Jebben sees the warforged fall with just one blow, and lowers his rapier slightly, rethinking his course of action. He gestures towards the door-creature and mutters something under his breath. The entire stone doorway behind the creature crackles with energy, and a pale, green aura persists around everything in the area.
(For DM)
Casting Faerie Fire with DC 12 just behind the creature so only it is affected, and no friendlies.
Then he turns to Dorstaer. "If at first you don't succeed," the gnome says, his voice ringing out musically, "then aim for the nuts! That's what my mate Addie would advise in this situation!"
(For Dorstaer)
Granting Dorstaer a Bardic Inspiration: As a bonus action, a creature within 60 ft. that can hear you gains an inspiration die (1d6). For 10 minutes, the creature can add it to one ability check, attack roll, or saving throw. This can be added after seeing the roll, but before knowing the outcome.
(For Wander)
Aw, Darth, we'll get you up! You'll be good as new!
(Yeah I honestly hate Playing at lvl one so that is why I have begun to lose interest in this site since almost all of the games start at lvl 1. I prefer to start at least lvl 3 or higher so that you don't just get one shotted and you have had time to get at least a few skills or more spell slots. Also no need to worry about Wander at all. I played out his death scene and took him out of the campaign.)
(I do prefer starting at higher than level 1. Gets a lot more interesting once everyone has a subclass. At level 1, it's mostly "do an attack for 1d8+3". Maybe a couple spell slots for casters before they're stuck with cantrips. And like you said, less odds of being one-shot)
"That'd be great advice," Dorstaer replies to Jebben, "If this this looked like it actually had any nuts to aim for!"
(So yeah I probably overreacted due to a really crappy day and my low blood sugar which triggered my hypoglycemia. Sorry for being a bit of a d bag. My thing with not wanting to use a character that fell so quickly it has gotten me kicked out of campaigns by dms due to characters going down in the first combat encounter. Although now we need a healer hopefully who has healing word so they don't get to close....)
(Haha. Hey, at least it wasn't a natural 1! If you don't get healed and manage 3 failed death saves to DIE in the first encounter, I'll totally understand if you decide you're done :P)
(That's okay. This is the campaign where I made up for rolling amazing stats in another one. Final stats after racial in the campaign I rolled right before this one, same day, were 19, 16, 16, 16, 16, 13. This guy's final stats are 14, 14, 12, 11, 10, 10...)
Ellayne gasps as soon as she witnesses the creature appears in front of the group, watching one of them fell onto the floor. Without hesitation, she holds up and shoots an arrow towards the creature.
Attack, Longbow - 24 Damage - 9

The creature is hit with a massive magical blast from Vostaria which knocks a few of it's appendages from it's mangled body. The blood that has smeared across the floor is suddenly covered with a green, glittery substance.
Creature Dex Save - 21
The creature manages to avoid the spray of magical energy as it changes shape, and then reforms itself into a collection of wood, teeth and skin.
Dorstaer points his staff at the creature, cursing it (Hexblade's curse, approaching to within 30 feet if if I'm not already, then retreating further away with any remaining movement)). Then, not wanting to get anywhere near a creature that just took out one of the others in a single shot, not to mention a couple guards before hand, he stays back and launches another Eldritch Blast at it.
The strange construct-like individual went down, and Barnum's eyes briefly flitted to Wander, before taking a half step toward this creature, lashing out with the warhammer a second time.
Wander and Barnum are down, bleeding and adding to the stained floor. Two Guards are surrounding the creature, with 2 spaces next to it for melee. Jebben and Vostaria are 30ft down the corridor. Ellayne you are 25ft away.
The bells continue to ring through the corridor, although most Guards seem to be running through the main hall on the other side of the creature, fighting something else. The sounds of screaming and explosions echo from the main hall, and civilians are running in all directions. You can all hear shouting coming from behind you, probably from the holding cells.

Wander Death Save: 3
(Welcome back :))
(Thanks. I seriously feel like I acted like a toddler... Also Why do you hate me dice!? *glares at the 3 for the death save*)
(Haha. Hey, at least it wasn't a natural 1! If you don't get healed and manage 3 failed death saves to DIE in the first encounter, I'll totally understand if you decide you're done :P)
(I think that would be the point where I scream. Of course I did use up all my good rolls in my irl game tonight....)

Then, not wanting to get anywhere near a creature that just took out one of the others in a single shot, not to mention a couple guards before hand, he stays back and launches another Eldritch Blast at it.
Attack: 19 Damage: 5
The strange construct-like individual went down, and Barnum's eyes briefly flitted to Wander, before taking a half step toward this creature, lashing out with the warhammer a second time.
Attack: 7 Damage: Unable to parse dice roll.
The blast hits the creature, although this time, a purple energy wraps around it with the blast.
CRITICAL FAILURE - Barnum swings his hammer but is knocked off balance by the now slippery bloodstained floor and falls Prone.
Seeing Barnum drop, the creature takes the opportunity to try and swallow him whole.
DM Shield
Attack - 22 / Damage - 10 + 4
The pain from the bite so immense, Barnum's neck sizzles with the remnants of the acid on skin, dropping unconscious.
The two guards swing again at the creature, now visibly terrified and screaming out "We need more people over here! We have casualties!"
DM Shield
Guard 1 - Attack - 15 / Damage - 7
Guard 2 - Attack - 16 / Damage - 2
