I would like to make sure this place is fully explored. We could try and convince them to go straight, and work for the town......
Bored I look to Hymir. 15 I attempt to steal his mechanical spider so I can learn about it. I have no intention of keeping it, however he has no way of knowing this.
alright well lets finish this organization off but first we need to tie up some loose ends here.
i want to gather all the unsellable weapons and all the cloaks and resources throw it into the lab pour a flask on it and burn it all but hopefully not burn the whole place down
It will take a while to gather all the cloaks and things not worth selling, but in the process, you verify there is no living thing left in this place. You now have a heap of dirty cloaks, rust swords and such in the alchemical workshop area.
Fjolnir rubs his temples. "Aye, if the mansion is ruined, i'm inclined to leave it be. We still have a contract to close and that druid might be the best path to get to Cragmaw. We could finish our affairs here, oil our blades in the bellies of some redbrands or not, and head out northwest. Either the druid at Thundertree can tell us, or maybe we catch some orc on the road and have a friendly conversation about taking us back to his keep for drinks."
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
You are way to tense, high strung even. Let me help you. 18 I break out the lute and sing Hymir a lullaby to relax all that stress away, casting sleep. Goodnight, go to sleep. Let the long night overcome you.....zzzzzzzzz
mother ****er I'm calm but me and Dirk need to have a talk
I wake him up
I know you are carefree and we have had our disagreements but do not grab any of my possessions without asking if I cant trust you on even a basic level then we cant adventure together
That being said I'm sorry for attacking you but taking something out of my pack even to take a look is not okay with me
I yawn and stretch as I get up. Groggy, You my friend have some serious anger issues. Sternly, You've made it very clear you have no sense of humor. It would be... in our mutual interests to avoid each other whenever possible. I look around. This bores me leaving with or without the others, I head to the tavern.
Az Emberi points at the door and it erupts in a bonfire. He yells "Sit down Dirk. You too Hymir. Everyone take a sit next to the fire." Another flash and the fire in the door disappears and the center table is engulfed in new flames. "We are now bound together in this conflict with the Spider. We must trust each other, sometimes with our lifes. So.. If I am going to trust you with my life perhaps it's time I trust you with my story. I hope it will inspire you two to trust me with yours." He fills up a tankard of ale and grabs a chair to pull up next to the fire he created. (assuming everyone sits down with ales of their own.) "I was not born human. I know this doesn't surprise you by now. But I was not born humanoid either. I was born a wolf. Five years ago I was in the woods. I saw a man. Long robe with stars on it, matching hat. I think to attack but he offers me food. I eat and leave him in piece. He is attacked by other animals. I protected him. After all, he gave food. I chase the others away. He says something I don't understand and starts chanting. I look him in the eyes. One eye matches his robe with star where the pupil should be. Things change. I don't like it. Smells grew fainter. Sounds became muted. I felt cold. my thoughts changed. Became more complex. I felt rage. This man betrayed me. I bit at him but my mouth misses. I try to claw but my claws are gone. My new hand, (he takes a moment to look at his hand wiggling the fingers), hits him with little effect we fight for a little while but he easily gets away from me. He smiled at me. "You're a good boy. You'll get used to it." I understood him. then in a flash he's gone. He is not there the only think he left behind is his false eye. He must have lost it in the struggle. I am left cold confused and angry. I try to find my pack. They don't recognize me. I'm attacked by the alpha. I don't know how to fight with this human body. He knocks me to ground. Teeth. Snarling. Claws. Ripping I grab a stick (holds up finely crafted shillelagh) and felt a surge of power. The stick defends me. My strike lands true. My former friend loses a tooth (Shows the blood soaked tooth on a chain around his neck.). They run from me. And again I am left alone. I wandered the woods I don't know for how long. Time was a new concept to me. I couldn't hunt I couldn't find shelter. I was surely going to die. I was found by a man. He was also wearing long robes but they were darker in color and not as flashy. He had a long staff. He took care of me. I was with him for a long time. I learned to communicate and told him of my story. How I hated what I've become. He tells me of his god. Balinor. The mighty protector of the forest. God of the Hunt and of Nature. This god is too a human. Perhaps now that I am a man too I could also protect the natural world. He taught me the ways a man could connect with nature, the Druidic way. It's not what I was used to but it has its advantages. I found that I had great power in the natual world. I may not be what I was. I may have lost my old connection to the forest. But perhaps I can follow Balinor's example and form a new connection to the natural world. Until I find that ******* wizard and have him reverse this spell. Now that you know my story. Perhaps you can tell me Hymir why is that spider so important to you and how does it haunt you? And you Dirk how is it you on a first name basis with a bandit?"
Aheh. I used to run with an eclectic collection of folk known as the Vagrant Legion. Jimmy is just some runt who signed on not long before I left, I barely knew the kid. For the record. we are all bandits, everyone of us here. Just because we are preying on the predators, that doesn't make us any less the same. And let's get one thing straight. Gundren didn't have me come along because he thought I was noble. I'm an entertainer and reveler. Hands down I can assure you that Gundren knows me well enough to know that I wouldn't stick my neck out for him or anyone else. I don't need you guys, or the adventure anymore than you need me. Tavern, now, ale, leaving.
thank you for your words Az Emberi, it means a lot that you would confide in us but i guess things are a little fresh and i'd love to get into it at a later time but this spider is an impossible puzzle that i for the first time ever had a break through in. so maybe i'm a little sensitive when it comes to it but some lines you don't cross and taking things from my pack without even asking in a secretive manor (assuming it was secretive because i had just put it away) is something i couldn't handle, at least not so soon after meeting a.... free spirit such as Dirk.
Fjolnir chews sloppily on a piece of hardtack ration from his bag. "Thats... a hell of a story there shaggy. I've... seen some shit for sure... but ah... that's a new one on me." He stares for a moment through the walls before resuming. "We don't really have any reason to trust one another, but we don't have to." ...another bite dusting himself with crumbs, "mmwe werf fhired *gulp to do a job, that we haven't been able to finish yet, or collect on. That's binding enough as it were. Do the work. It ain't always noble- sometimes its swabbing a tavern floor, scrubbin bits ah chewed food, stew, blood and shit, but you do it. We can quit after, but till then we scrub this till it shines." He walks over to one of the casks and takes a final swig- "...eh.. but... after that, well, who knows. I'm not likely to stick around and help them mine- I left that as soon as I could, and im not in a hurry to get back to the smell of rock dust and farts all day. Maybe you could use a hand finding that wizard and squaring the deal, Az. Maybe we..." Fjolnir looks as Dirk is walking out. "...or we can... yea, let's at least get out of this shit-hole first, then regroup."
(pending any business left in the cellar) You all exit the place.
What are you doing to bide your time until night? Anything your characters want to accomplish? I figure we'll end this chapter with some talk at the bar and leveling up.

I look for the mayor. When I find him I tell him The redbands are finished. Try to measure his response to this. He's hiding something, I try to deceive him into telling me something. They talked, I know everything. 5 deception Separately I want to know if he knows anything about that howl from the night before. Any weird occurances around town lately.
I use my 7 portent which is my last roll to transcribe the scroll to my spell book I need to roll an 11 arcana and I have a plus 5 so that's 12 it takes 2 hours and 50g and I would like to track down another spellbook to start making a backup

Dirk, the spider does nothing.
What are you doing?

I think you dropped this. I hand the mechanical spider to Hymir.

Hymir's Fireball slaps Dirk right in the chest, barely burning him, but hurting a little just the same.
Instead of getting mad, however, he gets even. He casts Sleep... and puts himself to sleep before finishing his song.

Chronomancy!!!
Absinthe begins to brew his first batch of ale out of the barrel on his cart.
I set about finding a secluded spot outsude to make up some health potions. If I dont have time to complete at least 1 I go to the tavern
