Grenk wasn't overly surprised at this. He had warned that there may be something locked in n here and there was. As the stench hit him he racked his brain trying to recall specifics of these type of undead.

Of course Badger was hardly surprised at the sudden rush of attackers, having foreseen that monsters would be lurking in this shrine. So why was he trembling so? Maybe he wasn't afraid of them, but sensing that they were afraid of him. Holding aloft his small crystal ball, Badger channelled his magic to augment the fear that the undead undoubtedly held toward the small gnome.
Casting Fear at the most concentrated group, presumably the eight attacking from behind the statue, assuming Badger is in a position to do so without affecting his companions.

Grenk recognizes this type of undead instantly. Ghasts. The stench is an.... undead giveaway. He chuckles in his own mind. Then, to battle.
Seeing Silas summoning his Spirit Guardians, the group waits until he finishes, stepping forward, immersing all 8 undead in the torrent of wraithlike warriors that slash into the undead.
"Ghasts," Grenk calls out to the others as they have already started moving with the assumption that the one word was description enough. Then with a motion that has clearly become habit, he draws his bow and two arrows. As he does so his finger run across the arrow head cutting the skin and with a quick motion, he has drawn a symbol upon the bow.
A trickle of blood flows unnaturally from the wound to the bow. As it does so, the bow begins to glow with a soft white light. All the while he has not stopped moving and arrow is nocked, drawn and released and a second followed just as quickly.
Bonus action: activitsting right of the dawn on the long bow. 3 to self. Bow now deals 1d6 additional radiant damage + 1d6 addition to undead for 2d6 extra damage.
Attacks to focus on those engaged in melee with team mates and then closest after that. Believe that Mal is only one in melee right now so attacking any with a clear shot in melee there.
An arrowing, glowing with radiant energy whistles over Mals shoulder striking the Ghast she's facing off with in the face, it's black blood sizzling as the mystically imbued arrow strikes it. The creatures undead body falls backwards in a heap. The second arrow fires at another of the Ghasts but it ducks just out of the way and the arrow cracks into three pieces as it strikes the far wall.

Sickle has been quiet, pensive even since the incident with Mal and the ice yesterday. As the snarls emerge from the back of the room and the terrifying creatures come flying out of the dark, his stomach forms a pit, and he feels a since of fear welling up inside him, but he pushes it down and readies for battle.
Mal, Silas, if either of you are hit, also make another CON DC 10 or be paralyzed.
Ok, everyone's turn. Sickle delays. (I read his note, but the spike growth I'm not sure makes sense atm...he'll do it after everyone else goes if necessary.)

How does a red dragon blow out the candles on its birthday cake?
(OOC: Mal, the poisoning is from the "stench" of the creatures. The condition of being poisoned means you get disadvantage on your attack rolls, so you'll need to roll again for them.)
Silas slams the undead in the head, it drops to the ground in a heap. Two arrows, glittering with magic whistle past Mal, and the creature in front of her drops in a heap. Three scorching blasts his the last active attacker, and in flames the undead collapses. There are only the four undead hiding behind the statue now that remain. Silas moves forward. Even with the creatures on the far side, his spirits whip around them, and they shriek as they take more damage.
Sickle holds off on his spell, since nothing is threatening the group. Silas spell shreds at the creatures as they try to (slowly) get further away, but the space is too small, and a few moments later they crumble to the ground.
The stench of the creatures slowly begins to settle and the temple is yours. The undead are a bit unusual, each has a blue triangle that seems burned into their foreheads. Grenk, you know that this likely means a necromancer is involved in creating and controlling them. You saw similar marks on the undead in the jungle. The undead across Chult were once part of a powerful necromancers army, but their symbols were rotted and old. These blue triangles seem quite fresh.

(Trying to keep the ghasts separated unless they’ve fled for good. How about hold action until I hear or see them coming back, then I’ll throw spike growth in front of them)
Only once satisfied that the threat is ended, will Grenk stow his bow. Bending down he looks at the nearest corpse and examines the blue mark. He frowns in disgust he will examine each in turn and drag them to a corner. Then taking out his make he slams it i to the skull of each smashing it to a pulp. He will then collect any arrows that may have survived.
Turning to the others he says, "It was the work of a necromancer. Not in decades past like those out in the jungle. These were fresh made." A devilish smile crosses his face and he says, "I think it means we are on the right track. Means I was right to join up with ya. Now.. what's this puzzle business."
Silas will maintain the spirit guardians as long as he can just in case, "I will remain at distance should the puzzle present harm to anyone. I can provide guidance should you need if beforehand,"
