Nobody told you to eat that last bug-infested dinner roll, sport. But what I need from you is an attack, with damage, to see if you destroy the cabinet door. Give me a to hit roll and damage, and there's no disadvantage on attack rolls.
Good enough. The fastening mechanism is destroyed, and you open the cabinet. It holds a heavy crossbow, a light crossbow, a hand crossbow, and 20 bolts for each weapon. The weapons appear well-made, but there is no reason to think any are more than they appear.
Heavy crossbows, for those wondering, are quite cool. They do 1d10 damage, which is great, and their range is 100/400. Which is also great. But it takes a whole round to reload them, so you have to shoot every other round, if you want to keep firing.
Blue: If it later turns out that nobody lives here anymore, and if we don’t have to leave the house in a screaming panic, then Barnaby will make sure to return for the two crossbows for resale value.
It appears as if we've explored all of this floor and no obvious path down to any basement. Perhaps we need to go up to go down, shall we make our way up the stairs?
It's getting late. Perhaps we should make camp here for the night. The windows will give us a view of the road and approaching danger. With any luck, Kiff will feel better by morning.
It looks like I cross posted with Kiff. In response Føpé suggests, I'm not sure that makes sense. What if we look around outside first.
It's very late afternoon/ early evening. If you guys want to rest, go ahead, and I'll give you a predawn start the following day. Unless you say otherwise, I'll assume you're resting in this room. Give me perception checks for those taking watches, please.
Oh, disadvantage because poison bullshit 8

You just had to try harder! :)
Barnaby will take the light crossbow and hand it to Kif to replace the one that he lent to Ireena
Part of the payment that I’m sure they’d be happy to make for killing their monster.
I think it was Puddin’s, though I’m not going back to check.

In case anyone was curious.

Oops. Poisoned does impose disadvantage on attacks. Sorry!
Yep, crossbow was Puddin's, I have throwing axes
Bold: Yes, I think I will take my junker of a crossbow back, thank you.
Ireena accepts the light crossbow from the cabinet, and grabs the bolts for it.
You haven't found anything else in the room. Time to move on, or do something else?

Oh, right. Fope does not find anything on the floor.

Not the most ideal of situations, but perhaps it wouldn't be terrible to try and rest.
