Cora looks from across the catwalk to the waterfall. Then up. "The water will make it hard for me to scramble up there."
Looking down from the catwalk you all find yourself on, with your newfound darkvision able to penetrate down into the water, you can see it swirl. The river system stemming from this large tankard, creating small vortexes and whirlpools. If you missed the climb check, you may find yourself being sucked out and down into one of the waterways.
(DC 13 athletics check for the first person. Disadvantage if you do not have 1 of the following: climbing kit / climb speed, swim speed. If you have both swim and climb speed, no roll required.)
(If successful, can toss down a rope. Everyone else will make a DC 13 athletic check with advantage.)
(Failure you fall into the water; taking some fall damage due to the height and run the risk of being pulled down until drowned if not rescued)
Abigail looks up at the waterfall and then down into the water, gauging the likelihood of success.
Abigail Wildcat of the Sea check: 2
1 = Climb the wall... duh.
2-4 = Hell no. My destiny is to die at sea, not here in this cave.
"There is no way I can make that... The water pressure from the falls is too strong." Pausing, she looks over at Yaalin. "Unless you have some sort of trick for making it easier?"
Lafetha, you recall these bugs. A odd subterranean critter. Dumb and absolutely viscous. They eat anything organic and are hunters that rely on swarming their prey. Overcoming with sheer numbers and biting until the creature is dead. After, they eat the bodies to regurgitate a pulpy mash of the remains and grow luminescent fungus which they eat.
It's entirely possible they actually created the drowning vine creature you all fought before. Which in turn might have turned them into a food source.
You do remember hearing stories of those that dealt with them before. They tend to pop. A quick spray of acid that's as deadly as the creature. Also, they're terrible swimmers, but aren't afraid to lurk around in the water. Able to hold their breath for incredible lengths of time.
As Yaalin begins to grab a rock, you can't help but to have a moment to cause her pause. While yes, they will follow some light source. They also will trigger their hunting instincts and make it so they begin to try and feel vibrations. You may find yourself battling a swarm of them coming from land, and swimming out of the water to engage.
Stealth may be your best option if you don't wish to be dealing with them exploding all over the group.
"So what is the plan? we can't scale the waterfall without falling into the water, A.K.A. getting eaten by bugs or worse. Going down into the darkness is almost certain death and the bugs are vicious and will likely swarm us which seems like the best idea regardless?"
She is clearly getting incredibly frustrated by the constant delays and deliberation.
"Well, if what you say about these bugs is true..." Abigail looks up at the waterfall again. "Then I guess I should give the waterfall a go. At least that way I can die in the water instead of being regurgitated into a glowing pile of mush."
Abigail approaches the wet wall, her claws digging into the rough but wet stone face. Under her breath, Abigail mutters, "Okay, time to see if this 'divinely directed mission' is really as divinely directed as Cora says."
Yaalin shrugs at the decision but brushes the shoulder of Abigail and dryer handholds, sturdy rocks and other helpful points seems to stand out a bit more. Guidance
After the rope is lowered down she will subtlety bless the others in a similar fashion until everyone else is up the rope and will finally follow herself.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Diadochi looks at the passageway to 2, "Now that I know more about the devil we know, I say we try to avoid it entirely." athletics21 ((guidance Yaalin rolled already included)) if anyone doesn't make it, He will dive down with out even thinking.
Abigail is the first to climb. Reaching out a few times to judge some of the distance before leaping up into the waterfall. A small tumble, before claws sink into the stone and find some footing. Turning her head every so often to try and take a breath from the rush of water that nearly covers her entire body. Luckily, her natural climbing instincts come in, tail counter-balancing outside of the water giving the rest of the group a marker of where the tabaxii is along the falls. After a few minutes, seeing some ups and downs, she emerges at the top. Pulling herself on top of the falls; able to look out and see the vastness of the cavern she's in.
Using a hammer and nail, she's able to pin down a rope so it won't slip. The river that falls down from this section wide and fast moving. Deep in some areas, making it hard to get a good grip on the rope. Still, with now a rope and her pulling, one by one the group heads up. Each time, it gets a little easier for the others to pull them up; Diadochi providing the most difficulty due to the amount of gear and being a seven foot tall loxodon.
(Area 7)
The waterfall is deafening. The river itself extending back towards (Area 5). Unlike the other section you explored, this area has no catwalks or paths. Just a natural river that's carved it's way through the rocks before reaching the container. Every so often, a step turns into not being able to find footing and being pushed back several feet in a matter of seconds before another hand shoots out to grab, and hold on. Cora - being the smallest of the group - struggles the most. Even in the shallower sections, the water being up to her shoulders. With one one direction to go, the group sets out to...
(Area 5)
The river takes a bend, some of the water forcing itself against a dry ledge and series of rocks. Some barrels and crates rest on top of the rocks, while other things appeared to be smashed against the bit of land. Above you, one of the rocks shutters. And you swear it moved just a inch to the side. Creeping a bit closer to you. But.. you're not entirely sure.
What do you do?
(Athletics Check DC 12 to get to the land which can hold 3 people. Fail and you can still get there, but suffer 1 point of exhaustion from. All terrain is considered difficult due to being a few feet in water, unless you've got a swim speed.)

Looking at the group and seeing what is going on yaalin moves up behind Cthe water and onto the piles of ora and lifts her up put of onto her back and on to the top of her shell/piles of backpacks.
"Hold on and dont die." She glances up her eyes narrowing at the now still ceiling, " Watch above."
Pulling her staff out and praying hard and fast under her breath. (([Spell]guidance[/spell)) she moves towards the small bit of land panting hard and she gets near staying and bracing herself in the river as the other move up.
Lafetha (1 exhaustion), Yaalin (1 exhaustion), and Cora all fill up the small little bit of land while the others continue to stand in the raging river.
Glancing up, Abigail looks around but doesn't see anything more than a few, small, stalactites.
Lafetha notices something different. A shifting pattern against the ceiling. There are three, rather large, flat, creatures camouflaged up there. Each slightly spread out and with some degree of cover from the both the ground and different angles.
Pointing them out, the others are able to eventually notice them. Almost like a flounder resting in sand, except for a periodic eyeball opening and the ever so slow shift towards the group. Maintaining their sense of illusion in the darkness. However, you do think you see a way around them. Able to jump from this section of land, and on to different little outcrops. But if you miss, you'd splash into the water and have to contend with one or more of these.. things.
Of course, you could try to instantly attack them, but there isn't any element of surprise. They see you, and are slowly stalking closer.
What do you do?
(To fight them off, roll initiative.)
(To attempt to get around them, DC 12 Acrobatics check. Anyone in the water has disadvantage. Anyone on land has advantage. Characters not on the land can attempt to swim up and on to land before the check, with DC 12 Athletics; failure is 1 exhaustion)
Realizing that she is tired from exiting the water, and that the easy way around would be to fight their way through, she alerts Cora and Yaalin on her plan.
