One of the stirges attaches itself to Tibi and starts to suck his blood.
As you nearly finish off the swarm of striges the crucified souls remaining on the trees begin to wail in terror that Harumana, a narzugon, is coming. He swoops down from the sky on his nightmare steed and is about 300 feet away at this time and flying fast!
"Bloody overgrown mosquitos"Tibi mutters as he takes two hand crossbow bolts from his quiver and stabs each stirge (1st attack = Attack: 9 Damage: 8 & 2nd attack = Attack: 8 Damage: 7) before launching into the air clawing for altitude.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Darvin, keeping one eye firmly fixed on the approaching mounted narzugon, tries to help out Tibi by surgically poking the remaining stirges with his rapier.
Seeing Darvin take care of the last two stirges, Kaelani turns his attention to the inbound devil and tries to determine his intent - is he hostile or just riding to check them out? Insight: 24 He readies a Guiding Bolt just in case...
Tibi stabs at the stirge that has attached itself to him but is unable to reach the spot and get it off of himself. Darvin deftly skewers that one and with a flick of his other blade finishes the other. Tibi launches into the air as you can now all concentrate on the new threat.
Clearly the creature is hell bent on attacking you and certainly does not look as weak as the stirges were. It levels a long black lance with flames at you as it speeds forward.
The nightmare dashes forward moving as fast as it can fly and the Narzugon is now 120 feet away
OoC: I didn't declare it then, so no worries if the answer is no, but could Darvin have used his movement to move 30' toward them on his last turn? If so, then on this turn he could move forward another 30', to get within 60', right? If that's fair, then he'll cast command at 2nd level, targeting both rider and mount, and in infernal, tell them to "grovel" (if you would rule that that would make them fall due to the nightmare dropping prone), or "halt" (if you would consider dropping prone "directly harmful")

Kaelani just knew the devil had hostile intent, and decided to make a pre-emptive attack. When the creature was 120' away, a flash of brilliant light streaks toward it! (Casting guiding bolt at 3rd level.) Attack: 28 Radiant Damage: 45 - Kaelani is "Favored By The Gods", who lend their will to the attack. (Add 6 to the attack roll - good enough for the mount but not the rider...Will the DM be merciful? =)
If this hits, the next attack roll made against this target before the end of Kaelani's next turn has advantage, thanks to the mystical dim light glittering on the target.
Kaelani tries to target the devil with a guiding bolt but the brilliant light streaks wide (Sorry, but you targeted the devil not its mount)
Darvin, having moved forward continues to move in the direction the devil approached from closing the gap. He suddenly yells "Halt!" to the devil and its fiendish mount.
DC 16 WIS Saves - Narzugon 13, Nightmare 15
The Narzugon pulls on the reins of the nightmare to slow its progress but the nightmare needs no encouragement and slows itself down. Though it is still flying it stops advancing and flies just enough to keep itself in the air
OoC: This is maybe unneeded clarification, but just to make sure, since "halt" has specific rules text in the spell, it would take effect on their turns, and result in them not taking movement or action that turn, right?
You speak a one-word command to a creature you can see within range. The target must succeed on a Wisdom saving throw or follow the command on its next turn.
...
Halt. The target doesn't move and takes no actions. A flying creature stays aloft, provided that it is able to do so. If it must move to stay aloft, it flies the minimum distance needed to remain in the air.
Tibi watches warily as the devil comes to a screeching halt both rapiers loosely held in his hands and ready to swoop in and respond if the devil makes an aggressive move towards one of the party members

Yes, officially they don't halt till its their turn. I was just keeping the narrative going.
The Narzugon is compelled to follow Darvin's command is now 60 feet from Darvin and Drabash (who dashes forward to stand with Darvin). Kaelani is 90 feet away and Tibi 120 feet.
It slowly settles onto the ground staring you down.
A startled cry comes from behind 20 feet behind you as you see a hellwasp appear from a nearby nest and try to grab Lulu and fly off with her.
Kaelani spins to sees the hellwasp attack on Lulu, and fires off a guiding bolt at the demonic insect! (Guiding Bolt at 1st level) Attack: 22 Radiant Damage: 9) His focus remains on the wasp, knowing it is the closer threat to him...

Swiveling around to deal with the closest threat in the hellwasp, Darvin's eyes glow red for a moment as he looks at the creature (Hexblade's Curse), before extending his wrist toward it and firing off a pair of bolts of eldritch energy at the thing.
Tibi turs and flies towards the Hellwasp as fast as he can his rapier Attack: 17 Damage: 6 and his shortsword Attack: 11 Damage: Unable to parse dice roll. outstretched in front of him (Sneak attack 3} As he flies past he uses his fancy flight to keep going past the creature to a safe distance

Bad luck for the swarm of striges as most are fried by Darvin's fireball. The last two swoop down and attack

Attack: 25 Damage: 8
