The 30 minutes walk up the hill to the abandoned manor is long, slow, and mercifully uneventful. Everyone in the group all takes turns watching the surrounded woods, but no scouts or sentries are found along the way. You do note animals even seem to be unbothered. As you approach the manor you can notice the place is in very poor shape. The structural components can be seen throughout as the walls and roof has mostly collapsed. The cobblestone leading up to the manor is cracked and disheveled. Fallen branches and larger trees block some of your paths. Anyone wishing to make a survival check can examine footprints and such. The footprints are leading to a wooden door. About the only door that seems to be in working condition.
Pops joins Petros on the road toward the manor, keeping a keen eye for which windows or openings in the old building may contain lookouts. And carefully considering how far up the road they can walk, before their destination becomes obvious to anyone who may notice them.
Before they get too close, he suggests to Petros, "What say we get off this path altogether and look for a side entrance? I'm not much for ringin' front door bells."
He looks back at Svan, Nyana and Brats, and gestures them to follow.

Pops
"You guys any good at making sense of footprints? I'm a pretty mediocre ranger." He squints at the footprints. What can Pops make of them? Survival check: 15
To Pops, "Agreed. If my previous experience with these guys has taught me anything, its that they're not too keen on unwanted visitors." Petros rubs his swollen jaw recalling the ham-fisted Redbrand at the tavern. Keeping as much cover between himself and potential prying eyes within the dilapidated house Petros begins to make his way around to the northern side of the house. Stealth:15.

Sven
Sven nods to Petros and Pops "Aye, I think it may be wise to not knock on the front door, they didn't seem the hospitable type. And I can't see our little dance earlier doing anything to improve their hospitaility." Sven will glance around at the footprints and see if he sees anything.
The tracks Sven finds places a lot of foot traffic around the door that looks intact. There is no sign of carts or horses coming around the area here. As you all track around the manor, you do not see any other places that seem to be of interested. The manor is mostly empty of furniture and what is not gone is in very poor shape. Some of the material used to build the manor, wood and stones, are also missing. You assume that if you were to look hard enough, you'd find they've been repurposed in Phandalin proper. Seeing how everything above ground level is in poor shape, Pops can ascertain that the door leads down into a basement cellar area.
"Caves and basements! We should really look for adversaries who prefer fewer dank spaces." Petros will get close to the door and place his ear upon it to see if he can hear any goings-on inside. Perception:9.

"It would appear that this is the only way in or out. Can't say as I like that prospect, but maybe it is beneficial as we have been given a target that has a bounty (Glasstaff) so that would help us be able to corner him. If we are going to do this then lets quit *****footing around and do this!" Sven moves to the door and checks it to see if he is able to open it. If it opens he only opens it a crack and listens through the crack.

"I can live with it. I've spent half my life in danker spaces than this. I'll take a hole in the ground to the wide open spaces anytime."
Is the door vertical, or more like a bulkhead? Any cracks to see through? Is there a knob? Does it appear locked? Investigation: 7
Pops will give a listen (and a peek, if practical) himself. Perception: 11
The door is vertical, like a regular upright door. Not cracks in the door, but there is a knob. A small twist tells you its unlocked. It's a worn door so there is some play with is.

Unsure of the idea of bursting into a thug hideout Ny stands back out of the way as the other attempt to enter the building. “ This doesn’t seem like the best idea, we should make it quick and use the element of surprise to our advantage. Please be aware I am exhausted and will not be able to heal you but will do my best to spare you from dying if need be. Please be careful, we NEED to stay alert and NOT split up this time! ” Ny reaches out and places her hand on Svens shoulder. “ May your sense be about you! ” (Guidance)

Sven
Not hearing anything directly inside, Sven opens the door and slips inside looking around and whispers "Move quietly and carefully, you can't know what to expect down here." He then starts checking corners and watching for pressure plates.
The door opens onto a five-foot-wide landing fifteen feet above a large cellar, with stone steps descending to the floor in two short flights. Another door stands beneath the stairs to the north. A large stone cistern occupies the western part of the room, whose walls are lined with kegs and barrels. (The blue dot is where you entered.)
Pops silently makes his way down the northern set of stairs, keeping extremely alert. At the bottom of the stairs he takes a closer look at the door under the stairway. He puts his ear to it, and examines the opening mechanism. He keeps one eye on that pool while he does so. And that's a second door to the north of the cistern?

You don't hear anything coming from the other side of the door. Yes, that is another door to the north there.
Petros makes his way down the southern set of stairs towards the southwestern corner of the room near the barrels. Stealth: 19
He will investigate the barrels and cistern, looking for evidence of its purpose. Investigation: 21.
The barrels contain salted pork and beef, flour, sugar, apples, and ale. The cistern is a rectangular reservoir and is clean and filled with cold, fresh water. It is 10 feet deep with a rim 2 feet higher than the surrounding floor (so that the bottom of the cistern is 8 feet below the floor). A pipe exits out above the cistern, you assume to fill it from somewhere. Give me an investigation check. Are you doing anything with the barrels?
As far as checks go, I'm going to limit it to one per room to make things easier. If I need any other checks, I'll ask for them.
As one of many talented house performers at several of the local taverns in Mirabar, Petros has been witness to a host of extracurricular smuggling practices found in alleyways and basements. Given different circumstances it easily could have been Petros himself shoving black market harmonicas into the gills of preserved codfish. Petros studies the outside of the barrel looking for any unusual markings and then plunges his arm into one of the barrels as far as it will go.

Brats is going to take out his bow and ready himself, aiming it at the door in case something comes barging through it. "Be careful guys."

Sven is able to crack open the door an inch or two but does not hear anything moving inside. There is the slightest trickle of water you can make out.
Brats stands back and nocks an arrow, now trained at the door.
