Alexia bites her lip. "I think..." she begins softly, glancing at the others, "I think they could be far worse. Nobody seems...particularly biased or...cruel. A few of them are a bit...oblivious, but none of them are bad people. I...haven't really talked to them much, though." She stares at the table. "Riannis likes them though, which is...a good sign. She's good at reading people." Alexia shifts slightly. "But I'm not a very good judge of people. I mean...I don't have much experience with them, so...I might be completely wrong." She bites her lip and flushes.

Arc watches the proceedings. He doesn't need to eat or drink so when Valen offers drinks around Arc gets his attention "You are kind to help so many. Here I want to help reimburse some of the money you spent to make these people happy." Arc holds out two gold suns to Valen as an offer.
After that Arc will stay in a corner not wanting to draw attention to the fact that he doesn't need to food or drink. He watches Riannis again with great interest, wondering how she senses the world. He keeps is eyes on his companions to learn more about who they are and what motivates them.
Each of you spend the rest of the evening lightly drinking, eating and singing - a welcome reprieve from the danger of the jungles. You are rarely acknowledged by the others in the inn, aside from Galius who draws a few soft claps from the other patrons for his welcome music. Eventually, as the other patrons retire to their rooms, you all feel the exhaustion set in and head up yourselves. Those who are roomed with Ishaz find the seafolker fast asleep in his room, a bundle of used dressings left at the foot of the bed as a result of him applying new bandages to his neck. There is a single candle in each room to navigate by, and eventually you all make it into soft beds and soft dreams.
The next morning, you all wake to an inclusive breakfast of cold meats and cheeses, with juices and water to wash them down with. After thanking the innkeeper, you all resume your journey on the main road after Corrigan gathers the wagons. Spirits are lifted due to the comfortable stay, and even Ishaz seems to have lost his tempestuous mood.
You soldier on along the main road, occasionally passing other travellers to and from Barmouth. Corrigan purchases a few small boxes of blue grapes from a passing merchant, which he shares with the rest of the group. Eventually, as the day reaches late afternoon, you emerge from the alley bored through the jungle into a massive expanse of deforestation. Alexia and Lucina feel a great sense of loss at the picture on front of them, and even Arc can sense the lack of life in the area. For what seems to stretch for miles southwards, all trees and the majority of plant-life have been felled and uprooted. You can even see the coast a few miles to the west.
Further along the road and the area devoid of trees, you can see the industrious town of Barmouth. It stands yet a few miles from you, possibly another two hour's worth of journey. You can see the high threatening stone walls of the town, dotted with towers and battlements, leading up to a solitary keep atop a hill. The practical looking fortification lacks decoration, but is in a perfect strategic location. From this angle it is hard to see the ship-filled docks that protrude onto the western sea, but you can see the Rat-Tail River gently meandering its way eastward, carving a divide through the centre of the town. You can see that the closest, northernmost gate to you is overwhelmed by ramshackle wooden houses and tents, an overpopulated slum hanging drearily to the northern wall of the town. From your vantage point, you can see that the outer edge of the southern side of the town holds a large encampment of resplendent red and gold tents. The Foarish Legion. After you notice the large town, you begin to notice the fertile land on the northern side of the river, on the side with the keep. The rolling grasslands have been toiled to produce fields and fields of grapevines, with a few walled farmhouses situated amongst them - surely the peripherals of the famous Vintner's Guild. Far to the south, beyond the town, you can barely make out what looks to be a mining operation in the foothills near to where the jungle reforms beyond the desolation.
"Right," Ishaz says, clapping his hands together, "we'll stop here for a quick bite, thirty minutes at most. Afterwards, we'll follow the main avenue through the Elfslums into the Crafts District. I'll drop off the cargo and collect the payment, then meet you all in a tavern to finalise the job. Any questions?" He sits atop the wagon and takes out one of the small boxes of grapes to pick at as he awaits any additions from the rest of the group.

Conor stands off to the side a little saying nothing but he pays a lot of attention to Ishaz, as he offers up a quiet prayer for assistance and tries to discern whether the seafolker is being honest with them.

You ascertain that the Seafolker is being honest about his intention, but seems to be alluding to the fact that he wants to drop off the cargo alone. He is probably hiding something, but he seems genuine about returning with wages.

Alexia relaxed somewhat on the road, not staying to the edges of the group and even talking quietly with Az if the sunblessed is willing to engage in conversation with her. However, as soon as the caravan reaches the treeless area, Alexia falls completely silent, a couple tears slipping down her cheeks as she walks. She pulls her hood further up so that her ears are completely covered and shakes her head mutely at Ishaz's question.
Riannis has been flying around, mostly near Valen trying to get another look at his prayer book, during the trip. As the caravan gets near the town, she turns invisible and flies curiously into Galius's horn, wanting to know how it works. She flies out if he goes to play it.
Az does talk with Alexia and Arc. She too is struck by the wanton desolation of the jungle for the road sighing with a heavy heart at yet more proof of humanoid greed and disregard for life in other forms. Az says as much in a whisper to Alexia and Arc as a brooding expression consumes her usual neutral, contemplative one.
Then later when Ishaz makes his announcement she's curious to know why he suddenly wants to be alone but has an inkling their elves, sunblessed, and mechanical motley crew might be the cause.
"No need of guards in the city? One would think more so considering what I know of such places," Az will say loudly for the party to hear. "Maybe two or three of us should come...just to make sure you and your cargo..." she trails off looking now at the barrels that cost a man and a mule's life dubiously before returning her hard gaze on the seafolker, "reach there final destination without further incident. Seems foolhardy to part ways now," she adds crossing her arms over her armored chest.

The town itself is patrolled well my angelic friend, the only danger to me is that which your group bring upon me." His jovial mood falters slightly as his hand twitches towards his neck, but his smile quickly returns.

”Ishaz seems like he doesn’t want us along. Perhaps someone could uh.... unobtrusively follow him and find out why he’s so embarrassed of us now that we’re here?”
Az winces seemingly angered at first by the intrusion into her mind but does not round on the party to glare at Conor or Galius whose voices assaulted her in near unison! She heard them but does not answer and keeps her eyes on Ishaz.
"You're the boss," Az retorts looking annoyed before adding, "to make a point clear slums are usually the symptom of a failure in the leadership of a people than the people living in such poor conditions themselves," the fallen angel adds with an icy tone before turning her back on the seafolker and then glaring pointedly at Conor and Galius before giving both a curt nod. Az then rejoins Alexia and Arc with arms still folded across her slim chest.
