You make your way out to the road. What's your marching order? You can walk 3 abreast, if you want, or single file. Or any combination thereof.

Føpé will tend to walk besides whoever else is in front, so as to get the best view and not have to suffer any one else's farts.

I see, Fope and either Puddin or Kif up front, Barnaby in the middle with Ireena just boring the pants off of her with his wandering stories and rear guard handled by whichever of Kif and Puddin is not up front. But, I am open to other suggestions.

Sounds like Barnaby and Ireena in the rear. Off we go.  

The party proceeds west from Barovia, reaching the crossroads without incident. Ireena gasps when she sees the gallows, though she says nothing about what she saw, or did not see, hanging from the noose. 

You push westward, pressing deeper into the valley than you have before. It is roughly noon, and you're beginning to contemplate where to stop for a rest and some food, when Fope and Barnaby notice - at the last moment, before Kif stumbles into it - a thick spider web stretching across the road. The strands of the web are quite thick, though there are also gaps in the web itself large enough for you to slip through, if you're careful.

Peering into the gloomy forest on both sides of the road, you see nothing other than tress and darkness. 

I wonder if it burns?

Puddin shudders as she stares off into the gloom and doom of the forest.  Oh yes, let's burn it all.  Whatever lives in there will not be hospitable or helpful to our efforts.  

Once everyone is ready for something angry to attack them for burning its web, and with their general consent, Føpé  will light his candle and hold it to the web, cautioning the party to be alert that burning web does not fall on them in case the whole thing lights up.  If it burns modestly under the candle, like nylon rope might, Føpé  will attempt to burn a door size path through the web.

Føpé  will also remain alert for the spider who may feel it's web burning from some hidden place.

Perception: 23

If Fope meets with success, Barnaby, smiling with wonder will start ‘helping’ by launching successive fire bolts. 

As soon as you set the fire to the web, you hear hissing in the trees around you. Peering more closely, you see three giant spiders, revealing themselves in the upper branches! And when I say "giant," I mean huge!

Everybody roll initiative. It's time to fight!

edit: And I made a map. I also tried to put people where I think they might be as Fope sets the candle to the web. Move yourselves around a bit if you want.

With the spider's in sight and the battle coming, a grin fills Føpé's face as he feels his fingers begin to itch for the combat and the thought of immersing himself in the dream of killing his brother, with real violence and blood, brings hope and happiness to his heart.
