Encouraged and having survived one arrow already Mandaway went to the door and leaned out, and then shouted as loud as he could, " Right, we'd like to invite you little angry buggers round to share a couple of beers. Not shooting arrows would be greatly appreciated."
"Okay it seems like we're going to have to go talk to them, or deal with them over there," Bert says with a big sigh. He looks out again over the town square. "I was here years ago, and the whole reason this town is called Nightstone was a big dark rock in the middle of the square. Right now, there's a giant hole there. So either they consumed it somehow, or it's been taken."
When Bert was skulking around earlier, did he see evidence that the hole's been there a long time, or were there signs that the stone had recently been excavated, like with lots of debris and fresh dirt around the hole?
(OOC: I know Bert's asked this a few times in-game with no response, but what exactly does he remember about hearing about a reward related to the goblins? You said it was rumors in the recruitment thread - were the rumors about someone offering a reward to take out the goblins? Bert's not interested in moral crusades -- if they're not bothering anyone he's fine to let them be. But he wouldn't feel bad about just taking the goblins out because they're annoying and have friends who attacked them. And if there's a reward for ridding the town of goblins, he's definitely got an incentive to do that, more for the adventure than for the need for money. He's just trying to figure out what happened here and what the goblins did, if anything.)
"Since none of my ideas are working, I'm going to sneak over to the front door of the inn and check to see if there's anyone else inside," Bert says to the group.
SInce both of his illusory-based plans failed to provike any kind of response from the goblins, Zook agrees with notion of just heading outside and taking personal control of the situation.
“We can’t just sit in here forever. I say we get on with whatever we were getting on about... which, to be honest, I’m not entirely sure what that was. At any rate, action is better than inaction, so I say let us go and get on with our day. If the big greenies want another fight, then we’ll give it to them. If they just want to scavenge and mind their own matters, then we can leave them be and check out the rest of this village.”
Grabbing his walking staff, Zook follow Bert and Hawk outside as the quietly make their way over to the inn.
Bert stealth 14 and perception 9 as he exits with the others. He's still a bit perturbed the ambush idea failed so completely, but he's glad to be moving and exploring more. He's keeping to the shadows as best he can, trying to stay unseen, and has got his bow out and an arrow loosely nocked, ready to shoot at anything that seems threatening.
Bert: First of all, the hole looks as recent as the rocks. Secondly, the reward was a rumour however the person rumoured to be giving a reward lives in the keep here.
Sneaking up to the Inn and looking in, the other goblin is lying on the floor with a bolt in its back. The goblin in the rubble has not seen you
Being just a few inches over 3 feet tall, Zook would be unable to look into the window, and so we're assuming that either Hawk or Bert describe what they see inside the inn. Speaking very softly, he whispers,
"Dead? That hardly makes sense, unless one greeny killed the other. Now I'm curious... With the other one still outside, we should go in now, have a look and try and ambush other one when he comes back."
Zook follows Hawk and Bert into the inn, but once inside, he takes a more elusive approach. Rather than boldly announce his presence, he quietly looks around and tries his best to remain quiet and somewhat out of sight.
This room is strewn with wreckage. A giants’ rock punched through the roof and landed here, destroying a dining table and a pair of long benches. The remains of a bed and a wardrobe (from the chamber above) lie among the shattered dining room furnishings. Two smaller round tables and several chairs remain intact, and resting atop each table is an unlit oil lamp.

Mandaway and Bert (Maybe Forge and Krakkan if they look and roll well) see a wisp of blonde hair pulling back from the hole.
(On the map, it is the hole caused by the rock in the South East)
" Hello, I would just like the person hiding in here to know that we are not with the little angry goblin people but are here to help.", He said as he moved closer.
Hawk approaches the dead Goblin, and checks out the bolt, trying to figure out it's origin (where it was shot from), and perhaps evaluate how good of a shot it was (Investigation: 17). As he is doing this, he will keep talking in a kind, calm voice:
My name is Hawk, and this is my friend Mandaway. We're here to help! We heard that Gre...Goblins were terrorizing this small town. We came here to investigate and help the towsfolk. We could use some information on what is going on and what happened here?!
Encouraged and having survived one arrow already Mandaway went to the door and leaned out, and then shouted as loud as he could, " Right, we'd like to invite you little angry buggers round to share a couple of beers. Not shooting arrows would be greatly appreciated."
Performance ( for projection):20
The goblin hears you and looks up, draws their bow and shouts back in broken common, "My treasure! My food! You no come closer"
After joining more my signature got out of hand so I am now a proud member of the extended signature club!! :)
" Don't want it. I've got much, much more treasure and food in here", Mandaway turned and headed inside.
"Well, okay then, we may have to go to them to detain or take them out now -- they don't seem to be taking the bait."
Bert ducks out and checks to see if the goblin's staying put, going for help, or coming toward the temple.
The goblin goes back to searching through the rubble when Manaway leaves.

If there are only a few Greenies, I say we can take ‘em... let’s just move towards the inn and knock ‘em out cold!
Hawk will follow Bert to the Inn’s front door (Stealth: 12 ).
Let’s sneak out the other side of the Temple so to not get seen by the Greenie in the rubble!
