Nate watches the others take off, and while he's hurt badly and exhausted from the fighting, he knows we can't let this guy get away and/or get reinforcements. Nate sprints to catch up and will follow behind Jalt.
Like Soar, Nate will also chug a healing potion and then toss the bottle onto the ground, smashing it. 5
You reach the stairs. There are two possible ways Borngray could have gone: down the stairs, or along the passage to one of the other towers. There's no indication which way he went. Which way will you go?
Nub assumed he went downstairs to the portal, so that is where he was double dashing to. He is splitting party slightly (every round double dashing) but will shout out if he comes across danger.
Jalt and Nate, you head along the passage, much like the one that led to Borngray's office. At the end is a heavy wooden door which, when you try it, appears to be locked.
Soar and Nub, you descend, and then retrace your steps back through the sopping wet library. Please both make a Perception check.
Jalt reasons that Borngray is unlikely to have had time to unlock the door, pass through it and lock it behind him, so he turns around and follows Soar and Nub. Will Nate follow?
Soar, seeing nothing in the library, races downstairs, readying a poke or a stab with her sword should a target present itself. If she sees Borngray farther away she will try to use her channel divinity to tangle him up in vines.
Downstairs in the main yard, the lizardfolk are all gone. There isn't any particular sign of a fight - they have just left. And you don't see Borngray. Which way is Soar headed?
((Sorry Steve et. al - I've been unexpectedly busy the last few days but back in action now))
Yes, Nate would definitely be following Jalt back the other way towards Soar. He'd mention though once they all got back together "maybe he went to the portal!"
(if Nate knows that Nub is going to the portal, he'd agree to go there, although I don't think Nate knows where Nub was headed unless he yelled it earlier.)
While Soar investigates the exit, Nub and Nate make a beeline for the stairs leading down to the caves below and the portal. Jalt, not wishing to leave anyone alone, sticks with Soar though he is some way behind her.
Soar, you see the passageway that leads to the gatehouse; you listen from up ahead and hear the sounds of the swamp. You would guess the lizard folk are up there, in the huts around the castle, and you don't hear the signs of alarm that you might expect a fleeing Borngray to cause. It's impossible to be certain, though.
Nub, you make it down the stairs. Make a Survival check with disadvantage as you are dashing. Nate, you are not quite up to Nub, though you see him ahead.

The chase is on.

We can't hear him at all? Perception: 11
Soar will head downstairs if she can't hear him.
No, you can't hear him.
Shall I assume you are sticking together and not splitting up?
Nate will follow Jalt as that's who he is behind and Nate isn't paying attention to anything else.
If Jalt goes the other way, Nate would as well. But otherwise is just following like a lemming.
Jalt would be hesitant to split the party but thinks that may be the only way to track Borngray.
Hoard of the Dragon Queen - Jalt Rhogar - Dragonborn Cleric (9)
"Ive heard it both ways."
If the party splits, Soar says quietly, "shout when you see him."
If not, she'll go a little ways down to the main floor, suspecting he's running to the portal but prepared for him trying to get help somewhere.
Nub assumed he went downstairs to the portal, so that is where he was double dashing to. He is splitting party slightly (every round double dashing) but will shout out if he comes across danger.
Nate is with Jalt, still with horse blinders on, following him through the other passage to whichever tower he thinks is best to find the elf.

Nub's perception: 16
Nub and Soar, it's very hard to say whether Borngray came this way or not; there's nothing you can see in the library to indicate one way or another.
Jalt reasons that Borngray is unlikely to have had time to unlock the door, pass through it and lock it behind him, so he turns around and follows Soar and Nub. Will Nate follow?
(I'm piloting Jalt for a couple of days.)

Will Nub follow Soar? Will Nate follow Jalt?

Soar pauses and listens for any sounds at all.

She then would turn to the exit to see if he's fled out of the castle.
Nub was double dashing from start towards the portal, assuming that was where Borngray was heading (so hopefully is only 1 round of movement behind)
