"Nicely done, Kir," Keyleth says, her muscles relaxing after the fighter manages not to turn into stone. "I'm still not quite getting why putting the torches out there was the thing, unless Obo'laka just likes to give purely ironic advice, but maybe that's all there is to it; I'm probably overthinking."
"In any case, that's one more down, unless of course we all trip a massive spike trap on the way out of the building, I suppose. Onward?"
Leaving the shrine there is still plenty of daylight left. To the north you see thousands of bats swirl above a great ruin. Behind a 15-foot-high circular wall, you see crumbling arcades, vine-choked statues, empty plazas, and buildings overgrown with banyan roots. Streets that aren’t flooded are choked with rubble.
"That looks like a promising next stop. I wonder why all of those bats are flying about in the daylight, though?" Kirinar says, looking towards the north. "Mr. Nails, have you come across that before?"
"Well, only one way to find out, I suppose," Keyleth says.
OoC: By my records we have 6 cubes, with one presumably in the lava island, and this other building the last other unexplored location. That only makes 8 though. Am I missing one? Is there somewhere else we haven't explored yet?
While lookng around the palace of appears empty and looted of anything of value. Lifting aside some palm fronds, you uncover a narrow, rough-hewn passage descending into the earth.
"Well without light I'm as blind as a bat - not that bats are really blind - down there. So lets see if Mystara can help and shed some light on the area!"Dr A says as he casts Light on a rock he pulls from his pouch
The passage winds into the bowels of the earth. The air is wet and sticky, and the walls are slick with moisture. Harmless centipedes crawl across the floor as you descend. Eventually a cavern appears and an underground river opens before you. Stalactites hang low over its surface, and dripping water echoes in the dark.
You see a couple row boats at the edge of the water and four strange serpent looking creatures stand nearby.
The obviously see the light approaching from the tunnel and see you emerge.
Seeing the strange creatures - which in all his long life Dr A has not seen before - Dr A mutters to himself "ahbut I wonder what these strange beasties are thinkin'! Do they mean us harm? Best find out!"he then uses one charge from the Helm of Telepathy to cast [Tooltip Not Found] on the nearest creature.

Dr A is able to determine that the creatures intend to attack as they are there to guard this area and kill any but the snake like creatures that are their masters.
Seeing that the creatures are hostile, Kirinar says to Ransyl "Let's bring the fight to them! Come on!!" He move forward 15' and attacks the snake-creature to his right. Attack: 23 Damage: 9
(If this attack hits:)The fighter uses his special tactical training to distract the creature so that it won't see the next attack coming! (Extra damage on my attack: 4 + the next attack by someone else against this target has advantage =)
(If Ransyl moves within 5' of Kirinar, and a creature attacks him, it is with disadvantage due to my Reaction to protect him with my shield.)
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.

"I should probably scout ahead a bit," Keyleth offers. She starts down the passageway, trying to keep quiet and get a look at what's ahead.
