Nate looks over and thankfully sees Ophirinn and Brom close by with their fierce weapons drawn. He then watches Omnia's arrows fly by...
"Aaaarrrgghhhh" Nate then yells out in pain as the Goblin's sword slices his leg wide open. He was sure he had the jump on the dodge but it just didn't happen for him. He then immediately in anger sends his fist at the Goblin's head and at the last second opens it as wide as he can casting Poison Spray directly at the Goblin's face.
The poisonous blast hits the goblin's face and it collapses to the ground, dropping its weapon, smearing the poison over its face as it tries to clean itself. It thrashes for a moment, and is then still. Goblin 2 is dead.
Ophirinn and Idalie are up. You cannot see any enemies, but you know that there's something in the thicket near Nate, so you can move and, if you have enough movement, still attack.
Ophirinn, the goblin is armed with a shield, that it manages to bring up in time to deflect your mace. It grunts, but holds its ground, and the healing power reaches Nate.
Idalie is up. You can't see the goblin yet, but you can see that Ophirinn has engaged it and is within 25 feet of you, behind the thicket. You have enough movement to reach the goblin and attack with a melee weapon, or to move just until you see it and then fire a ranged weapon, it's up to you. Or, of course, you could do something else. :)
Idalie rounds the thicket, sees the one remaining goblin, and launches an arrow at it.
Attack: 20 Damage: 7
It's a vicious strike, but this is a hardier goblin that its friend. It stays up, and swings its scimitar at the nearest target Ophirinn:
Attack: 9 Damage: 5
But it's hurting badly from the arrow, and its movements aren't as fluid as they might have been; Ophirinn is able to anticipate and bring his shield up to deflect the blow.
The crunch sound is loud as the last goblin's skull collapses; it's a mercifully swift death, and the body falls to the ground.
Combat is over. You all stand near a thicket of bushes, perhaps fifteen feet from the dark mouth of the cave. The small stream that exits the cave meanders south and away through the hills. On the ground lie the corpses of the two goblins you have killed; you also see scattered a set of playing cards the goblins were using. Though the battle was not quiet, there's no sign from the cave that anyone has noticed you are there.
It's been only a minute since you reached the cave; it's still late afternoon.
"Doesn't seem like anyone is coming, let's take this time to recuperate " Brom suggested as he searched the goblin he killed before taking the body into the tall grass to hide it.
Nate looks on as his comrades swiftly take care of the last goblin. He sends a sinister grin at Brom as he wipes the blood and what he thinks is a piece of the goblins skull off his leather armor. He then turns his attention to the Dragonborn.
"Ophirinn... thank you. Your magic is powerful and I can't wait to see more" Nate says as he feels the powerful healing energy flow through his body.
"I agree with Brom. I think we should take a rest here. I think we will need to be at our best before we go into that cave... who knows what will be waiting for us. Let's memorize our spells and get some shut eye. We can rotate the watch overnight since we are so close to the cave entrance. I'll go check around and see if I can find anything for us to eat other than these nasty rations."
Nate for a second wonders to himself where he got the confidence to actually speak to people in this way. He snaps out of it and then happily starts to look around for any edible berries, grasses, bark or if he is lucky enough a rabbit or two.
While Nate handled the food Brom went about looking for a secluded spot to camp for the night away from the mouth of the cave but close enough so they can keep an eye out these goblins has to report to someone so it won't take long for the rest to notice they're gone and will either ignore it, investigate it and possibly discover what befallen their companions. If that happens they could decide to move locations or prepare for an assault within the cave. Brom rather the former than the later because if they do prepare defenses his group could walk into a trap. Now it's gnawing at his mind, he would share his thoughts once the camp is set.
Nate, you take over an hour but manage to find berries and small animals equivalent to 5 rations. You can cook these at the campfire tonight, as they will not last long.
Brom finds a good location, about half a mile from the cave mouth secluded in a small wooded area. You set up camp, and Nate begins to cook. You manage to hide the fire's smoke - you think.
If you are taking a long rest, then you need four people to keep watch in turn. Please claim a spot, and give me a Perception check. As it's a bright moonlit night, those without darkvision can roll normally, but they will often have to roll at disadvantage in dark places.
First watch: Second watch: Third watch: Fourth watch:
(If you change your mind and decide not to rest, just let me know. Also, remember that you get the benefits of the long rest (e.g. spell slots recovered, HP recovered) when you complete a long rest, not when you start it. If there's a battle in the middle of the night, you'll still be in your current unrested and unhealed state.)
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
"I'm still in good shape I'll take first watch" Brom offered "Also those two goblins we took out are bounded to be missed. Same with the ambush party, they could anticipate our attack and prepare accordingly"

Nate is happy with his findings and begins to prepare the food. Once it's done cooking he will hand out 4 of the rations of cooked food and berries to the party and also consume his portion to use up all of the 5 that he found/cooked.
"Brom, Ophirinn, I think this is a great spot. Here, have some food." says Nate as he listens more to Brom's concerns about the Goblins next move once they realize their friends do not return.
As Brom takes the first watch, Nate offers to take the second watch. :)
Both periods pass without incident. Brom notices a really interesting beetle that's slowly moving through the grass, and he observes how it first tries to go over his boot, and then around. Brom observes its path and then ends up following it a good dozen feet before it disappears down a hole in the ground.
Nate, you notice a brief meteor shower off to the east, though nothing alarming. You wonder if it might be a sign of some kind, though you've no idea what it might be a sign of.
Ok so last part of movement then (Sorry guys) Omnia will movecloser to the thicket for cover

Brom, you find 23 copper pieces and 16 silver pieces on the two goblins, but nothing else of any interest.
