and that a portion of the summoning circle is completely ruined.
I was going to say that was an obvious mistake, except it didn't occur to me either. Hope that was a "bad" circle and not a "good" one.

Are we really trying to kill some poor creatures who were just out for a lovely evening stroll when the party tried to murder hobo them? hehe
were they even acting aggressive towards us? I though they were running away from us
In situations like this, I would give you a chance to roll to find out, but since Skameros hasn't really been in line of sight of the creatures, he wouldn't have a way to figure it out.
Well, if we have to look at basilisks to find out what they are doing, that doesn't sound like a great course of action either.
When Beegred kind of clogged the entrance area and gave his warning (don't look; let Orubis's spell do its work) , I thought people were going to stand their ground, and only attack if they came to us. (Potentially let the basilisks run away if the spike damage discouraged them.) I didn't think people were going to rush around Beegred to get into that chamber. (I hadn't considered an AoE attack.)

No one (as far as I understand) has rushed past Beegred. Rodolfo wrote he was 'falling back' but in order to have an idea of where to cast, I actually moved him 1 square south (no updated map though. I also moved Skameros closer to a wall since he 'was trying to hide'. It is still Beegred and Orubis clogging the entrance to the cavern with the summoning circle.
Orubis whips another magic stone at the farthest beast
Attack: 22 Damage: 9
If you are choosing to look at the creature, you will have to roll a DC 12 CON saving throw. Otherwise you will have to make that attack with disadvantage.
From the map on post 4085, it looks like the basilisk is within 25' of Beegred, but I'm not sure where the Spike Growth is. I put the attack rolls in a spoiler, if the DM decides there are obstacles or too much distance to move in melee range.

Does that mean you just move 5' to get out of Orubis's way, and that is your turn?
Yes. Plus the usual Ready an Attack action if the basilisk decides to charge.

If the DM says this will work, Beegred will cast Speak With Animals. I am assuming that the caverns have the typical assortment of tiny animals (lizards, spiders, bats, etc.) that are normally ignored by people. If the DM rules that the spell will only work for discrete animals with higher intelligence ( warhorse , giant eagle , etc.), then never mind.
"...the knowledge and awareness of many beasts is limited by their intelligence, but at minimum, beasts can give you information about nearby locations and monsters..."
Use the information to guide the party to the right location, and have Beegred pass along to everyone where to attack since they will be averting their eyes. (Also ask the animals if there are more monsters in the vicinity,.)

Tabaxi with a penchant for shenans. He will....shenan again...
I’m not going to wait til we’re Stone to find out

I think attacking them is a quick way to become stone but ok

You can't reach the Basilisk by circumnavigating the Spike Growth if all you have is 25' of movement.

Ok, Orubis and Rodolfo are the only two actually attacking these creatures. Do the two of you continue your assault?
The lead creature is dragging it's mate along and is currently 40 feet from Orubis and 50 feet from Rodolfo.
Orubis is good to just drive these things off
Paladin - warforged - orange
Rodolfo stands down, keeping his ears perked for when things seem safe.
Waiting for a response from the rest of the party to Beegred's last post.
If you're all going to go after the creature, tell me how you're going to go about it instead of going through initiative order for a non-fight.
