Zeke grunts as he shiftsArvel in his grasp. 'I'll take first watch in the hallway, and then swap out with whoever takes second watch to sleep off the rest of the night. Meaning no disrespect to your hospitality Mr. Toblen, of course, it's just in my experience the worst things happen when one is unprepared to face them.'
As he turns to head to the rooms to deposit Arvel, Zeke addresses the Innkeeper's wife:
"If you'd be so kind as to keep a cold plate for me, I'll grab it after I get this one settled' he indicates Arvel with a nod of his chin 'and make a quick scan of the perimeter. Happy to pay you the full gold then for the night's accommodation if that's agreable?'
The much shorter Toblen looks up at Zeke and swallows hard. "Um well I'm not sure a watch is necessa....ah, well, yes, of course, Mr...? Ah, is your friend...ok?"
Toblen's wife smiles nervously at Zeke and says "of course, room four has two beds, if that suits you" regarding his food request.
As Zeke departs for the stairs he hear's the young Pip comment to his mother "whoa, I bet he's here to scare away those Redbrands for good!"
Fae had stood back and enjoyed Elra's excitement while sharing their tale. She would approach the inn keeper after the others, "I'll take a room and a plate of what you suggested for later as well, please." And with a dimpled smile, she'd place a gold on the counter. "My name is Fae.I'm going to step out for a bit and return after."
Just after Edgar finishes ruffling the water off his feathers, Fae would toss her hood up, covering him too. Although her legs ached from the long walk, Fae wanted to take a tour around town. There were a couple things she wanted to take a look at before retiring for the night. Fae would nod to the others before leaving the inn.
Toblen and his wife greet Fae warmly, the wife introducing herself as Trilena.
A weary Sildar also pays for a room and says to all of you "I'm going to go clean up and then come down to eat if anyone would like to join me." Seeing the state Sildar is in, Toblen insists of fetching him some new clothes. He dons a cloak and heads out into the rain.
OOC . Where to for Fae? Happy to describe other parts of the town, or play along if she visits any of the places they've already seen.
OOC: Fae would want to stroll by the town center for a quick look, take a closer look at the building with the blue lionshield and take a pit stop at the shrine before taking a 'casual' walk by the house the elf went into.
With her hood up, pretecting her and Edgar from the light rain, Fae would head towards the town center. I wonder how much it's changed...
Fae studies the town center once again, noting that many small streets diverge from there and lead deeper into town. The Lionshield Coster appears to be closed as no light is visible, but light can be seen inside the house by the shrine that Rizen went into. A closer look at the shrine simply reveals various stacks of rocks in different patterns, some scored with elven symbols in honor of Tymora. Now that she's a bit closer, Fae sees a small sign next to the door of the house reading "Guests Welcome" in Elvish.
While in the center, two human men emerge from one of the side streets and head across the square. They are clad in leather clothing, one wearing a red bandana around his neck and the other wearing a deep red shirt. They snicker and look Fae up and down as they pass and continue on their way down the road to the right of the inn. Fae can't quite make out what they say as they continue to laugh as they move away, occasionally looking back in her direction.
Now alone again, Fae continues to study the town a bit. Numerous old, abandoned foundations covered in ivy help tell the tale of the history of Phandalin as a bustling mining town, the discovery of the Forge, the creation of the Phandelver's Pact and the destruction of the town and loss of the mine that followed.
OOC Would Fae like to take any other specific actions? There's probably not a whole lot more to be seen via standing in the center of the town square, although you can make a perception check if you like.

While at the shrine of Tymora, Fae would reach into her pocket for one of the pebbles she used to light her path during this adventure. As if whispering to the stone, she'd speak in elvish"Lady Luck, I hope for good fortune for my friends and I to find our companion safe. I offer this stone that has lit my path thus far." She'd reach down and place it with the other rocks, then lay a coin 'face up' on top of it. "Thank you for the welcome." Fae would nod her head before walking away. "Ou, shiny."
Fae would take note of where the gentlemen came from and where they went, but she would decide not to investigate while alone.
Ethan nods his head at Toblen's run down on availability and cost.
"That would be great, thank you."
Ethan places a gold piece down on the counter.
"If you could bring a plate to my room, that would be much appreciated."
"No ale for me though, if I could have a small pitcher of water and a cup instead?"
Ethan looks down at his gauntlet,
"I have the motivation and, thankfully, inspiration to finish the last of my great design. Well I think I do, we'll have to see."
As Zeke starts to take Arvel up to his room, Ethan comes over and help carry him.
"Is Arvel alright? He seems to have well and truly passed out. Was he drinking or something, on the way here?"
After seeing Zeke and Arvel to their room, Ethan will settle in to his own room, and start to get out his tools and half finished devices.
Removing his designs book, Ethan will start to add the new ideas he worked out on the rest of the trip to Phandalin.
Ethan will settle in to a night of tinkering and infusion, only stopping, once the inn keeper final gets his attention, when dropping off his food and drink.
During the night, soft sounds of Ethan's tinkering can be heard coming from his room, with the very occasional, louder bang or crack, being heard.
Tarja pays the innkeeper her share and thanks him for his hospitality. She usually wouldn’t have stayed in the inn when visiting town, and usually wouldn’t have much coin to spend, so I’d she was less tired this would feel exciting.
“I could also use a warm bed and a warm meal. A room with a window, if I can. It’s good to be here.”
She also inquires about the Rockseeker brothers. “Have Nundro and Tharden been around? Two dwarves, you can’t miss them.” ( If needed, Tarja gives a description as best she can.)

Zeke thanks Ethan for his help as they settle Arvel into a bed in the larger room. Once done, Zeke steps outside and checks the hallway for a place to set up a watch for the night once everyone settles in.
Satisfied that he can keep everyone safe for the night, Zeke makes his way back downstairs and finds their hosts. Pulling two gold pieces from his pouch, Zeke places them on the counter 'Mr Toblen, thank you for your hospitality. My friend isn't feeling well, but I'm hoping you can save a bit of dinner for him in case he wakes. Please accept payment on behalf of both of us for a night's lodging and meals. No harm will befall your hall while I stand.' A solemn nod and the towering Tiefling pulls his hood over his head and steps out of the Inn into the dark. He walks the perimeter of the Inn looking for anything amiss, making careful note of ground-level entry and exit points. Once he's mapped the building and has a sense of how to keep the party safe through the night, Zeke expands his patrol to cover the rest of the town center.
As Fae makes her offering to Tymora she feels a slight tingle down her spine and suddenly feels warm for just a brief second. It is more comforting than alarming.
Trilena is happy to provide Ethan with a pitcher of water and accommodate all other requests. By all accounts the Stonehills seem like a nice family who is eager to please and are generous about small requests without toiling over a copper here or there. Trilena also appreciates Zeke making sure Arvel is paid for, ensuring the tiefling that Arvel will be well fed whenever he is ready.
The innkeeper tells Elra "best not to talk about that, and just avoid trouble." Just then Toblen returns with some plain clothes for Sildar, however, and whispers "Thel?" "They killed him! He dared to stand up to those Redbrands after they harassed his wife and they killed him for it! Before that they'd just strong-arm everyone, but murder? Now the whole Dendrar family is missing, to boot!" Toblen receives a stern look from his wife for speaking of it, Trilena then looking around to see if anyone was listening. "I'm just sayin', someone's gotta do something about them soon."
Regarding Tarja's inquiry, Toblen and his wife speak more freely. "Those Rockseekers? Oh yeah, they were here for a few nights. Nice fellows, and quite busy too, those two. We've been gettin' more and more miners, prospectors and the like, but none so eager as them. Everyone in town noticed them on account of all of the coin they were tossing around. Think they headed out to make their claim a few days ago if I recall correctly. They said to expect a third brother, too. You know 'em?"
Zeke finds a second entrance for patrons at the bottom of the stairs that lead to their rooms, and in his rounds finds a third exit off of the kitchen which he surmises to be private for the Stonehills and any cooks or other workers they might employ. While outside the the rain has all but stopped and Zeke sees and hears signs of a bit of revelry at some sort of establishment down the road to the east of the inn.
Yes, I'd run into them. I was helping them out, they seemed like fine fellows. We were following the third brother, Gundren, bringing some supplies, but the goblins abducted him before he could make it here. Actual goblins, not Redbrands...
She frowns on hearing the news of the Redbrands, following Toblen's lead in keeping her voice down.
It wasn't this bad last time I was here. Those ruffians are going to be the ruin of this place...
Looking around at the varied company at the inn, she says no more about the Redbrands, intending to warn her group about them when they get together in the morning. And who knows, maybe even get them to help restore some peace around here, with Sildar and Zeke's help, once they find Gundren...

Zeke moves off towards the sounds of the revelry towards the east. Sticking to the shadows, Zeke moves towards the source of the noise, instinctively suspicious of rabble-rousers in what seems like an otherwise quiet town.
Lying alone in the room,Arvel'seyes snap open. They are bloodshot and crazed, like he's awoken after a hard night's drinking. He smacks his lips to clear a dry mouth and looks around for a second before grabbing his head in panic.
"nnnnnnnnnnnnnnngaaaaAAAAAAAAAAAH!"
Clutching his head with one hand he uses the other to steady himself as he stumbles towards the door. After several attempts, he manages to open to door and the charlatan begins stumbling down the hall and stairs, mumbling all the while.
Having cleaned himself up after a long ordeal with the goblins and still nursing a now bandaged hand, Sildar had returned to the dining hall for a meal with Tarja, Elra and anyone else who was interested. As Arvel comes down the stairs Sildar looks at him with concern, eventually rising to meet the mumbling charlatan. Looking to others for help, Sildar asks "what in the nine hells is he babbling about?"

I'm not sure. I hope he's okay. It's been a rough day for all of us.
Tarjacomes over to help steady Arvel, trying unsuccessfully to steer him back towards his room. She tries to quickly assess whether anything's physically wrong with him - fever or delirium maybe? (Medicine: 18)
Find Familiar spell components being muttered, it seems like! Tarja wouldn't know that IC though, she doesn't have that spell. She also wouldn't know about Arvel's impending headache from his Lady.
We're gonna have a whole troop of familiars with us, won't we. I should totally find a way to get some animal to accompany us too, even without a mechanical benefit, just for the heck of it.
"It's the material components for a find familiar spell," Elra stands up and approaches Avrel. She takes him gently by the arm. "Avrel are you alright?"
Tarja finds nothing wrong with Arvel from a medical perspective, no fever, no chill, etc.
Toblen comes running over as Elra speaks. "What's wrong? Spell? How can we help? We have sage, if it helps."
OOC Haha, cardamon... I wonder how rare that should be. It would be hard to find in many parts of our own world, during medieval times at least, I'd think.
I can think of a few ways to resolve that need, but will see what you all come up with in character.
I've never thought about it before, but I suppose that is one advantage of 'component pouch' over 'arcane focus', the rare case when a spell component needs to be provided to someone else not attuned to your focus. I don't think anyone has one, however.
