As the creature continues forward and lowers it's open jaw Erro raises his shield and ducks under the snapping jaw. Erro feels the impact of sharp claws against his shield and you all hear the loud scraping noise. Ellis shouts ecouragement to the group and you all feel your bodies lighten slightly and have a spring in your step. Ellis moves and pivots turning to the creature and releases his spell. The tall creature shrugs his head as the spell hits but seems to have no effect on it. The creature roars in frustration at Erro and looks over at Ellis snarling. Elia begins muttering an incantation under her breath and casts Faerie Fire on the creature. The area around the creature and behind it suddenly is filled with sparkling pollen that clings to the creature's skin and illuminates it slightly.

Darion pulls out his wand and begins tracing a shape methodically in the air. The end of his wand glows with arcane energy as a lattice of glowing arcane shape appear in a large cube around the creature. The creature's eyes shift their focus and suddenly the creature's head begins to sway slowly back and forth methodically corresponding to the shapes.

Erro is nearly knocked off of his feet by the impact of the lumbering beast's claws against his shield. He could feel that his new cloak gave him just the agility he needed to avoid the worst of it. Erro rolls into place and looks up to see the dino illuminated and mezmerized by a pattern of brilliant colors. "Huh" he exclaims, flatly. He glances back at his party to see that they have performed the relevant incantations. "Well, this is much better. Darion, does this last for long? Should I take my chance to go for his vitals or shall we scurry away when we have the chance? I should say he shouldn't be able to sneak up on us lit up like a beacon as he is!"
If the team decides to run, Erro will bring up the rear, keeping an eye on the dino with the intention to draw its ire should it be able to track them. If the team decides to fight, Erro will hold his action to make an attack immediately after Rawk strikes, suggesting that her mighty axe may make a better choice for a sure and devastating blow than his rapier. If Rawk has a different action in mind, Erro will make an attack. (Group and Rawk, please decide before opening spoiler box!)
Rawk hears Erro and Darion then turns to the group and chirps, "Let's go!" She'll fly up to a height of 60 ft then move straight north at full speed away from the creature making sure to look back and check on her companions. Knowing she'll distance herself she decides to stop after 30 seconds.
Ellis was disappointed as his spell didn't work but saw that Darion managed to distract it. "Come on!" he told everyone as he would then Dash, following Rawk and the others away from the creature.

“Wait!” Erro quietly shouts, “I don’t think that we can outrun this thing. If it catches our scent he’ll be back on top of us. Let’s slow him down first. Quickly! Someone help (action) tie this thing’s legs up! Darion, maintain the enchantment!
If DM permits, Erro will quickly unpack his rope and attempt to tangle the Dino’s legs up with the ropes and tie several very quick knots.
”There, hopefully that will slow it down,” he’ll say to whoever may have tarried behind to help him (if anyone). “Now, run!!”
Sleight of Hand: 10 Will roll Adv if anyone stays to Help.

((You know that meme that has the guy laying down on his pillow thinking, and the wife says “I bet he’s thinking of other women.” That was me on the pillow, and it would have said “How are we going to get away from this dinosaur?” It hit me and I got up and turned my phone on and posted my stroke of inspiration while quietly shouting, lol))

As Rawk and Ellis sprint away Erro motions for them to stop but his hushed shouting falls only on Elia and Darion's ears. Elia begins waving her staf over the creature and casts Entangle. Vines sprout from the ground and wrap around the incapacitated creature securing it to the ground while Erro deftly ties his rope around the creature's legs. The large creature breathes slowly as its eye remains transfixed on the methodical shifting of the arcane shapes. After a completing their work Darion, Elia and Erro sprint away in pursuit of Ellis and Rawk. At the expiration of 40 seconds you all regroup at the base of a tree where Rawk sits perched high above. You waste no time in resuming your sprint and continue another 20 seconds before you hear a loud roar from around 500 feet behind you as you assume the creature is freed from is bonds.
Erro continues sprinting, making sure to stay at the back of the pack and not leave anyone behind.
Erro breathlessly tries to communicate a fallback plan on the run, "If this thing looks like it is going to catch back up to us," he pants, "perhaps we can get the drop on it this time."
(In game terms, Erro is suggesting everyone taking a Hide action if the dino is clearly going to catch up to the party, that way perhaps some in the party could chance to score a surprise round of combat)
Rawk would continue her flight north but would choose to only slightly outpace the group staying roughly 20 feet ahead of them and would make keep an eye out for the best tree to hide Tahvo in should danger present itself.

Ellis continued running, hearing Erro as he thought about it. "Maybe that could work, but let's just keep running until we can tell that it will catch up." he then said back to him, still taking the Dash action following along with everyone else.
Ellis looks back over his shoulder for a moment and sees nothing but his companions and the dense forest. As he turns to face forward a fern leaf smacks him in the face and he blinks rapidly as tears well up in his eyes from the pain. After a few seconds the pain subsides leaving only watery eyes that struggle to adjust. Darion also looks back to see Erro trailing the group but is able to maintain his course without running into any of the foliage.
Erro slows his breathing and focuses on the magical mark placed on the creature. He connects with his mystical mark and immediately turns in the direction of the beast. You see the brush to the southeast rustling and hear the distant thomp thomp thomp of the creature's heavy foot falls. Erro, you are able to discern that while you are being pursued, the course taken by the creature is quite a bit off. As you turn back to the group, you also hear the loud sounds of your companions as they run through the brush and step on twigs. You would know that despite being on the wrong course initially, the prolonged noise could lead the creature back on target.
