Rough round for the good guys. Misses all around. Thank goodness Ireena was there!
The monster is essentially too stupid to be distracted. Fope should count himself lucky; perhaps he has overlooked that Kif has the benefit of Barnaby's Protection From Evil spell. It does, however, hit Kif twice, dealing 20 damage! Kif is once again blinded, restrained, and unable to breathe. A successful DC 14 Athletics check will free you; otherwise you will need a DC 14 Con save at the start of the creature's next turn to avoid more damage.
Puddin comes racing down and puts both hands on Kif's exposed ankle. She rolls a 19 on her Athletics check, and pulls him free!!! He flops into the water, where Puddin cradles him.
The beast now turns its rage against Puddin, for taking away its meal.
It drops one enormous fist on her, as she tries too late to escape. It's a terrible blow, but she's still standing. Barely. You can see its second roll here.
Ireena has now gripped the gate itself, which is beginning to slide upward in its mooring. She makes another Athletics check, and the gate is about 18 inches up.
Puddin looks back at Barnaby, acknowledging his shouted instruction. She grimaces, and casts Healing Word at second level, using her last spell slot of the day. Kif is healed for 21 points!
I want to make sure everyone understands the answer to Josh's question about how the creature is doing: Right now, he's just mad. He looks like he's still ready to fight for a long time.
Barnaby looks at the rising gate and gets ready to bolt, but a thought occurs to him.
We have lain this entire family to rest except for the infant. This must be his remains, left by some unholy sacrifice on this altar. What a damned damned pity.
Fire has always been a respectful way to honor the dead. Rest easy child, and may your soul move quickly to the next world.
Barnaby launches a fire bolt point blank at the remains of the child, using his inspiration to help ensure that the bones are burnt completely...to hit with advantage: 19 or 21 + bless 2 for 7 damage.
With the briefest of sad looks, Barnaby turns and runs for the gate. Come friends! He will stop just on the other side to help Ireena hold it open for the others, though mechanically, I believe he will have to wait for his next turn.
It's only up 24 inches (6 inches from when Ireena made the huge effort and to get it started, and 18 more). If you want to try to slip under, little gnome, maybe taking advantage of the gaps between the spikes, I will let you with a successful DC 10 Acrobatics check. It will be harder for larger folks. If you fail the check, stop at the inside of the gate.
Baby Walter's remains scatter across the room, blasted by the fire spell.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Barnaby would also try and lift the gate if it takes anything more than easy passage to duck the 10" to get through to the other side. I will roll an athletics check, but feel free to save it for next round given how much I've already done this round. Athletics: 5
Fope, is it your intention to run if Kif successfully gets away? If that’s the case, you can say so. Remember, you can do conditionals: “If Kif successfully runs, I will run. Otherwise I will stand and fight. These are my rolls.”
Føpé can attack and flee without creating an attack of opportunity, because he's an agile little bugger. If he finds himself alone next to the monster, he'll fall back as far as necessary to be with the party. When Føpé does flee, he'll grab Revenge on the way if the pup is in danger.
He can disengage as a bonus action. That is not quite the same as fleeing without triggering an attack of opportunity, but for our purposes here it works.

Kif runs for the gate. Fope, seeing Kif get to the gate, uses his bonus action to disengage, grabs Revenge, and runs across the room.
Between the lot of you, you manage to get the gate up a few more inches and you all get clear.
Puddin turns her grimace from Barnaby to Kif, who is now the one yelling at her. She dips her hand in the water to help herself up and begins to run across the room.
Puddin, alas, does not get far. The enormous monster seizes this opportunity for an opportunity attack and stomps on her with an enormous foot, dealing 18 points of damage. She is down. If negative hit points were a thing, she'd be at -17.
It is now the monster's turn.
It looks down at Puddin, who is not moving, and you can see over your shoulders that its fury is unabated. It crushes her unconscious body with first one fist, and then the other. Those of you looking all see that her body is just destroyed. Gore sprays across the far end of the room as the creature bellows, and you know that Puddin is beyond rescue.
The creature splashes after you in the water, and you see that it is not very fast. It looks as dangerous as ever, and you already know the mortal peril of standing and fighting, but you might be able to outrun it.

Everybody go!
We'll call this, the butt hide attack: 14 Damage: 14 attack!
And I finally managed to use the bless!
Ireena lowers her crossbow and starts pulling on the wheel to raise the gate. It doesn't budge. Yet.
A 14 just misses! So many just misses!
Fire bolt FFS: 7+2 to miss for 3 damage.
Lolz
Kif is down
Puddin comes racing down and puts both hands on Kif's exposed ankle. She rolls a 19 on her Athletics check, and pulls him free!!! He flops into the water, where Puddin cradles him.
Heal him Puddin! Heal him!
Edit: How does Mr. Baddy Pants look? Edge of death, heading there, or nowhere near.
Not especially near. You’ve injured him, and he’s mad.

Is that what you want to do? Choose wisely.
