Diadochi looks at the small crowd ready to fight him, and nods appreciatively. He throws down his Shield and war hammer to the ground, takes off his armor. From his bag he takes out a ration, and raises it into the air "The one who dares first and succeeds gets the food." He turns to the translator "I don't suppose I could get one of those sticks..."

Sim looks at the Elder one more time before turning to leave the tent. As soon as he steps outside he stop and stares in amazement as he sees Diadochi squaring off with one of the Tribe members each hold a wicked looking bundle of reeds in their hands. "I swear I can't leave these people alone for five seconds or they are fighting." He begins pushing his way through the crowd to get closer. history5 to see if he can tell what sort of thing is happening and how deadly it could or could not be.
The translator gives a nod and tosses DIadochi one of the sticks. It's most likely what they make their spears out of in some capacity, probably with some more rigidity.
One woman steps up, taking one of the sticks. She tosses down three feathers of some kind of beast, before looking over at Diadochi and giving a nod.
Hn'ti Fight Duel Mechanics
1) Make a attack roll, as normal, with the stick. The stick does 1d4+STR damage that is considered nonlethal.
2) If you hit, or are hit by your opponent, roll a CON save equal to 8+ Stick Damage Dealt. If one person fails, and the other succeeds, the person who failed taps out. (Both fail and the fight continues)
3) If you wish the strike to be considered lethal, roll at disadvantage if your opponent is still standing. (knocked out opponent and it'll be considered a killing blow)
3) As a bonus action, you may make a punch attack (normal attack, 1 + STR damage, does not cause tap out), or attempt to push them over (gaining advantage on the next attack. STR / Athletics v their STR/Athletics or DEX/Acrobatics)
4) A character may tap out at any time
The woman Hn'ti opponent taps your stick twice, before tapping the ground twice. You assume it means that she's ready...
Diadochi catches the stick out of the air, and does a few practice swings with it, getting a feel for it's weight, and then nods. He toss the ration down, and mimics the same tapping the woman did. He rushes in to shoulder check his opponent (bonus action shove) athletics15 and then uses that momentum to bring an overhanded swing down on her Attack: 7 Damage: 4 ((if he pushed her over, advantage 16 and if he gets hit CON SAVE 20 ))

Sim, Lafetha, and Yaalin. You move through the small crowd by the tents and see Diadochi, without any armor on and his weapons cast aside in some kind of combat with one of the Hn'ti woman. Looking around, everyone seems to be enjoying it in their own quiet ways. Taking notice on how each of them move as they bring these sticks against one another. Sometimes slash them together, other times smacking around the knees and arms before going in for body blows. None of you think it could be lethal, at least intentionally. A person could end up quite sore though, or concussed.
Sim, you're not entirely sure what is going on. Based on time out with other peoples, this could be anywhere from settling of problems, to a sport, to Diadochi is about to take a bride.
The Hn'ti woman pushes her own attack against Diadochi when she finds a opening.
Attack: 11 Damage: 4
CON Save 17 ACROBATICS to stay on feet 15
Bonus Action: Punch Attack: 4 Damage: 2
There are some chuckles across the crowd as everyone continues to watch. The woman seems to absorb the hits from Diadochi, before bringing a larger strike against his knee. But, Diadochi manages to get the upper hand, not too bad off from the blow. Her footwork becoming sloppy and giving the Loxodon a advantage...

Diadochi doesn't let up his assault, with a swing right into the torso Attack: 13 Damage: 5, and then trying to knock his opponent to the ground with a push 11. CON Save 23
The crowd continues t shift and move as the two in the ring go at it. Strike after strike during the next series of exchanges.
Attack: 13 Damage: 2
CON: 17 Acrobatics: 5
Bonus: Strike Attack: 12 Damage: 2
The Hn'ti woman takes a strong blow. Some of her attacks land on Diadochi, but his thick natural hide makes it difficult to leave any good sized welts across his skin. The last blow did seem to give her pause for a moment. Shifting from one foot to the other, but not yet having proper footing for a strike and leaving herself too open as she tries to roll out of the way of Diadochi's charges and press.

Diadochi Having hit the torso spins around and hits the other side of the torso Attack: 24 Damage: 6 and then rushes forward to body check the woman athletics7. CON SAVE 7
"Abigail, it appears that our Hn'ti friends are as genuine as they appear," she muses to herself, "With all this talk of demons, I half expected some dark evil secret down here. Instead, just more of the same."
Abigail almost resolves to just head back up, when her curiosity once again gets the best of her, "...still, I might as well make sure this water sound is just an aqueduct or waste dispensary while I am down here..."
((Abigail is going to leave the coins. Between the spirited and competitive youth, and her mildly warm reception/returned curiosity from the Hn'ti, Abigail actually has enough respect for them and their lifestyle to leave well enough alone for something that mundane.))
The pace of the match that Diadochi is in constantly ebbs and flows while others look on. The woman moving to gain her feet, ducking away and sliding by Diadochi as she maneuvered her way around. This time trying her best to put him off footing as well:
Attack: 21 Damage: 5
Acrobatics: 10 CON Save: 8
Athletics to get Diadochi off balance as well! 8
She lands a heavy strike against Diadochi. The sound echoing, but, still resolved. The stinging could be a lot worse, only a flinch. While her balance is definitely off, DIadochi's might be as well. (Diadochi, make a STR/Athletics OR DEX/Acrobatics as well to see if she gets advantage on you as well)
Sim, Lafetha, and Yaalin. You all have been watching this match for the past few moments. What do you all do?
Abigail, you continue to explore. Sometimes finding dead ends or spots that the underground pathways have collapsed from age. You do come to a central room where the sound of water is loudest. It's a large square room that seems to have been altered. Stones in the floor removed and large wooden planks reinforcing the walls. Some buckets hang on ropes, and as you look down, it's clear there's a natural underground water system. You can see the outskirts of some walkways that are down below. A even older part of this fort. But it's too dark to make out what else could be there.

Diadochi tries to resist her push athletics3 . Diadochi gives an audible cry of pain as he takes the solid strike. With one hand he grabs her stick, and with the other he tries with another overhanded strike, Attack: 14 Damage: 5 and then uses her stick to try to keep her off balance (letting go of her stick in the process) athletics17. CON SAVE 22
Lafetha breaks away from the crowd and begins to wonder around looking for anything that might help the group in their mission now that everyone is distracted. Maybe a second look without people distracting her will make her notice will help her notice something she missed before.
Yaalins mood lifts slightly as she sees her friend enjoying himself in the ring. Still, as happy as those around her are and despite her companions attempts to sooth her anger everything seems to be tainted with the knowledge of blood magic being performed. She will remain within eyesight of the bout but move further toward the edge of town looking for other evidence of the filth magic and for somewhere she thinks she can perform a ritual without being disturbed.
The Hn’ti woman takes that brief opening of Diadochi’s misfooting to try and land a hard strike:
Attack: 19 Damage: 4 before trying to bring her elbow into his side: Attack: 8 Damage: 2
Resist the Push: 17 / Con: 14
(DC 12. Diadochi rolled 10)
When Diadochi grabs her stick and shoves her, she manages to land a strike across Diadochi. It’s the first time he really felt how these sticks are designed. The stick whacking across his trunk and ears as she falls backwards. But, Diadochi reflexively drops the stick as his face swells a bit, placing out a hand. The throbbing of the other smacks becoming worse with time. Their fight ends, with some laughs and hands patting on Diadochi’s back. It seems that this act has earned him some respect among the group that had gathered around. The woman taps her stick on the ground twice, before walking over and embracing the Loxodon in a hug. She says something, which is translated by your translator; “That one says you fight like cave bear.” She gives a nod. A few other shout as well. “That ones say they welcome a challenge of Cave Bear, once you have your wind.”
Abigail, the original foul smell seems to be gone from where you are. You search around, trying to capture it in your nostrils once again. Unfortunately, it never quite picks back up but another scent does come across. Liquors. The same smell of those horns you had taken from the small hunter’s nook in the ice passage. Heading towards it, you hear a few more voices inside. Peering around the corner you see a few giant barrels of the liquid. The three people inside filling up some water skins and other pouches of it.
Yaalin, you begin to look around the village. Most of the tents are humble. A few with skulls on the front like before, cuts and marks on the skulls that are hard to tell if it was part of a spell, a sacrifice, carved for food, combat, predation. But there are no clear signs of any kind of blood magic. Or really magic for that matter. But as you try to find a quiet spot to perform a ritual in peace, it’s rather difficult. The tents are too scattered around. Kids playing along what could be considered streets, and them definitely taking notice of the tortle. Some even follow at a distance, curious as to where you’re going and what you are. (You can try stealth to find a spot you don’t be seen)
Lafetha, using the distraction you’re able to move around the village a bit more freely. Some of those who are not watching the combat do see you, but don’t bother saying or stopping you as you look around. Glancing on the floor, and seeing the cobble stone work, this is definitely a old fortress. There’s a section of history that’s lost and rarely talked about except, oddly, in scripture of the Faith. When “The Iron Throne guided those of the Faith to Promise.” This could be from a kingdom in those early years that tried to make it elsewhere. You don’t think the Hn’ti really have anything to do with it, outside it’s quite a defensible position. As you make a turn around some tents, you see the Elder at the end of your line of sight. He seems to be talking to a tall (5’6, VERY tall for a Hn’ti who seem to average just about 5’), youthful Hn’ti man. He wears some kind of bone armor, made of humanoid including the skull. Then you start to take note of the design of the bones and their size. He’s wearing the bones of some kind of Hag: a magical creature of old. On his back in a large two handed maul. The Elder looks at you, giving a small nod, causing the other to look at you. He doesn’t nod, just studies you for a second, before returning to his conversation with the Elder. Best guess, this could be the Chief.
When Diadochi gets the hug he'll lift her up and spin her around once. Putting her down and realizing that he was way too woozy to try that. After he regains his footing he says "Cave Bear, I quite like that." He addresses the crowd, "I have seen how you're people duel. I'd like to show you one way my people duel. It requires Patience, Foresight, cunning, and a great many people willing to hit each other with sticks. I'm sure you are up to it." He turns to the translator "Also I need a flied we can break up into an 8 by 12 grid." He's going to try to teach them a simplified version of Loxodonian Dragon Chess. People will be the pieces instead of an automatics capture when two pieces come into the same they attack each other ((it is possible for both pieces to eliminate each other)) different piece types ideally would have different equipment, but Diadochi thinks himself famous for making due.
Yaalin resigns herself to being seen and potentially interrupted but thinks at least it will be mostly children who watch. finding a quiet(ish) spot where she wil stow away the vestments she has been wearing. and begin the ritual casting of Detect Magic. her eyes will glow with a aqua light when the spell takes hold, shaking her head to adjust to the sensation she will make her way back to there she left the others.

If they appear jovial and in good spirits, especially if they are drinking some themselves right now:
Abigail tracks back a little ways, so she is not just stepping out of the shadows, before taking out her own horn and walking into the room with a smile on her face.
"Lets see just how hospitable our hosts are." She thinks to herself, mouth already watering for the liquor.
If she cannot get a read on them, or they appear rushed/about to leave, secretive, angry, or just bored:
Abigail pauses a moment. "Humm... Best not to risk getting caught down here, even if they seem like a friendly people... I doubt I could 'talk' my way out for any infractions I might be committing."
Mouth watering for the liquors, she is going to stay down here a little longer to see if these people eventually leave...
If they do, she is going to dump out her water in a corner and fill her water skin with the liquor... and also drink from the tap. If they do not, she curses her luck, and heads up to the surface.
