Abigail: ((Caltrops stay the same. Health Potion you can gaggle down to 55 gp.))
The Mayor raises a eyebrow. "A sack?" then watches Abigail slump a wet backpack full of heads on to the table. He chuckles, corner of his mouth pulling into a wicked grin. "Well, looks like I owe you." He picks up the sack and tosses it to his Butler. "Bring me one gold, for every head in that sack." Abigail makes a motion to argue for more, but is shot down a bit quick by the Mayor.
((Diadochi can also off the Goblin he's carrying around in his backpack for 1 gold.))
The Mayor does give a nod, "I'll go grab it." He leaves for a few minutes. In the meantime, the Butler returns, seeming a little green in the face from carrying a bag of heads, but places down a coin purse. It containing 1 gp for each goblin head, opening it confirms the totals. (6 gp for Abigail, and 1 for Diadochi if he gives over the goblin. 1 for Sim's goblin mage head.)
Another minute or two, he lays out a large, heavy, vellum map. Abigail pours over it, taking a look at where you are, and where you're trying to go. If your reading this map correctly,, and you're not sure you are, this trek should be two days to the temple. But it could also be five. Hard to tell from your reading of the map if these mountains are easy to navigate, or a hard climb. But you take the time to make a copy of this section of the map to the best of your ability.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Sim pulls out the head of the Goblin Mage and tosses it onto the ever growing stack. "I appreciate your concern over having a wall or having a home but even if it takes time a little here or there will make a big difference. Thank you for listening."
Sim pulls out the head of the Goblin Mage and tosses it onto the ever growing stack. "I appreciate your concern over having a wall or having a home but even if it takes time a little here or there will make a big difference. Thank you for listening."
The mayor definitely said something in Orc. But it was a bit under his breath and slurred to figure out exactly what. He does nod and smirks at the Goblin head. Tossing it to the butler, who comes back with the coin.
Yaalin observers the crude copying of the map, and finally replies to the Mayors earlier question, " The [Tooltip Not Found]leaders forcibly removed the two remaining stones during the raid last night though I intend to see ALL of the stones returned if they do in fact have the others which should rest in the empty sockets" Deception9
I will tilt my head to an angle narrowing my eyes at the mayor
"I suspect your, what did you call him, Spirit of the Mountain, will be unhappy that the people placed here under his protection aren't caring for him well enough. "
Assuming the Mayor take this well
Yaalin will then turn to Diadochi "work with him on the contract to eradicate his vermin problem, I wish to speak to the farmers outside"
If he does not accept it
"Your runes stones are safe with me sir, Though should you insist You may have them. Outside of the statue and sustaining the damage they have I think you will find them nothing more than paperweights." Persuasion9 To get the mayor to allow me to keep them for now. If that also fails I will hand the stones over with no complaint.
Either way I will then proceed back out to see if any of the Farmers know the mountains well enough to point us to where the Mayors Brother may be.
The Mayor nods. "For all of my life, I have only known two stones. Grandfather, and Father, had others. But time takes all...." there's that huff of frustration which comes out. "I'll have to speak to the Runekeeper about this further."
The mayor does turn to look at Yaalin before she leaves. "Careful, outsider. You do not know our mountain."
Yaalin, as you speak with the farmers outside, the majority don't know that he had a brother. Those that do, refer to him as the Shepherd. Saying that he's usually in town this time of year, but it's been colder this year than most. So he's probably still on the mountain cause the pathway isn't clear.
If I hear the mayor as I leave I will say back over my shoulder "And you do not know my faith. Trust sir, and the shell shall protect you."
After speaking with the Farmers I shall wait and meditate for the others to finish inside, I shall rely on Sim to show me the way forward if these people will not. All hatchlings must emerge on their own, these people are no different..
"Ah yes, nearly slipped my mind, thank you," Diadochi reaches into his back back and takes out the limp goblin corpse and puts it in the murder sack.
"Did someone say 'Contract?' Why Negotiating contracts goes so far back and shows up so frequently in my lineage that I daresay it's genetic, it all started when my Great Great Grandmother Gertrude negotiated a monologue embargo of sorts, it seems that my people back in the day had quite the knack for going on long tales, and the local Minotaur population had trouble remembering why the tales even began or what propose, got so bad it came to blows a few times, so a contract between our peoples seemed just thing. That's when Old Gertrude came in..." ((this continues, somehow guiding the contract even though it never slows down, if a roll is needed on the contract Persuasion17 ))

The Mayor is enthralled in Diadochi’s stories. It seems that the Mayor has a bit of noble envy... or perhaps aspiring to a station higher than what he has. Regardless, after some discussion, stories, and sharing a drink together while others look at the map and take notes on it, he’s drafted up a contact. Instead of a flat 50 gold price, Diadochi seems to have persuaded him to a single item in his art collection, in which both parties must agree too.
There must be viable proof that the Goblins are taken care of and removed. And in addition, Diadochi will sign and seal a writ of authority. Something that’ll give the Mayor some clout beyond the village of rest.
”HA!” He yelled as he placed down the cup. “Very well. We have a deal. If you all will just sign....”
He hands the pen off to Diadochi. “You first, then the rest of your compatriots. Unless they’re forfeiting any reward....”
((Well, with the price of the caltrops staying the same, and the health potion still unobtainable, I do not purchase anything else but the backpack))
"If there are valuables and riches to be earned, then I am at your service." Abigail says, signing the contract.
((Abigail is now ready to head out up the mountain. On her way out of the mayor's house, Abigail looks tries to spot any points of interest or other ways into the house - you never know if your employer will turn on you in the end. Perception18))

"I'd prefer the gold but if this is what everyone wants." Sim signs the contract. "I'd also like to tour your complete collection now so I can plan in advance what my prize will be." Persuasion9
The mayor waits for the rest of the people to sign, or not sign, the contract before he responds.
”I think you misread,” he says pointing to a part of the contract. “You, as all persons sign below, receive a item. Not each of you...”. Glancing back over what Diadochi and him discussed and negotiated, it was either 50 gold total, or a item that both the team and he agree on.
He shakes his head at Sim’s offer. “While I appreciate you all assisting Rest, make no mistake, it appears you did it for coin. Not the goodness of your hearts otherwise the lot of you would not have arrived with a bag of heads.” He chuckles, clearly liking that everyone did bring it though. “Now, mercenaries. I believe you have a job to do, yes?” He gestures over to his Butler who begins to escort you all out the way you came in.
((I just need to know if anyone beyond Sim and Abigail sign the deal. And, on your way out, you can 1 of the following. Perception to try and get a view of any rooms or hidden doors that aren’t obvious. History to see any of the items that are obvious, if they have any value. Sleight of Hand vs the Butler’s active (not passive) perception, to steal something along the path on the way out.))
"My dear sir, I appreciate your point of view but if I didn't want to help no amount of coin would have made me assist you or your town. I did not seek payment for help, It was you who offered a gold a head so I brought you the head more as a trophy for you than for payment. However I do appreciate how it may have appeared." Sim flips the gold coin back on to the table as a gesture of the truthfulness of his words and to maybe bank a little good will. Also seeing how the mayor acts by bringing him the head as a trophy Sim thinks it would make him feel respected. (Sim as a changling and a spy is very careful in how he appears because he does not want to draw unwanted attention to him or his activities. It is why he chose to help the child first and it is why he chooses to forego the gold coin.)
Sim then nods to the Mayor respectfully and turns to follow the butler out. Very clearly not looking for anything hidden or trying to get close to anything at all.
"Of course I'll sign this contact. I daresay we did old Gertrude proud with this one. " Diadochi signs the contract. "You'll have to forgive Sims, old boy has seen much evil in this world. These days you have to assume everyone is less than reputable, and of course right to be a beacon of virtue at the same time." ((there is little evidence to back this up, but Diadochi believes it)).
Abigail: While you don't find any new, interesting, ways of entering the large home beyond what you would be able to tell from walking around outside of it; you do take note of the outline of a false door in what appears to be a study with several paintings on the walls.
The group gathers back outside, meeting back up with the meditating Yaalin. A cooler wind has been kicking up, swirling around the manor and along your walk back to camp. Inside the camp, Mama fills up waterskins (with actual water), hands out blankets to those that do not have one, as well as three tents, and resupplies whoever might be down on arrows, bolts, or rations.
With you all geared, and supplied. You see the Widowpeak Mountains ahead of you and the trek that's ahead. You could stop by Lady Orta, but it's clear the winds are shifting and you could find yourself climbing in the dark.
If beginning the climb:
(I'm going to need two things. MARCHING ORDER (Who's in the Front Spot, Middle Spot, Rear Spot), and a Survival Check, from at least 1 person in the front. Other people in the Front position can assist, giving the person who rolls advantage.)
((Abigail is headed up the mountain. She wants to be either directly behind, or one slot behind, Sim. Sim has shown himself to be good at this whole outdoor stuff, and I assume he will be toward the front. Since Abigail does not have survival, she will not be assisting in that regard.))
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Yaalin is heading up the mountain after seeing everyone resupplied, she will grab a blanket and shove it into one of her backpacks. Up front beside whomever else wishes to lead this thing ((so she will be up front)) once out of earshot of Mama...
"Does anyone have a preference for which thing we tackle first? We were hired to grab the apple first which I think leads up to the temple but I know I wish to help Rest and gather their runestones from these [Tooltip Not Found] wherever they may be. "Let's do this," Lafetha says half-heartedly as she grabs a blanket from Mama, folds it up and puts it in her backpack.
"I'll travel beside Sim, and help him flank the sides to help spot tracks, and also to see if I can hear any goblins, or other foes coming up the way."

You all take some supplies, and head off to the mountain. For the first hour, you're able to follow the Goblin's tracks fairly easily. In the second hour, the tracks fade away. Heading towards a ledge that's currently covered in a bit of cloud.
