(T - transmutation spells as these would be cheaper to copy, R - ritual spell.. only needs to be in the spellbook and not prepared)
So Rodolfo has 4 levels worth of materials to copy spells. Copying transmutation spells is half the cost. Each spell level also takes 2 hours of work (or 1 hour in case of a transmutation spell).
Yeah. That is straight from the module. I think the writers were aware of how difficult the module would be for wizards in the beginning. I find there's quite a bit of wizard specific stuff to be found.
I am. Rodolfo would love to copy new spells, but not at a Menhir with oozes streaming by. He'd like a good long rest beforehand and then take a few hours in a safe place.
He's gathered another 50 gold now - I don't recall if it was possible to buy the special ink and stuff from this area for copying spells?

If the gnomes are willing to trade, and if there are no objections from the group, Rodolfo could take a 100 gp amethyst or one of those 200 gp small diamonds in our party funds.

Skameros would like to perhaps find a big stick or something else that could qualify as a greatclub for whackin oozes since he lost one of his greataxes
but otherwise, I've got nothing else that needs doin
and since I don't remember whatever slush funds we have - Rudolfo is welcome to whatever he needs.
Beegred is grumbling about the food situation. At least when the party was stumbling around the Underdark, those magic berries gave a nice sugar rush. ... He blinks a few times... Beegred casts Goodberry, having to use a 2nd level spell slot. He hands out 9 of the berries, and eats the 10th one. (Also heals 1 hp.)
When the group is ready to move, he will cast Pass Without Trace. (That leaves him with only one spell slot left.)
There were 5 surviving strike team members, including Narstin. With the 5 of you, you would have just enough goodberries to stay in the protection of the menhir and wait out the migration of the oozes.
Everyone gets a Goodberry, but he can't do anything about the water situation. Narstin might still have the Create Water spell he used during the trek in the Underdark, or maybe he swapped it out while in the city.
I vote for trying to make it back sooner. That isn't the smart vote, but Beegred isn't smart or patient. I'm assuming Pass Without Trace will still be helpful against oozes. Shadows won't mean much to creatures with Blindsight, but silence (and dampening ground vibrations) should work.

If we can fashion some types of slings - Skameros can carry a LOT of weight and can always help haul injured dirt nomes back home. Plus advantage on stealth.
I like to encourage ideas like this. But I have to say, your solution has to use materials that you currently have in your equipment. There's nothing but rock all around the Menhir.
Rodolfo can levitate Skameros who can pick up a few gnomes (or they cling to his feet or something). We can then tie a rope around his waist and pull him along like a balloon. The total weight cannot exceed 500 pounds, but that should still be enough by far.
The idea being that we make less noise / ground vibrations.
How you get back to Blingdenstone, either waiting out the migration of oozes or sneaking your way around them is not really relevant or important. Let me know how your party wants the narrative to go and I'll begin the summary to wrap up this chapter when I check in tomorrow morning.
Holy cow two spellbooks!!!
I will do some cross-referencing and math here in this post so I don't lose it. Documenting here which spells he could gain from the books.
1st level: color spray, grease, Tasha's hideous laughter
2nd level: alter self (T), blur, crown of madness, phantasmal force
3rd level: blink(T), gaseous form(T), major image
4th level: blight, fire shield, phantasmal killer, stoneskin(T)
(T - transmutation spells as these would be cheaper to copy, R - ritual spell.. only needs to be in the spellbook and not prepared)

Adding the following 14 spells: water breathing(T)(R), polymorph(T), comprehend languages(R), gust of wind, invisibility, magic weapon(T), dispel magic, slow(T), tongues, locate creature, hallucinatory terrain, fabricate(T), find familiar(R), unseen servant(R)

Anyone else want to do anything while under the protection of the Menhir?
I take it everyone is just waiting for the narrative to move things onward...

Or you can try to leave.
Orubis is not in a rush to go anywhere.

Yes, I'd just make the DC lower on the survival check if you're using Pass Without Trace at the same time.

(like 540 pounds of carry weight kinda strength)

unless we strip the gnomes naked and use that to fashion slings or something
(nothing more scary than a bugbear with naked gnomes strapped to him running at you)

OK, but Skameros can't make the Survival roll in that case.
I feel we used this tactic before, turning Skameros in to a Thanksgiving Day Parade float. Hehe

Btw, did the Borrow Warden leave or is he still with us?
I'm wondering if we can send word with him to have a party come meet us at the door and we can just make a run for it (with Pass without Trace).
Burrow Warden Jaeger is not around.
