Ileanys watches his temporary allies disappear one by one as they touch the stone. Reaching out with his arcane senses, he inspects the stone, trying to determine what might have happened as each of the others touched it.
If he can not tell and the Balor doesn't know, he'll fly down and touch the stone after Gilra does.
One by one, you step forward and touch the Blood Stone.
You pass through the sphere into darkness. You can no longer sense the presence of the others around you. There is nothingness and for a brief moment you wonder if something went wrong… but no. A sudden understanding washes over you. This place is yours, your very own plane of existence. You waive a hand and everything is shaped to your liking and exactly how you wish it to be.
Over time you reach out from your domain to the material realm. You acquire followers and with them comes more power. Some who beseech you are pathetic creatures with nothing to offer- you ignore them. You grant power to your chosen followers as they further your agenda all over the world. Those you favor come to your side at their deaths and their devotion grants you even more power.
Archy- You are finally free of the Archdemon. Finally powerful enough to be beyond its grasp. You feed of the cries of warriors asking for blessings as they go into battle.
Ileanys - You become a patron of con artists and thieves; those who thrive off of people who are too foolish and weak to deserve what they have. No longer under the thumb of your patron, you are free in a way you have not been in a long time.
Laucian - Your cult becomes popular among courtiers and nobles. They idolize you as a paragon of cunning and deceit. They leave you offerings, begging for your aid in their attempts to take power.
Barosh- Killers all across the world leave their broken and bleeding victims on your alters as offerings. Your followers commit wild acts of violence in your name.
Gilra- Your own druidic following spreads across the underdark and beyond. Your followers turning the useless into spore filled husks to serve you and themselves.
Mankur- You become a beacon for those betrayed by their god. Your paladins exalt you as a source of true righteousness, letting other fools who will not see the truth die for their uncaring gods.
Raze- Assassins across the earth send you offering an prayers for success on their missions. The warforged, who have so few of their own gods, tell stories of the dark god who will snatch their souls if not appeased with many offerings.
Perhaps you maintain a working relationship with those who ascended with you, or perhaps you become enemies. Maybe you forget about them, preferring to put everything that happened in your mortal life behind you. What ever you want for yourself, as an immortal you have all the time you need.
You have achieved your goal. You have Ascended.
Thank you all for playing! If you have anything you want to share as an afterward for your character I’d love to hear it. Feel free to ignore the little blurb I wrote if it doesn’t work for you. Hopefully you all enjoyed yourselves! There were some really clever plays in that Tarrasque fight and I had a lot of fun running it!
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
Current Characters: Tailine, Tiefling Rogue 2 - Zanoliv
(This was really fun, the Tarrasque fight was a bit easy because 1. there's 8 of us and 2. flying, but it was still good)
Barosh grew bored quickly and disguised himself to walk among mortals. He brought together a band of adventurers who thought they were strong enough to take down the dark god, but when the time came to fight he turned on them. He now walks around with several flesh golems as guards.
(I was thinking that there'd be some sort of battle royale at the end, Barosh was saving his best spells for that. Such a shame I never got to cast meteor swarm)
It was fun to test out a level 20. Though I would have liked a bit more of a challenge. A breath weapon (poison/fire) or some lair actions would have been a good addition to up the difficulty without just stacking on hp - falling stalagtites, geysers of lava, swarms of kruthik.
(For the melee combatants, I could see that being easy but it definitely wasn't so much for my character. Practically every saving throw it had to do with my spells, it ended up saving on due to advantage, even most of the Int ones too. So I could only deal half or no damage, not able to do that much else aside from the Bardic Inspiration unlike the previous fight where he ended up doing the most damage. The Deva fight was really easy though as a result, up until the Solar killed Laucian of course.... Luckily Mankur was generous enough to revive him, I was crying so hard at his death and thinking that was it for him. Yeah, was worried about it being a loophole at the end where only one could ascend, resulting in PVP which would have been really bad for Laucian with his lower health. I was also worried that the Balor was gonna explode and hurt a lot of us or that the Balor was gonna betray us and try to kill us after defeating the Tarrasque.)
Once in a great while, Laucian will appear in the material realm and reward his followers with a performance of his music. Naturally he shows favoritism to the high-elven ones and those who question it are immediately disposed of as examples. In his domain, he has a harem of both female and male high elves of course.
I had a great time. Was fun to get to play around at level 20. And I definitely considered/was ready for some pvp, but also wasn’t entirely sure I’d it was allowed or not :p. That’s part of why I asked whether we could all ascend or only one. Wasn’t sure if it was going to come to a forced fight basically because only the last one left would get to ascend.
Actually... if everyone is up for it and if the DM would facilitate the environment and the balor then we could do a "what if.. " scenario and PvP as well? :)
I would, but archy would die instantly against these casters. He has 38 hp left, and his face is a bloody pulp. But, I do have a foolproof strategy if you do do this.

Dex save 27
Mankur will walk up to Barosh and cast bestow curse on him (WIS ST DC 19) choosing Constitution
You touch a creature, and that creature must succeed on a Wisdom saving throw or become cursed for the duration of the spell. When you cast this spell, choose the nature of the curse from the following options:
Choose one ability score. While cursed, the target has disadvantage on ability checks and saving throws made with that ability score.
While cursed, the target has disadvantage on attack rolls against you.
While cursed, the target must make a Wisdom saving throw at the start of each of its turns. If it fails, it wastes its action that turn doing nothing.
While the target is cursed, your attacks and spells deal an extra 1d8 necrotic damage to the target.
Gilra casts Resistance on herself and asks the balor, "What do you make of this? You have better vision than most of us."
(and in the interest of speed of play - if he has no idea then Gilra will touch the stone as well)
Ileanys watches his temporary allies disappear one by one as they touch the stone. Reaching out with his arcane senses, he inspects the stone, trying to determine what might have happened as each of the others touched it.
If he can not tell and the Balor doesn't know, he'll fly down and touch the stone after Gilra does.

(I love it! Have to be honest, this was so much fun! That tarrasque battle felt too easy. Though that might just have been me)
Hornet, though a measly familiar, also ascended. He became a patron of Pseudodragons, and those who prefer thinking over action.
(If you have another one of these things, let me know, I had a backup character for when this guy died who still works)
(This was really fun, the Tarrasque fight was a bit easy because 1. there's 8 of us and 2. flying, but it was still good)

(I don’t think I would have been allowed to have this guy die. He isn’t my character, he’s a friends. So he’d destroy you if it was my character)
Yeah! for the Tarrasque I gave it like... 300 more HP because of how many of you there were but that didn't help it much XD
I was curious to see if any PVP was going to break out there at the end but it didn't.

It would’ve happened if I knew it was alright. And I wasn’t almost dead.

Thank you for running this adventure!
Due to the anti-life shell, Gilra would have been able to just solo the Tarrasque, but so would have anyone with flying as the environment allowed it.
Also, Gilra was ready for the PvP part!
Actually... if everyone is up for it and if the DM would facilitate the environment and the balor then we could do a "what if.. " scenario and PvP as well? :)
That would be fun. And Barosh still has his Meteor Swarm...
I was gonna suggest the same thing :p
I would, but archy would die instantly against these casters. He has 38 hp left, and his face is a bloody pulp. But, I do have a foolproof strategy if you do do this.
Yeah, I would say the same thing as Reptile regarding Laucian, this being a quick PVP fight for him as he would die again easily with having lower hp.
(I'm gonna roll it anyways just for funzies, DC 19 dex save for half damage, ignores fire resistance, all 1s on the first 20 d6s count as 2s)
Fire Damage: 89
Bludgeoning Damage: 68
