About halfway through your rest (no benefits yet, and HDP is still unconscious, but stabilized), the party hears shuffling feet coming from the direction where Ian found the stairs that led to the makeshift building with the broken door. They look to see four skeletons wearing armor scraps and carrying rusty shortswords moving into the chamber.
We'll do this encounter theater of the mind. Who goes first? 1=players, 2=skeletons: 1
Closest to that side of the chamber, Rock and Ian jump to their feet and defend themselves. Both are set upon by two skeletons, but they are able to dodge and deflect all of the blows aimed at them.
Players may play! All are within range of everyone.
Glyn backs up, knowing he is close to collapse already and can't chance getting hit. He draws his crossbow and aims for one of the creatures attacking Ian. (Attack: 16 Damage: 11) His bolt, frustratingly, flies straight through the creature, not hitting it at all.
Rock responds by belching a wave of fire from his wolfishly dragonborn maw at the two skeletons attacking him. One takes the full brunt while the other is caught on the outer edge. The one is left blackened and smoking, but both are still on their boney feet.
Ian watches one of the two harassing him glance over at Rock and uses its divided attention to lunge. His blade severs the backbone of the creature, and it collapses into a heap. (One down.) Gruxx steps forward and thrusts his glaive around Ian's arm at the fourth skeleton. The blade catches the creature's arm and breaks it off. Unfortunately, it wasn't the arm holding its sword.
The remaining three creatures continue their attacks. Skelly 1 vs. Rock: Attack: 20 Damage: 3; skell 2 vs. Rock: Attack: 18 Damage: 6; skelly 3 vs. Ian: Attack: 16 Damage: 5)
Both creatures pounce upon Rock as he is raising his weapon once again after bathing them with flame. Their attacks land, but don't do as much damage as they would have if he wasn't in a rage. (4 total damage) The third creature swings at Ian, but the elf is able to spin out of the way at the last second.
Players, you're up!
Glyn fires another bolt at the blackened skeleton. (Attack: 25 Damage: 8) His projectile hits the creature in the skull, and it flies backward, bounding along the floor. The rest of the undead creature falls to pieces.
Ian and Gruxx are able to dispatch the final two skeletons, scattering their many enchanted bones across the ledge and also down into the roiling water.
Ian says "Well, that rest wasnt as restful as I had hoped for"
Ian thinks back over the beginning of the fight, when the skeletons came into the room. Does he remember anything? Did they look like they were looking for people? Or did they look more like a roving patrol that stumbled upon the party?
Ian will then go through the piles of skeleton bones to see if they had anything on their persons, either tucked in their armor or anything like that. Is their armor or weapon of any value?
As far as anyone could tell, the skeletons looked like they were headed that way, but it's hard to know if they were roving or stumbled. The skeletons' armor and weapons are rusty and riddled with pock marks from age.
Ian, disappointed by the lack of accouterment, takes all the skeletons and their stuff and throws them off the ledge into the water, so there is no evidence of them.
He checks on the others to make sure everyone is ok, then sits back down, next to HDP, sharpens his daggers.
Short Rest. Do we have to start over? Or just continue where we were interrupted (time-wise)?
After resting, and making sure everyone is ok, Ian will lead the group another way.
I think, if I am remembering the map correctly, Ian can go down a passage to the South West (from the water). The one to the south East led to stairs, and a door that was charred and stuck, and would have to be broken open. I think the passage to the SouthWest is the only one available, unless we backtrack to the room where we battled the skull.
Completely forgot about XP. Combining the XP you've gathered since entering the cave, the four originals now have 2720, which is 20 into Level 4. Rock, you now have 2595. If you all can get a long rest, the four of you could level up. This is a dangerous place to try to rest for eight hours, however. You saw what happened when you tried to get an hour rest. You could also try to wait and see if Rock can gain another 105 XP, and then all of you could level up together.

Short
Short is fine. Ian will still keep guard while he rests, in case someone falls asleep.

"TEMPUS" he cries out!

That is correct. Everyone's short rest has to start over. HDP has been unconscious for 30 minutes, so he will regain a hit point in 30 more minutes.
Rest continues. Hopefully without interruption. Ian gets back:
1: 3 hp
HDP gets back:
1: 5 hp
2: 5 hp
3: 7 hp
OOC - DDP, Any XP for tracking purposes for those skeletons?
