A'ro just blinks as the bard begins to toss words at the skeleton "It's literally harmless to us right now - why would we risk setting it free and having it injure one of us even more, causing someone to possibly die when we run into more spiders?"

'Kay dusts herself off after returning to ground level. She hefts the crossbow and checks it the way the quartermaster showed her to see if it's still serviceable.' "A'ro likely has the right of it. Let's try to be stealthy as we head down the Western tunnel, and try to avoid getting eaten by spiders, but I'll be damned if we leave this place without what we came to retrieve. We've come this far already."

Orlys looks around, confused, lowering his maul. "Are we not, then? Does it not seem odd, an animated skeleton 'ere? Midst spiders? Wearing fine leathers? What if it were the horse rider what satchel ye be plundering? What if it be ensorcelled?" He peers at the skeleton up close, looking for anything intriguing about it.

'As his rescuers turn to leave the struggling skelaton trapped within the webs, Orlys casts a critical eye over the undead creature, but notices little else apart from the unfamiliar emblem, its strangely colourful attire and the rattle of its loose ribs as the mindless thing futilelt attempts to free itself. The bone weary bugbear does notice a single miniscule fey spider crawl across the bound skull, crawling into one eye socket and out the other.'

'Carefully making your way around the icy terrain in the eery purple crystal-cast light, you are forced to take your time descending the rough decline of the Western tunnel, but do so without incident, emerging into a long narrow dark stone cavern that stretches away further Westwards. A twenty foot wide wall of matt grey webbing blocks further travel forward and the gradual declining angle of the stone floor continues, though you all notice that it is somewhat warmer in this naturally formed cavern than it was in spiderfey's lair. The cavern is bare except for a little stone rubble, a few old bones and a single large brown, orange speckled mushroom that grows near the webbing.'

'Kay offers the battle axes to whoever wants them, pulling the sea shell amulet around her neck. I hope this does me more good than it did her... She grips the crossbow tightly having loaded it with one of the blacksteel bolts.' "I'm going to sneak ahead to see what can be seen... Don't tarry too far with the light."
'She approaches the webbing carefully, keenly aware that spiders could be watching from anywhere.'
Orlys will shrug and accompany the party westward. At the new, gray webbing, he will unlimber his maul and follow Kay about 20 feet behind, as sneakily as he can, given his exhausted state.

Vaken, still shaken from earlier events, sees everyone trying to sneak and sort of groans to himself. Sneaking was not something he did easily, but he'd try.

'Sneaking ahead of her admirably quiet companions, Kay descends the rough and rocky slope into the long, almost rectangular cavern. Easily navigating the scattering of loose stones and old bones, and taking note of the large brown mushroom similar to those that she had gathered atop the pillar, Kay edges up warily to the wall-to-wall bank of matt grey webbing similar to that which the group had first encountered, identical to that which had enshrouded their new bugbear companion.
Stepping right up to the webs with baited breath, the sharp eyed Kay catches sight of a large multi legged form deep within and is about to retreat with a shouted warning when the ichor coated rogue notices the fey spider's total immobility. Steadying her nerves, Kay peers in with face all but pressed into the webs, noticing that a couple of the creature's legs appear detached from the body. As her light bearing companions close the distance behind her, the brown haired waif catches the brief reflected flash of something metalic from near the arachnid's stationary corpse.'

'Kay checks the straps of the crossbow to make sure they are sound before slinging it over her shoulder across her chest. She then draws a shortsword and very carefully attempts to cut through the webbing, a hole large enough to allow her and her companions passage through without further disturbing it.'
Orlys pads up behind Kay as she begins cutting the web. If she has trouble (for some reason), he'll step in to sweep it aside with his maul, otherwise he'll just follow her lead. After all, she's a stone cold killer.

'Carving a swathe through the first few feet of the tangled barrier does not prove overly difficult, especially with the aid of the burly bugbear and his maul, though clearing the way forward does create a consiberable amount of noise as shards of broken webbing fall away... falling further than they should, Kay's tired senses belatedly realise. Her left foot raised to step foward into the breach nearer to the suspended dead fey spider, the skinny trail breaker glances down just in time to see that the cavern floor drops away sharply into an indistinguishably deep chasm, which appears to run the entire width of the chamber, though it is currently impossible to tell how far back the void stretches due to the thick mass of strands that hangs above it.
The still web-encased dead fey spider hangs above the yawning gulf, its front almost clear of webbing but still lying about five feet beyond Kay's reach. The source of the metallic glint is now visible - a silvered rapier's pommel shaped like a yawning cat's face, protruding from near where the arachnid's pin holed thorax meets its somewhat deflated abdomen.'

'Stretching forward out over the void with his almost simian reach while the relieved sail monkey and his other current companions hold the back of his leather belt, Orlys manages to tug the thin blade free of the dead arachnid's corpse, though the effort to do so seems to dislodge the webs remaining hold upon its former tenant, sending the dead weight of the slain fey spider toppling from view into the chasm below.
Pulling back from the edge, the exhausted bugbear sees that he is holding a slim, short but sharply pointed silvered blade, the rapiers finely worked guard chased in gold, a grip of tightly wound smooth white leather, the feline pommel of gleaming silver.'
[OOC] Orlys and anyone who handles or examines the rapier can make an investigation check and read the spoiler on a score of 15 or more:
'The masterful craftsmanship of the delicate, yet surprisingly strong, weapon is readily apparent upon examination or handling it. However, only upon closer examination do you notice the lightly etched initials T.S.E etched within the pommel cats mouth.'

'The drop into the yawning darkness below is completely vertical and even using Kestrell's lantern fails to reveal the extent of its depth, though Kay notices that the iron implement's illumination appears undiminished in this chamber. The lantern's glow barely reflects from the matt grey webs, but its light is sufficient for Kay to discern thst the webs stretch at least another ten or fifteen feet Westward above the empty gulf, possibly more.'
