby" ability to avoid opportunity attacks. Those would be best suited to hunt stirges, I guess.)

Froskan creeps closer to the cave until he's in range to cast a Minor Illusion inside. When everyone looks ready, he nods to Trimyrai and casts the spell to make a loud imitation of a giant owl in the cave.
(Is your group ignoring the first two caves, and heading straight for the largest one in back?)

(That was my thought as well. They'd said the first two had been cleared out and the adventurers disappeare din the third. Besides, scouting the first 2 before tackling the third would be WAY too smart for us!!! :P)
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
(The first two caves were cleared... several days ago. There was always the chance that something else moving in, since then. Nothing did this time, so no problem going straight to the last cave.)
The dwarves stop at the first cave. They look inside, and then come out, giving your group the thumbs up. You see the apprentices picking up rocks and ore, and putting it into their backpacks, while the smith watches out for any dangers. They will stay there until they hear it is safe from you.

Your party gets to the last cave opening, which is roughly 10' wide and 6' high. You stop a short distance outside. With the sun high in the sky, it is not possible to see too far into the cave, which opens up (20' wide and high) and stretches back farther than you can see (at least 50', could be a lot more). Froskan and Trimyrai signal each other to start their spells. The cave opening amplifies the spell sound of giant owls hooting angrily. (The dirt around the opening shakes a bit during the hooting, like a stereo speaker playing loudly.)
You take a step back as you hear screeching approaching the opening. A swarm of bats comes streaming out, flying away from your group and the other caves, deeper into the forest. No stirges seen; these were ordinary bats. The spell hooting continues a bit longer, but nothing else comes out.
Theren gestures for the group to step a short distance away from the cave, so he can quietly talk to the rest of you. "After the bats cleared out, I caught a brief glimpse of something else being startled in there, deep in the cave. Can't tell what it was, as it had cover behind rocks, but definitely bigger than a bat or a stirge. Maybe a giant owl, or even a bear? Not certain... but my gut tells me, more than one."

Reverie starts to think deeply as she readied with her weapons. "Either way, it would be dangerous. However, I think it would be better to lure the creature out. If it's not working, then we can go further in and then trying to find the creature."

Froskan's pebble barely helps. Even though the spell is very bright, mid-day sunlight is over a thousand times brighter than a lantern. (It is too difficult for your eyes to adjust to the relative darkness inside.) The inside of the cave will be rough terrain for movement, being very rocky with large boulders providing cover to whatever is inside.
(I'll wait for your group to decide what to try next.)
