"Sir we have a deal. I'll be at the inn when do you think you will be done?" Dox pays 100 gold up front. It wasn't asked for but seems reasonable with a discount. If nothing else happens Dox returns to the inn to catch up with the others and wait.
Mat, for the most part people speak well of him but you sense it's because they're fearful. His ruthlessness for those who disagree with him or displease him is well known. His family has owned the keep for as long as anyone can remember. He was not supposed to inherit the keep. His older brother died in an unfortunate accident. If you want to give me a persuasion check to try and get any more detailed stories you're welcome to, but everyone is reluctant to speak ill of him.
Dox, He happily accepts the down payment and says he will deliver the horse and wagon tonight to the inn for you.
Mateu will speak calmly to them and do his best to seem like he is someone that can be trusted. If that does not work then he will focus on one person who seems to know the most for a full minute instead use his Words of Terror to frighten them into tell him what they know.

So yeah if this gets me no where a basic peasant needs to make a dc 14 wisdom saving throw... But hey even if they succeed no one knows.
As Mateu talks to the person he had been questioning about the Lord, his voice in their ears changes to become terrifying. As the bard's voice changes, his skin turns a sickly shade and his eyes turn into black holes that seem to be drawing the person in. "Now tell me everything you know about your Lord."
(Thought I would give it a bit of flavor to make this ability bit more interesting. I kind of like the idea it effects them mentally and makes them see stuff as the voice charms or frightens them.)
OK, so you manage to get one person to talk freely by making them more scared of you then Lord Wolf.
They say "He's awful! People go up to that keep and never return! A friend of my cousin was summoned to the keep to make new drapes for him and no one ever heard from her again! People said that he took a fancy to her and she's still living there but nobody has heard from her and and no letters are ever returned. Once my cousin went to to ask about her and was turned away. There's something not right going on up there. I'd stay away from that place if I was you."
Mateu nods and chases them off as he makes notes of this so that he can gather his thoughts. Once the group returns to the bar he will tell them each in private so that there was less of a chance of someone listening in on a group conversation.
Halleck will have been following the team around, and will hand 100 gold back to Dox, and will pay the other 125 after ((I'll just deduct the full thing now. I also changed from the 2k to the 770gp that Creed had)) "Our unfortunate friend will sponsor our cart. It will be nice to get on the road soon. Though I, too, am curious, and a bit concerned about this Lord to whom we'll be playing..."
Dox will pocket the gold and take a seat as far from anyone as he can and use message to have Halleck discreetly explain.
Dox will also find time this afternoon to buy some provisions from Skip if we're gonna be on the road for a couple days. Basics, dry meat, snack of potatoes etc...
Halleck will message back saying "I didn't want the guards to take it, so I grabbed Creed's coin pouch. There wasn't much, but it can at least go to our cart and horses."
((I'm assuming there is either some honor, or some great pay involved in playing for the Lord Wolf yeah? Sounds like a scary place to go...))
Seeing Mimzy walk down, Halleck will hand her a glass of wine and say "Things got a bit out of control. Though let's chill out a bit, and hopefully we can get on the road soon yeah? Should we crash here another night?"
Mimzy gives Halleck a friendly yet seductive smile as he hands her a glass of wine. As she takes a sip ((--she telepathically speaks to him alone using her Kalashtar Mind Link Racial Trait temporarily giving him the ability to respond back her telepathically if he desires--)). 'Out of control? In what way? Don't tell you bought a used dung cart or a bag of magic beans! If you boys want to stay here another night, fine by me as long as we make to the big gig, I'm good.'

You can speak telepathically to any creature you can see within 60 ft. of you. You don’t need to share a language with the creature for it to understand your telepathic messages, but the creature must be able to understand at least one language or be telepathic itself.
As a bonus action when you’re speaking telepathically to a creature within 60 ft. that can see you, you can give that creature the ability to speak telepathically to you until the start of your next turn.
Halleck, smiling back, will reply "I just mean about loosing Creed... It shouldn't have happened... For the cart, Dox has that handled. It should be fine.. And I'd like to get on the road, gotta get the sight of Creed outa my mind..."
Halleck will also roll a cigarette and light it using prestidigitation, sigh, and take a drink from his glass.
Mimzy nods at Halleck and looks at the others and speaks aloud to everyone, "well boys are we staying another night here or are we heading out once the transport is ready... if so when will that be? I don't care either way... as well, did you manage to recruit a roadie for the band while you were out? I also hate to be a ***** about it but we need to come to an agreement for the band's name... we're going to have to have that settled by the time we get the gig you know."
((When will the cart be done? If it's late then it wouldn't make sense to go out only to sleep in the cart. But if it's still got hours left it might work out better))
(Cart is done "this evening". DM can tell us but I took that as 4-6pm. Question is how much light to we have? If we can get more than 2-3 hours in it might be worth it to go tonight.
Horse should get us there faster, I don't know if its 2 days instead of 3, but getting in a little early might give us time for recon)
