Just before Kirinar jumps, Dr Arbutaveyu touches him on the shoulder saying "may the Lady of Mysteries also guide you in this endeavour" casting Guidance as he does so.
When it is Dr Arbutaveyu's turn he says"Lady of Mysteries look after this old Tortle"casting Guidance as he clasps the rope and swings himself across (Athletics 3). As he starts to slip from the rope he calls out "Ubtao your help would also be appreciated"(uses his inspiration - (19)) and the guidance 1.
OoC: Ah, ok. Didn't know you I could use it retroactively: 6. (Out of curiosity, what mechanical benefit does the rope have? Reduce the DC? I've never quite gotten a handle on how ropes are supposed to function in 5e mechanics.)
((All good, its OK in my book. If you had chosen to try and cross by using the vines below it was a DC10 to cross. I treated the rope as the same thing.))
Keyleth grabs the rope to cross the gap but doesn't get a firm grip and begins to slip but at the last second she is able to pull herself up and make it safely to the other side.
The others also safely make it across and Qawasha and Artus soon follow and the whole party is safely across the bridge.
100 xp each for crossing safely
Qawasha address the group.
"Kir Sabal is south, though exactly how far or where is hard to tell by your map. We now enter areas of Chult few have explored and returned to share its secrets. Do wish to have me continue to navigate the jungle or would another like to take my place? I have skill in survival but perhaps not as much as others here? (+4 to Survival)"
For 2 days Qawasha leads the party south towards Kir Sabal. But on the third day he runs into trouble and gets lost. The next day he is able to figure out where the party is and they continue.
The party is now in the fourth day after leaving the bridge. It is early afternoon when somewhere off in the distance a large beast lets out a ferocious roar! A tracking (survival) DC15 will accurately identify the direction and distance.
Dr Arbutaveyu puts a hand to his ear and listens intently (Survival 8) and says "sorry got no idea how far away it is or in what direction but it sounds big and cranky!"
Artus calls to the party. "We are being hunted, though I know not from where or by what. Dinosaur by the sounds of it. Stop and form a circle, there may be more than one."
The group quickly stop and forms a tight circle, everyone on high alert and scanning the jungle. Another roar comes from behind them and you turn to see what it is. A large dinosaur steps from the woods.
It roars again and you hear the sound of another come crashing out of the jungle from behind you. They come at you from both sides at once!
Initiative Keyleth (21/21), Kirinar (28/28), Dr A (24/24), Timber (14/14), Qawasha, Dino's, Artus
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Keyleth eyes the dinosaur closest to her as she draws her longbow, pausing for a moment, head cocked, to get a read on its movements. She then backs away toward the interior of the circle formed by the party.
Insightful fighting: insight check (23) contested by the opponent's deception check to gain unconditional sneak attack for one minute.
If successful, she will fire immediately; otherwise she will ready an attack until an ally is within 5' of it.
(Sorry for the delays on my part - internet was down at my house since Wednesday! Cable guy just left...)
Kirinar wants to rush the nearest dinosaur and smash it, but he knows better than to leave his comrades in the jungle with at least one other predator...so he stands his ground and waits for the beast to get within striking range before swing hard with his morningstar! "I'll distract this one in front of me - when I do, someone make sure to hit again while it's not paying you any attention!" he yells to the group.
Readied action: Attack! 9 Damage: 11 If it hits, Kirinar will use a Distracting Strike (adds 1 damage and next attack by someone else has advantage.)
Because this is the first real fight in a while, his adrenaline is pumping and the young fighter uses an action surge to strike again! Attack #2! 23 Damage: 7

Dr Arbutaveyu looks across at the dinosaur in the Northwest quadrant saying "I really didn't enjoy being a dinosaur's plaything last time. Perhaps this will scare him off!"and the tattooed stars on his hands once again flash a deep blue with tinges of red as a beam of light flashes towards the dinosaur (Attack: 13 Damage: 15) and as he sets fire to a nearby tree Dr Arbutaveyu mutters to himself "and then again perhaps not!"
Keyleth backs away to the south, jogging as she draws another arrow from her quiver. She attempts to find some cover to hide in the vegetation (Stealth: 18) before pulling back her bow string and firing at the same dinosaur she had hit before.
Attack (adv. if hiding is successful): 25 Damage: 32
Edit: Hide is moot since the first attack die was the higher one

Kirinar makes the running jump and clears the distance landing safely on the other side.
"Impressive!" Keyleth shouts across the gap to Kirinar. "Alright, ready for us to climb across?"
Once Kirinar is braced or has the rope secured, Keyleth begins making her way across. (Athletics?: 2)

When his turn comes up, Timber tightropes his way across the gorge.

"I am not nearly as familiar with these types of jungle, so you're a better guide than me!" Kirinar says respectfully.
Love God. Love Others. Any Questions?
"I Agree with Kirinar. You are the guide, I think we should trust your experience."

Timber closes his eyes for a second and concentrates. As he does so, his body is covered by a shimmery glean. (Mage Armor - Quickened Spell):
Wild Magic: 13
He then follows by sending a bolt of flame at the dinosaur to the west.
Attack: 6 Damage: 1
Keyleth (21/21), Kirinar (28/28), Dr A (24/24), Timber (14/14), Qawasha, Dino W (30), Dino E (7), Artus
Kirinar's first strike misses but the second draws blood.
DrA tries to light a tree on fire while Timber armors up and then also tries to burn a tree.
Qawasha casts Barkskin on himself. "I don't want to be eaten by any dinosaurs." He then also casts Shillelagh as a bonus action.
Both dinosaurs dash forward covering the distance to the party.
Artus draws his longbow and shoots 3 quick arrows at the dinosaur to the west.
Attack: 14 Damage: 8
Attack: 11 Damage: 10
Attack: 7 Damage: 10
