What skill would I use to try and recall information on this creature?
(I once played a Monster Slayer Ranger whose only decent feature was that he could recall information on a monster by taking an action to do so. Ever since then, I've been unwilling to part with monster information because it would make that feature obsolete. But if you just want the basics then you can go ahead and roll Arcana.)

House Rule - Environmental Element Interaction: In addition to the action(s), bonus action, object interaction, and reaction you receive each round, you also have the option of an environmental element interaction. This consists of utilizing the environment and objects around you to your advantage. In practice, I am simply expanding on the idea of an object interaction, so for that reason you may not take an object interaction and an environmental interaction on the same turn.
For example, if the fighter decides to pick up a table and use it as a barricade, he gains the +2 bonus of half cover, that is an environmental element/object interaction.

The monster catches Kelric's rapier as it descends, howling with demonic laughter. It claws savagely at Kelric's face and then lopes toward the inn. (Kelric, AOO)

"Hear me, mortals!" It screams to the night sky, pounding on it's chest. "I speak for Mahu, Lord of the Abyss and Tyrant of the Nine Hells! Your world will burn, and your charred bones will stand testament to the power of Mahu!" Grinning with delight, it directs it's terrifying gaze on Misha. (The target must make a DC 13 Constitution saving throw. On a failed save, the target deals only half damage with weapon attacks that use Strength for 1 minute. The target can repeat the saving throw at the end of each of its turns, ending the effect on itself on a success.)
