OOC: I am no longer using the critical fail table. I've grown to loathe it.
Gruxx swings his glaive at the floating skull, hitting it for a small amount of damage. But while the human has it distracted, Ian strikes for a large amount of damage.
HDP attacks the (pink) zombie similarly, cutting the creature down following Rock's attack. The bard then heals himself for a small amount.
The (green, yellow and orange) zombie dwarves attack HDP while the (blue) zombie moves over to try to hurt Rock. (Green Attack: 23 Damage: 8 bludgeoning; Yellow Attack: 14 Damage: 6 bludgeoning; Orange Attack: 6 Damage: 4 bludgeoning; Blue Attack: 21 Damage: 2 bludgeoning)
HDP falls unconscious again under the barrage of attacks. The (blue) zombie does make contact with the dragonborn, but it is so feeble, Rock doesn't even feel it. (-1 dmg)
Round 5
OOC2: Just remembered that the skull cast blur on itself, which means attacks against it are at disadvantage. Gruxx would then roll once (disadvantage and advantage cancel each other). As the first roll was high enough, he still hits. Let's roll again for Ian: 13. Still hits, so the attacks stand.
The flaming skull spins and a flaming sphere appears nearby. It rolls toward and runs into Ian before standing in the space between him and Gruxx. (Ian DEX save DC 13: 19) Ian is able to avoid being hit, but as the sphere sits near them, both Ian and Gruxx can feel the fire threatening to burn them just by proximity.
Glynquinal tries to take down the (yellow) zombie with his short swords. (Attack: 7 Damage: 7 + 9 sneak attack) He misses with his first swing, so he swings with his other sword. (Attack: 15 Damage: 3) (DM rollz: 17) Though his second attack hits, and it appears the creature is going to fall, it stays on its feet.
Ian, feeling the warmth of the fire, will sidestep to square 19, still within reach of the skull. He attacks once again, hoping to use Gruxx as a distraction. He is too far away and is not aware that HDP has fallen.
OOC - DDP, slight meta/lawyer question (dont mean to offend, just curious), if those attacks hit the skull, and the spell requires concentration, does the skull have to roll a save of some kind to maintain concentration to keep blur in effect? and does the flaming sphere also require concentration, so he would have to choose to concentrate on blur or flaming sphere but not both? Normally I wouldnt interrupt the action to ask, but this is a matter of life and death for the party....
Gruxx skewers the flaming skull with his glaive. Its incessant laughter stops abruptly, and the ghostly green flames flicker and die away. When the barbarian lowers his weapon, the skull remains attached to the blade until he gives the handle a hard shake. The flaming sphere beside him disappears as well.
In his minds eye, his life flashes before his eyes. He remembers his first memory, bouncing on his father's knee as he listens to his father playing the lute, his mother joining in singing harmony of a ballad long forgotten. He flashes forward to getting his first lute, his father teaching him the proper strum and finger patterns. Flashes forward again to the funeral of his mother and father, cut down in their prime by a raiding band of orcs. He plays the first song he ever wrote, an ode to his parents. There is not a dry eye at the ceremony. Thus began his path as a bard.
The memories of his life continue to flash through his mind.
Death save, for DM (since in my opinion it is meta for the other characters to know this sort of information)
The (yellow) zombie turns and tries to slam Glynquinal. (Attack: 5 Damage: 4 bludgeoning) It's a hit!
The (orange) zombie shambles up and tries to hit Rock while the (blue) zombie takes another swing at the dragonborn. (Orange Attack: 21 Damage: 5 bludgeoning; Blue Attack: 23 Damage: 4 bludgeoning) The barbarian is able to dodge the first attack, but the second lands. But thanks to his rage, the damage is lessened. Rock is starting to feel all of these attacks and wishes to be able to rest.
Glynquinal, still feeling the sting of the last attack. grimaces as the (green) zombie approaches. (Attack: 15 Damage: 5 bludgeoning) The rogue prepares and turns out of the way of the dead dwarf's swing.
Round 6
Glynquinal tries again to take down the (yellow) zombie with his shortswords. (Attack: 15 Damage: 8 — 10) The swords hits, and the creature looks as if it is going down, but then it recovers again! He swings with his other sword. Attack: 17 Damage: 2 — 8) And again, despite the sword cutting into the undead creature, it stays on its feet.
That creature is actually dead. The tokens with red rings (E13, D9, F10 & G11) are dead zombies. The only zombies still shambling are green, yellow, orange and blue. If you can figure out a way to use that great roll this round, we can keep it and apply it to something else.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Sneak attack applies now: 11
DM rollz: 18
Ian moves up behind the (blue) zombie engaged with Rock and plunges his rapier into the decomposing flesh of the dwarf zombie. With a flex of the arm, he arcs the blade upward, slicing through the torso and shoulder of the creature. It makes a slight gurgling noise before slumping to the floor.
Rock, you're up! Blue is down, but orange is still in melee with you.
Sorry for the delay. Work's been crazy, and I have 16 family members in town for a family reunion this week.
Gruxx, the (blue) zombie was already taken out. With 30 feet of movement, you can get to D12 and still attack the (orange) zombie with your glaive, so I did that for you.
Gruxx moves up a little behind Rock and uses the long reach of his glaive to further deteriorate the (orange) zombie's crumbling flesh and breaking bones. The creature slumps, hardly staying on its shuffling feet.
The camera zooms into his eyes, and they reverse age. We go back in time yet again as his life flashes before his eyes.
HDP remembers his first big fight, when he was younger. Another child was getting picked on. HDP intervened. He was knocked down, but he got right back up. Again and again he got back up, until his legs wouldnt support him anymore. The bullies beat him into unconsciousness, but HDP defended the other boy. All his life he has been protecting those around him. He has gone down but he always gets back up...except, perhaps this time...
The memories of his life continue to flash through his mind.

Attack with rapier. 22
Rapier Damage: 6
Sneak attack damage: 8
Yep, you're right. CON save vs. Ian's attack (because, technically, he should have attacked first) DC10: 5
OK, so the blur would have disappeared with Ian's attack.
Ian sidesteps away from the flaming sphere and attacks the skull again, doing a goodly amount of damage. It looks like it's about to fall apart.
Rock, you're up!
Rock will attack nearest zombie
To hit
Great Axe 15
Damage
Great Axe 11
Rock brings his axe down on the (blue) zombie, cutting deep into the undead dwarf.
Gruxx, you're up!
Gruxx feels the heat from the skull and hopes it will not consume him. He strikes out once more with his glaive recklessly against the skull.
Attack: 24 Damage: 12

Ian, you're up!
Ian nods at Gruxx, thankful that he took down the skull. But the fight is far from over. He moves to E14, and swings at the foe.
18 to hit
damage: 5
no option for sneak attack damage here.
Just a reminder that all attacks against Ian are at disadvantage.
CRITICAL HIT! Whoo, we needed that! Rolling damage again, for an additional 2 of damage on top of the 7
and just for fun, offhand attack with dagger
18 to hit
damage: 3

With 35 feet of movement I should be able to get into melee with either orange or blue. Lets say he goes after blue this round.
