“Might as well make it official, then. I’ll go let the guards know what’s going on,” Briga says. “Maybe they’ll back us up on going in now. Griff, you’ve got more pull with the city, with your Force Gray ties. Want to come help me convince them this is worth maybe inconveniencing some rick folks?”
(I assume at this point Briga came back with Tryus... Not sure at which point, so response is gonna be a bit off.)
Mairi furrows brows at the trio, and then did a double take Grif. "Force Grey...?" She muttered, giving Grif a skeptical look, only shake her head and dismiss all further concern. "I hope whatever pull your friend here has is enough then. Because those watchmen were pretty clear and direct on us not getting involved in the matter. Not to mention, they're going to want to know why and how we came across our information."The half-elf said while gesturing towards the device near the end.
"And subsequently, confiscate it for their own ends, which would be best case scenario."She adds. "I don't believe I need to speak of the worst, so... considering the odds, I'm gonna make myself scarce for a bit if that's the go to. Though in doing a bit of B&E, I believe the term was, we can wait another hour at least. Even if they were to try destroying any evidence, it'd take them time. And considering they're nobles, they might not try all that hard if they believe they've gotten away with things anyhow."
[OOC: For the record, Tyrus is back at the tavern helping the halfling staff prepare the place to re-open later in the afternoon to try to catch workers on their way home. While doing so, he is keeping an eye out for suspicious activity.]

”Mairi makes a point, the guards did try to get us to back off, and if we lose this we lose our only lead, should they decide to confiscate it,” Briga says. “So back to the original plan, then, sneak in by nightfall, and case the place in the meantime?”
OOC: I am guessing we are maintaining our surveillance on the building until nightfall and then making an entrance? Unless someone else weighed in on contacting the guards.
If the stake out goes in for more than a half hour, after having time to reflect Briga will go to the nearest guard station, explain what they have discovered so far, leaving the apparatus with her allies, then she will return, muttering about “stupid better judgment.”
When you go to the city watch, there is a guard point just around the corner and he nods "We will investigate, if you think it has something to do - you can leave it to us as we will investigate," he says before walking to a second guard with him who goes to get more men.
Briga awkwardly attempts to sound formal, saying, “As, like, a woman knighted, I am entitled to accompany you on this skirmish, as are my, uh, squires and pages. We’re all in this, the whole of the Abandoned Dragons. I’ll lead you guards there.”
She leads the guards there once they are assembled.
"You can lead us to the gate, but because of the fact that you are accusing someone who is an important person of the city, I'm afraid I cannot allow your people to enter, you can leave it in the hands of the watch," the guard responds, "I will bring my own men, and we will update you with what we find," the guard tells Briga. "The Gralhunds are rich enough to afford a contingent of the city watch themselves, so we shall handle this ourselves," he tells you.
“What you said totally implies you guys will need our help. So, like, as a knight I will ignore what you said about staying out of it and proceed with my duty to aid the true and just, which in this case is you brave soldier guys,” Briga says, her attempts to sound formal and knightly slipping. “Don’t waste time arguing, just get your people and let’s go. I’m sure you’re as mad as we are about what happened here in Waterdeep earlier. Let’s all focus on that common cause.”
“Just hurry up and get going. I’ve got bounty hunter papers here, my writ of knighthood, plenty of credentials to throw at you guys, but this isn’t the time for that kind of pissing contest. Focus on getting whoever is responsible for that explosion earlier,” Briga says curtly. “Come on now, I’ll show you the way.”
Griff steps forward next to Briga. "I am Griffdar Goodwar, also a knight." he looks them up and down and puffs out his large dragonborn chest and showing his long dragon teeth, "I do believe you will need our help and I don't suggest you turn it down or waste any further time. Do what is right."

"I have no issues going in once there is less chance we will be caught in the process." Saralyssa says with a shrug.

(@Phill: Okay, my bad. It was just so sudden a transition, and I likely misread a few things. Correcting my earlier post a bit.)

Yep, seems we are keeping a watch on the building, with the plans of going in after nightfall.

I’m sure you’re as mad as we are about what happened here in Waterdeep earlier. Let’s all focus on that common cause.”
"If you insist on this, I will have you locked up in the castle, now let the watch do our jobs!" The guard says angrily in response.

Saralyssa is not pressing the guards. She steps away, willing to let the guards take care of this.
