With the Guards rushing you from outside, you quickly look in the areas Jebben missed. You open the drawers, cupboards and chests but can't seem to find anything worthy of note.
House Rule Spoiler
Generally, I like to keep it at 2 people trying any one thing once. So, for instance, no more investigation checks for this area because you all believe that it's been searched properly. Everyone OK with that? In future, might be worth someone helping somebody do something, means you have 4 rolls instead of 2.
Vostaria, seeing Dorstaer is stable, says, "Watch what you are doing, you fool." And, with some impatience, searches the room with Jebben.
Investigation: 7
(edit: LOL)
Poetic! Perhaps Vostaria was a bit too impatient. ;-)
When you think about it, helping perform a skill is really the same as performing the skill twice (two dice rolls in each case), only the 2nd person is "borrowing" the 1st person's ability modifier. So if we wanted to help in that fashion on PbP, the 2nd player could roll after the failure, state they're helping, and use the 1st player's modifier instead of their own?
Either or, just need a way to save everyone going "Oh let me try" when it's been done a couple times already!
FYI All - I am away with work next week. I will try to get on in the evening and post but it may slow down a bit. Apologies! Feel free to roleplay of course but advancing from here might take a little longer for the week ahead.
Ok all. Back now :) Ready to get going when you are. As a summary of what's happened recently.
The Guards have come to take you to the Bailiff for questioning on the recent abduction of Annie. Zackary was found this morning mostly eaten by a creature which downed Dorstaer, who is now stable, but unconscious. The guards were persuaded to stand outside and wait for you to get your affairs in order, they are growing inpatient. You all stand at the top of the stairs, next to the room where Zackary was found, except Jebben, who is at the foot of the stairs currently.
Wander waits to see what the rest of the party was going to do, thinking his best bet would be to try and sneak out of the back if possible. Whilemit was not ideal it would be one of the best chances to get away without another fight.
Ellayne frowns as she watches Dorsater snoring, and then sighs in worry. "If we are going to take by those guards, then we would never know what might would happen to us. Annie is gone, and Zachary is dead," then she looks back at the door that closed outside. "To me, at least, following the guards would be better. Then, they would think that we are not so bad as they heard. Or I can distract them while all of you could escape, bringing Dorstaer with you."

Reverie Forestgleam—Human Paladin Level 5 in Frontier City of Nunkreet Extremely busy and busy as ever recently, but I will trying to catch up as much as I can
Vostaria, frustrated from her haphazard search of the room, says, "Well, we have three options, as I see it. We go with the guards and talk our way out of it. We sneak out the back while they aren't looking, or we split up, some of us going with the guards and some of us sneaking away. If we all sneak away, where will we go? We have no idea where the human girl went."
"I myself do not trust these guards. The officials seem either corrupt or completely inept at their jobs. Along with the fact that we have already gained the attention and wrath of a local lord. The three optuons we have are not ideal but we should choose quickly before they choose to simply attack us." Wander says.
Aww, sad. I was enjoying it (other than, ya know, being unconscious for a while :P). Thanks for running it! Do we get to at least know what happened to Annie?
In all honesty, the Annie / Zackary was a complete sideways move from you guys! It was no where near the original plot intention but I ran with it and was fleshing it out. Will be good for my notes when I decide to re-run this in the future.
The original story would've seen you go to the quarry to uncover details of a war brewing under the surface between two factions in the New World, and eventually making your moves to disrupt it. Annie was kidnapped by her mother, who holds the Book of Vile Darkness which has corrupted her and given her the ability to create undead servants (who she set on Zackary that night for keeping Annie away from her).
Thanks for playing! Good luck guys and girls in the future.

Yup. That sounds good. It is tough to coordinate the help action in play by post but we should definitely try to use it more.

(Welcome back!)
Dorstaer keeps snoring.

Hey all. This campaign will be closing down. We've had two drop-outs so I'll bin it there. I hope you find some long term games. Cheers, Tom.

Understood. Sorry that the campaign dien't get very far.
Thanks for the little run we had.
