Glim looks at Klong. "Ah, yes, of course... the rivers flow north. Perhaps you'd like to share for the less intelligent members of our group how you deduced that, my large friend?"
He pulls out something from a small cloth bag, which looks like a millipede coated in some sort of crystalized sugar, and pops it into his mouth. The loud crunch sound that ensues as he chews would threaten to drown out anyone else's response; fortunately the goliath bard has quite the ability to project his voice.
"Klong like to make paper boat for fun. Klong throw them over bridge at Yartar and watch go. Paper boat go north. If paper boat go north, real boat go north too,"explains Klong proudly, happy at being called (or at least implied to be) intelligent.
Pensively, Klong puts his hand on his chin and lays out his reasoning. "If river upstream, barge no can go. Mean we need sail or row power. But sail no good on narrow water, and wind not reliable. This mean row. Who can row? Who can crew? Horse maybe day and a half of travel on road. Walk through mountains okay for Klong, but hard for others. Very slow. Horse most reliable for sure."
She takes the bag smoothly. She weighs it in her hands, counts out 100 gold, then casually plops the rest of the bag in the middle of the table. She's not taking anyone else's money, but if Gargosh is light, she wants to make sure she gets hers.
From his recuperation position, Kelvin raises a hand, "Can I suggest something? How about we *don't* take the river?" He motions with his hand to emphasize his point, despite being face-down in the table, "Elementals came move through, well, their element, right? Want to know a terrifying thought?" His hand gropes across the table until it finds something not filled with food or drink, then dances it across the table, "Here we are in our happy little boat, until WHAM," he throws the object onto the floor, "We get up-ended by a gang of elementals, pitched into their world, and drowned."

"Yeees, yes, you always seem to show up just in the nick of time. Seems to me a diviner really worth his salt would anticipate these situations before they happen so we could avoid them. Then I wouldn't have needed saving in the first place! You're lucky I have a strong heart," Glim says, proceeding to grumble something mostly audible, except for the words "hare-brained schemes".
Kelvin graces Glim with the presence of both his hands to assist in speaking now, "Mortie always said, 'The threads of Fate are every spinning, ever weaving, ever changing!' I miss that old cook."

Fil continues to eat his food before shrugging his shoulders. "We are going to face danger no matter how we go about finding this axe." He quickly finishes his food and goes back outside. As he stands outdoors, he keeps an eye out for any friendly animals.

I have an intelligence of six, I know what I'm doing.
As the others banter back and forth, Klong finishes with his pot of jam and bread. He gives a large tip to Dale's daughter. "Before go on horses, we get supply? Need food and other things?"
OOC: What manner of supplies and shops are available in this town?
"What do you say we leave him behind?" Glim says in a stage whisper to the others, gesturing at Kelvin. "If he's worth bringing along, I'm sure he can find us."

OOC: What manner of supplies and shops are available in this town?
It's a medium sized town, meant mainly as a stopping point for trade-routes. Basic supplies, sundries, and gear are easily obtainable.
There are always wagons of various merchants coming and going. For anything out of the ordinary, let me know what it is and i'll roll to see if a merchant has it
Kelvin picks his head up with a weary smile, "Glim, you should know we do very well at getting away and staying away. What if this one's a keeper? You really want to gamble that he might find us?"

Looking confused, Gargosh gestures forward "Alright, lets go then! We've got some ground to make up. You can hit the merchant wagons on the way out if you need supplies" and leads the group towards a group of horses waiting for them
"You're sweet when you're hung over," and she tousles Kelvin's hair as she gets up from the table.
"I got a couple things to buy! I'll meet you guys at the wagons!" She hurries out, hauling her bag along. She'll grab a horse and leap astride, riding it to the merchant wagons, where she buys her stuff.
