OK, folks how do we deal with these probably werewolfish folks who have a lair here, probably, and have grabbed children under our watch while we were fighting their kidnappers. I'm all for just walking up to them and demanding they give us the children and we can all be on our way. Sure people like them have attacked us, but we don't know if they were those folks or not, and what is their feeling towards Strahd...running into a clearing attacking strangers puts us in the category of murder hobo for sure

Barnaby Arcana: 10
Chubs meanwhile has spotted some small purple flowers that he finds quite pretty and is dropping some petals into his mug to see if they make a good brew.
Barnaby: I'm not sure if they are the werewolves, but it seems that they have the children, and I am guessing that they are not their family, which suggestst that they are up to no good. Nevertheless, killing them outright without a discussion seems, as Kif suggests, ungentlemanly. So, here's the plan, same as before, Kif crawls to the edge of the woods claiming he has fallen and broken his leg or some such nonsense. The rest of us will hide and remain hidden. Once they have come forwards, Kif can expose his own ruse explaining that he was being cautious, but is looking for the children who we believe to be here. If they show aggression or signs of nefariousness, we will set upon them as they clearly deserve. If they are helpful and honest, then we will treat with them as we see fit. Either way, we have put some distance between them and reinforcements, and, hopefully, we will have the drop on them.
Good enough. They approach cautiously, not getting close. But they both come a little closer, away from the doorway into the cliffside. I will have a map (I hope) later this evening. Feel free to announce what you intend to do.
Oh, thank goodness, someone here in this forsaken land. Say, have either of you seen a pair of children, recently. They seem to have run off and are probably scared and hungry and I've hurt myself chasing after them
Misalyk is hiding, having already rolled his Stealth. Please place yourself on the map. I'll need Performance or Stealth checks from Barnaby and Chubs (or something else, I guess), depending on their play here.
I'd like to lobby for advantage on the stealth check given the time to prepare and a forest with plenty of space to hide. Barnaby, in particular, does not intend to be close....say 60' off.
No advantage on Stealth. The whole point of that roll is that you're trying to sneak, so your time to prepare (as I see it) is the whole reason you're getting the roll. I might feel differently if the party was trying to sneak up on fishermen as they looked out at sea, but here you have guards who you are trying to stealthily approach head on.
But, if Barnaby is 60 feet back, the DC will be quite low. If Chubs is trying to creep up to the edge of the clearing, his DC will be higher. I'll adjust the DC based on where you put yourselves. So please place and roll, in that order.

AC and HP are up to date. Barnaby's AC does not include Mage Armor which is currently on. I will add it if you want, but I imagine that I will frequently forget to change it.
Ok. This is as far as they approach Kif, with the male figure having come further than the female figure.
Oy! You! Get lost. No kids here.
He gives Kif a glare and begins to turn, as if to go back to where he was, though he does not take his eyes off the curious armored, limping dwarf.
They are where they are. You should see a line about 10-15' behind the further one. That's the cliff wall, with protrusions signifying the carved arch surrounding the doorway.
. . . and if you guys are ready to fight, then say what you're doing and roll initiative. Or, if you're doing something else, feel free to anticipate some other check. If it's not the right roll, I'll say so. But if it is the right one, it'll let us keep going.

No Kids? I followed tracks, here...look, I'll show you if you wanna take a look, maybe I'm missing something...but watch out, there's big giant dog craps in these woods...just missed a few on the way up here
Kif points out something on the ground
1 This can be either performance, persuasion or deception...all the same crappy modifier

Sound good?
sounds good. lets go
Kif moves to the edge of the woods and does his best Surak impression "Help me, Spock, help me"
He'll wait leaning against a tree with his ax under his arm like a crutch
Ok, let's get a Performance check on that one, Mr. Brando.
edit: I'm not saying you should use it, but you have inspiration.
I'll save the inspiration
15 performance

Also, you should be able to edit the button above your heads. Blue for AC, red for remaining HP. Please make sure they're correct. Thanks!

Chubs Stealth: 19
Ok. Please try to keep it accurate. Kif, please let me know when you're situated. I'll move the guards at that time and then we'll proceed.
Kif is on the map
(Post coming tonight. )
(I'm on map and my hp/ac is correct)
