Keyleth surveys the area for signs of immediate danger. If she doesn't see any, she will go inspect the bodies and see if she can figure out what kind of creature killed them (and whether they left anything behind that might be of interest to a group of living adventurers).
Perception (looking for hidden creatures or traps, adv. from eyes of the eagle ): 21
Kirinar keeps an eye out but all he sees are the two dead bodies.
Keyleth begins to look at the bodies. Their armor and gear is all torn apart but she does find a bag under of one the bodies. Looking inside she finds a horn. Nothing else of value is found.
"This is interesting," Keyleth says to no one in particular as she picks up the horn and examines it carefully. She hands it to Dr Arbataveu, figuring that, with his scholarly background and interest in the region he has the best chance of knowing whether the lion's head carving has any significance in local lore.
OoC: Was she unable to figure out what might have killed these explorers?
You are unable to determine what creature or otherwise killed the two adventurers. Their bodies are torn apart and partially eaten. But they have been here too long to know more.
"I think we've found all there is to find here," Keyleth says. "Qawasha, if I'm reading the map correctly it would seem that Port Castigliar and Mezro are the closest points of interest. Do you know anything about what we can expect to find at either one?"
"Port Castigliar is a port in name only. In fact, it’s nothing more than a stretch of beach with an abandoned supply depot, a few battered huts made of bamboo and thatch, and a defiled graveyard. Undead drove away the inhabitants long ago, and ghouls dug up the graves. You are unlikely to find anything there."
He then continues,
"Mezro was destroyed by the Spellplague. The ruins have been thoroughly ransacked by the Flaming Fist in the name of Baldur’s Gate, and Flaming Fist patrols still visit the site regularly, partly as training for new recruits, partly to make sure nothing was missed. If you seek this Soulmonger it will not be found there. Anything that is to be found there has been found by the Fist."

"Aahh but this is interesting, I wonder what it does"Dr Arbatavyu mutters to himself as examines the horn carefully (Arcana test = 19) (History test = 23, Investigation test = 10).

After listening to Qawasha explanation/commentary, he says "what about heading further up the river Olung to Ataz Muhaha?"
"Ataaz Muhahah is the Laughing Gorge. It is a gaping chasm crossed by an ancient stone span called the Monkey Bridge. The structure got its name from the monkeys that perch on its walls and hang by their tails from its underside. If you wish to cross the river that would be the way to go. There is no other way to cross without boats."
Qawasha answers.
As Dr.A inspects the horn he recalls seeing something like it in his studies at Candlekeep. He is able to identify it as a Horn of Blasting.
Looking at the map with the guide, Kirinar shrugs and says, "Maybe we can swing towards Mezro on the way to the Laughing Gorge. That way, if we need it, we could get supplies or help from the Fist patrols before crossing the river. Then it looks like we can explore the central part of the eastern area on the map and aim for Kir Sabal. Then, we'll see how we're doing!"
Dr Arbuavyu finishes looking at the Horn and says "aahh so that's what it does." He turns to the party and says "this might be useful, albeit a bit risky, if we find ourselves overwhelmed! If nobody minds I'll look after it for safekeeping?"
Timber shudders at the mention of more ghouls. "Yeah, ghouls be nasty creatures indeed!" and then at the mention of the laughing gorge, "I would like to see some monkeys though!"
"If you so wish, we can head to Port Castigliar. I can guide you there."
You begin to move into the jungle, leaving the old camp and dead adventurers behind. As the party begins to move into the jungle and head in the right direction a rustle in the canopy above gets your attentions as a large snake falls into the midst of the party. It hisses loudly
"A giant constrictor snake, be wary friends, if it gets a hold of you it will crush your life!" Qawasha calls out
The beast is within striking distance of each of you as it has fallen into the middle of the party. You effectively have the creature surrounded.

Dr Arbutaveyu raises his left hand to the snake and each of the nine stars tattooed into his palm flashes once with with a deep silvery blue light and a ball of red mist forms. As Dr Arbutaveyu calls out "Lady of Mysteries look favourably upon the actions of me and my colleagues!" the mist then transforms into a beam of blinding light - predominantly silver and blue - that speeds towards the giant snake (Attack: 8 Damage: 11)
(OOC: If the beam hits Kirinar has advantage. Not sure how I managed to generate 27 with 4d6 but obviously got something wrong. Looks like it missed anyway and all Dr Arbutaveyu did was blast a coconut tree or similar. I didn't touch the dice roll so don't know why it raised the red banner of cheating)
The fighter spins when he hears the snake land behind him and in the middle of his party. Quickly sizing up the danger, he grabs the morningstar from its belt hook, steps in quickly, and yells at the creature to draw its attention as he swings the weapon. (Attack: 6 Damage: 8)

He then eyes the snake, clicks his fingers to summon a ball of flame which he then throws at the snake.
Fire Bolt Attack: 16 Damage: 8
The bolt of fire hits the snake burning its flesh
The snake then lunges at Qawasha and bites him on the arm for 7 pts.
Qawasha casts Shillelagh and then strikes at the snake with his staff (Attack: 6 Damage: 9) but the staff does no damage as it strikes the creature.
