(OOC: That’s fine; you guys are in it to have fun too and I trust there was no “manipulation.” You burned a luck nonetheless so I’m fine to use what is displayed above. I’m glad I know about posting it to the bottom now as I wouldn’t have thought that was the issue!)
Tempest and then Darion emerge silently out of the pit. As best as they can tell, they have not been noticed. Liss’ard can still occasionally be heard yelling about his dice game, “sssssnake eyeeeeesssss!”
Thank you @JustBrad987, and yes good info about editing in dice rolls!
Quick question, Liss'ard is a snake head I think - is there anything obvious we could use to try and stop him yelling out when we attack? Perhaps trying to wrap round his mouth to keep it closed. Might not last, but could give us a bit of time. If so, Darion whispers to Ellis and Daner "Have a look at the chains - one of us could try and use one of them to gag Liss'ard when we attack, if it is of the right length."
Daner follows closely behind Darion. As he emerges he quickly scans the room to see if there is anything he can pick up to use as a weapon. He hugs tightly to the wall as emerges, hoping to avoid drawing any undue attention to themselves. He is also careful to not be seen by anyone in the other pit.s Yes they wanted to help the others out, but too much attention too son would ruin it for everyone.
Perception:23
Stealth: 7
OOC: Not sure if stealth was actually needed, but since everyone else was rolling it I did too :|
Indeed, some of the prisoners in a nearby pit hear a noise and look up, but they see nothing (good job citing that particular caution; that is what I was going to get you with!)
The perception check yields the information that yes, the length of the manacle chains would do nicely for gagging a snake-man, you figure.
Still the coast seems to be clear with three members outside of the pit; the wall growing cramped at this point.
EDIT: Oh! And as for the search for a weapon, Daner doesn’t find anything, but figured the crude, heavy chains that they were bound with could make for a decent weapon, if anything.
Ellis watched as Daner goes to lift the grate, hoping that he is able to do it quietly enough. Finally he saw as Daner had done it and without making a lot of noise either, relieved. Then he saw Tempest make a frozen ladder as he went up first and gave them the thumbs up for them all to go up. He had heard Darion, nodding as the other went up next followed by Daner going up. Now he has to go up, being careful with his ankle as he got up and started slowly climbing up the ladder. Ellis was able to emerge out of the pit, seeing everyone else hugging the wall as he attempts to do so as well, not wanting to be seen or heard by anyone else while trying to ignore any pain from his broken ankle. He hears Darion talk about the chain, nodding but very nervous at the idea and if it would work.
Tempest will watch as Ellis makes his way up and out of the pit. Though elated at being out of the pit Tempesr knew this was just the beginning. The grate would be the easy part compared to what they had to do next. Looking around Tempest sees Daner feeeling out of his element without a weapon. Tempest lays down on his belly and crawls to the pit releasing the frozen sloth pole and unfreezes it so he can stealthily retrieve it out of the pit. He’ll crawl back to the group and look at daner and whisper, “what’s you’re weapon of choice?”
Once Daner responds Tempest will use the wet clothing to quickly make an ice weapon tapering the end/edge to a sharp point and using some leftover clothing to freeze into a handle.
(If allowed, I think an ice trench spike or spear, maybe an axe or hammer is possible idk about a sword. I’m not subzero.)
After that he’ll give the universal sign of shrugging to say what do we do next?
"I am partial to axes. I hope they haven't got rid of my one yet."Daner looks at the manacles on his wrists. "Can someone help me out with these?"
If Tempest is able to make the axe Daner uses that but tucks the manacles into his belt. They may be of use later. If Tempest is unable to make the axe then Daner will keep the manacles in his hand and plans to use them as an improvised morning star.
OOC: I guess either one would be treated as an improvised weapon?
((I will rule that the ice axe thing works, and it can do the whole 1d8 damage. However, after each attack made with it, you will need to make a sleight of hand check to see if you can keep from breaking it, which will probably get harder and harder to do. DC will start at 12 and go up by 1 each time. The manacles will be an improvised weapon.))
OOC: I thought Tempest and I had got everybody's chains off, so Daner should be okay I think!
Darion smiles as everyone gets ready for action, a slightly wild look in his eye. He whispers to the others "I was going to try and take the weaker one out with a more powerful casting of sleep - but on second thoughts i'll try and hold on. If we can capture one - at least reasonably safely - I can then use that power to read his mind if we interrogate them. I could try with a less powerful version of sleep, but that has less chance of success." he glances at Ellis encouragingly "I don't know if that is something you want to try, i'll take your lead on that."
He pauses, making sure everyone else is ready then says "Right, lets pull them in then!!"
Darion's nerves are taut, and he can hear his heart beating fast. Unable to bare holding on any longer he crouches down near to the grate, and starts calling out trying to sound plaintive "When can we eat! I'm so hungry! Please, we did all you asked, for the mercy of the gods please give us some food!" he will repeat this if needed!
Tempest nods at Darion and will cast Produce Flame and hold it cupped in both hands to try to hide the light and prepare to throw it at the nearest enemy once the gate is raised.
(ya thought the manacles were removed now with ice and hairpins)
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
(I couldn't find a reference as I was scanning the thread so I thought it was better not to be caught out)
Daner tests the axe in his hand and nods. This will do for a while. Daner stands ready to leap into action as soon as the creatures come through the door. He listens as Darion calls out to their captors trying to lure them in.
Hopefully we get a surprise attack as they enter the door so rolling now in case it is needed.
You hear Liss’ard and the other stop their chattering, and in an indignant voice Liss’ard replies, “Oh no, what ever sssssshhhall I do? My sssslaves are hungry. Fenthaza didn’t ssssay that I had to FEED you too. Jusssst eat the one with the broken ankle, heeeeheeeeheee...”
You can heat every word; he is close. He goes on to his partner, “... that’sssss what I would do, wouldn’t you?”
The other replies, “Well, yeah. I’m ssssurpissseed they didn’t eat him already!”
Liss’ard gives one final shout, “Pipe down and let me play my game, prisssoner!”
"I guess we are going to have to head out there,"Daner whispers to the others. "Want me to take the lead? I could be a good distraction while you do whatever you need to with your magic."
You hear the two cease their game once more. Perturbed, Liss’ard replies “ONE more time, ssssslave, and I will make you wissssh you had been already sacrificed thisss morning!” he hisses.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
At that, whoever is standing nearest the door can hear the clinking of dice scattering all over the floor in the next room, and you all hear Liss’ard angrily exclaim “That’ssss IT! I’ve been waiting for thissss part all day! Slizzy, lift this gate at once ssssso that I can punish thissss ingrate!”
You hear Slizzy grunt as he pulls down on the heavy metal lever which causes the portcullis to loudly and slowly ratchet upwards. You hear anguished moans from nearby prisoners pits, and the bushes voices of other prisoners telling you to stand down, you idiot!
Liss’ard doesn’t even wait for the portcullis to rise to its full height as he dips under, rushing into the room with nostrils flared and tongue flickering, looking angrily at your prisoner pit. He hesitates as he sees the half open pit, and then...
Surprise round! The group stealth check worked and with your plan you easily get the drop on him. I will roll the baddies’ initiative here, but we won’t start an order until you all go once. Afterwards, to keep posting flexible, your team will all move at once and the bad guy team will all move at once. So that we don’t stall waiting for one person, anyone can move in whatever order, to keep posting flexible.
Oh right, ill re-roll it again here then:
