Shae would tense as two words pass Berrus' lips. Her eyes would waver for a moment as he'd bring forth the truth of hurting herself in the process. She would nod, believing she would understand. She truly didn't dismiss his wisdom he was sharing. " But there are always consequences... like a butterfly effect." The warlock would think to lift her hand and was about to use her prestidigitation spell to produce a small magical butterfly, but if Mushu happened to be in her palms, she'd give him scratches with her thumbs before offering Berrus a turn to interact with the familiar. She'd be thankful for Mushu to have made her think twice about using her magic. "And the last thing I'd want, would be to cause others harm in the process." Which was probably obvious for the medic. Shae would be sure to look back up at the sky, searching for the stars. This was why finding out both sides of the story was also important. Maxine reminded her that she had one more resource to check before explaining herself. Though, even checking for Kam this evening could have it's very own consequences...
Shae's eyes would go wide for a moment at the thought of ever needing to go to the hells. "I would hope it would never come to that." One shadow at a time... There were always the sharks Fang mentioned if the warrior needed to pick a fight or let off some steam before bed. But then Shae would let out a chuckle from her initial shock. She'd then lean against him, resting her head on his shoulder for a moment to appreciate the sentiment behind his words.
The Professor spends some time that evening discussing future plans with Cliff and Bertrund, congratulating them on surviving and keeping him safe. He offers to write letters of recommendation for them once they reach the city should they wish to seek other employment, but hopes they stay on with him and help him get on to the original reason he came to the jungle -- research!
That said, he, writes in his journal and updates his maps that evening, but he writes nothing about the revelations from the captain--focusing instead on the interesting flora and fauna encountered over the last day. He does spend some time looking along the coastline for a reasonable place to anchor a ship, as he is interested in coming back here and exploring the ruined city of the dead once the noncombatants from the airship are safely back in their home port.

Mushu would have picked at the ‘Mushu scraps pocket’. Once Shae said she didn’t have anything for him his ears would have drooped a bit in disappointment only to be replaced with excitement and getting pets. Mushu of course enjoyed the magically display and when asked by Shar about it her mind is filled with ‘pretty’ and ‘lights’ giving Shae the impression he enjoyed the ‘pretty lights’
Mushu stays with Shae for the duration of the conversation between Shae and Berrus. Letting Fang know where she is and that she seems okay. Fully enjoying any attention given to him by Shae and/or Berrus. When not being paid attention to, he would find a spot on the warlocks lap. To easily facilitate receiving more attention and to investigate the treat pocket more closely as he’s certain there must be some there.
Meanwhile...
Fang pays no notice to the rest of the bustle regarding the conversation. Having finished his pouches(think of like sequin covered pillows and that’s what they look like) he gets ready for first watch and tells Mushu to keep an eye on Shae during the night.
Shae would snuggle into Berrus' embrace, taking comfort in his touch and Mushu's company while she awaited the night. The scholar wouldn't intend to move from where she sat once again. Though, this time she would be sure to not to get too distracted, ensuring to check on Kam before letting their sense of safety to lull her to sleep. Shae would however share her attention with them both. Glad Mushu enjoyed the professors pretty lights Shae would give Mushu more scritches. At one point she'd even take Berrus' hand in hers to make him give Mushu some attention too. Should the familiar really desire some snacks, she'd be willing to make a deal with him. If Mushu was able to fetch and recover her dinner for her, she'd share her fish with him.
As you all accept the Captain's apology, you can see a single tear drip down her cheek, relieved by your acceptance and care. Deciding that the matter was over and done with for now, she lets the subject rest, and instead she goes up to Fang to detail the night's watch and prepare for the night, before going down to the shore where the Professor was making notes, along with her folding boat.
"Professor, I want to thank you again. I don't deserve your forgiveness, but I'm still glad for it. Since you're already planning the next leg, I wanted to bring our boat down here, to see whether we'd all fit together with our gear and provisions for the journey. I doubt we'll be able to forage along the way."

Fang, you finish your pouch, before agreeing with the Captain that you'll take the first watch, with her taking the second, Brax taking the third, and Falx taking the last watch of the night.
Then, you spend about half an hour fixated on the big fish in the sea below you. After having asked Glasses about them, he told you that these were sharks, and that they were the ultimate predators of the seas, much like alligators in the swamp. The thought amused you, since the best predators in the swamp were the lizardfolk of Palebank, without a doubt. Still, if you wanted to successfully hunt one of these creatures, you must better understand them.
Focussing on their movements, you can tell that they hunt individually, but gather as a swarm, not because they want to help each other, but because they each want to get their share. For the prey, it would make little difference though. Getting to them, you'd have to go swimming in between the ruins, and fighting under water, you'd need some sort of thrusting weapon, since anything else would slow you down too much.
The Professor had told you that they were attracted by the scent of blood, but they were generally an animal with poor eyesight. Keeping all of these things in mind and adding to them the observations you make as the sun starts to set, you start your first watch, thinking on how you'd get one of the fish come tomorrow.
Please give me a perception roll for your watch
------------------------------ Maxine, you sense that the crew is deeply appreciative of your words of acceptance, and it feels very good to them to hear that you don't regard them any less for the deception. As you start settling in for the evening, Zip approaches you slowly. "Maxine, when we get back to Port... what are you going to do? Your... experiments... will be very difficult to carry out back in Port Nyanzaru, no?"
---------------------------- Shae, sensing yourself to be at peace, you try to reach out to Kam. It doesn't take long for you to feel Kam's warmth and presence, starting to fill your mind and spreading throughout your body.
My champion, what's wrong? I haven't sensed you in a while and youseem full of dark energy, like a heavy thundercloud before the summer storm.
Then, with a hint of a loving smile in his tone, Kam adds.
I'm happy you found someone to give you strength and that let's you see the light, beside me.
----------------------------
Berrus, you sense that Shae enters into a more focused state of relaxation, as her breathing becomes controlled. After a short smile, she seems to snuggle into your embrace more, and you could swear she was blushing slightly.

Shae would close her eyes when she'd feel Kam's presence and his words fill her mind. There was a short sense of relief, some guilt, but welcoming warmth all the same. We all cast shadows, but she was no longer as ready to be consumed by them... Shae was happy and didn't want that light to be threatened. She wasn't willing to tip the balance. Shae would bask in the overwhelming amount of comfort of each individual surrounding her at this moment before she would respond to Kam. And she would do so by unloading the thoughts one by one that have been circling her mind since the dream.
I was greeted by darkness. Shadows so black they could cling to you... I know it matters little now, but did we truly end the hags suffering early? Shae would pause. My 'actions have consequences' andI am being watched... She'd repeat. She told me you were mortal... 'with every ripple you create, he is closer to being mine.'...
Shae was reaching out to her patron. She genuinely desired to understand the truth behind these consequences of the decisions she'll be making going forward.
By manifesting yourself in the cave, you proved that you are flesh and blood... What was the real level of sacrifice you made for us that day? She'd finally ask. He could sense worry and sorrow from her, like the cloud of darkness that hovered over her. Do I siphon your 'lifeforce'? She'd add tentatively, unable to think of a better word.
Eyes still closed in her focused state, Shae would stir slightly, pressing into Berrus' embrace and tugging Mushu closer into her lap. Her breathing still controlled.
"Have not thought about it," begun Maxine but immediately interrupted herself, "not true - I did, just did not allow myself to get carried away too much. The jungle seemed endless, thinking about future was a waste of energy. Well, now that you asked... What I read about the place, looks like the city is full of everything and everyone - "adventurers" of all kind, while locals are no less colourful and of many races as well. Even I might get overlooked there. Not sure, though, I want to hang around for long, if there will be an opportunity to get on board of some ship returning to continent - I think I'll use it."
"Not asking how you going to disappear, obviously."
Zip looked slightly disappointed by Maxine's answer. "Well, if you ever need to find a place to continue your work, I'm sure I could put in a good word or three." With that, he returned, set out his own magical crossbow and went to sleep.

Shae, Kam's presence fills your mind, warm, and welcoming, with a tinge of nostalgia:
My champion, of course your actions have consequences... but that's a good thing. You were instrumental in preventing a bloody feud between grung and lizardfolk, instead uniting the two people against a common foe. You got all of these people through dozens of miles of jungle, all the while keeping them healthy and patched up. If your actions didn't have consequences, then what would the point of your sacrifices have been?
Am I flesh and blood? In a sense, sure. But I don't belong on the material plane. I am a being of the Feywild and of the skies, that's my home. You are my avatar on the material plane, through you, I can do my good. What use is my body to me, if I can't affect things in your world? You give my sacrifices meaning. Your belief in me makes my struggle against the darkness possible. I need you, not the other way around.

More quietly, he says, “Be sure to keep an eye on Faekin...I wouldn’t put it past him to transform the ship to the smaller boat and try to steal off in the night, leaving us stranded.”
Shae appreciated the wisdom repeated to her by Kam on consequences. She understood and agreed with the general understanding of the word. Kam... Why would the Queen be interested in my/our actions? Her use of consequences sounded more dire... Almost threatening... Was she going to have to put everything she grew to care about at risk if she, essentially, spilled her guts out to them? Or was she truly overreacting?
Her head would slightly tilt noticing the change in his sentence. Shae often worried was not hard enough on herself. "Think so?"
