"I for one am all for secret tunnels," Vanzaren agrees. "Oh, almost forgot. A very nice lady down at the Miner's Exhange told me that if we can bring her Glassstaff's papers and proof of his death, she'll pay us 100 gold. Seeing as this man has already likely taken captive Sildar's friend, I accepted her terms."
"If they think it's secret, it might not be guarded." Ronk looks at the others. "I'm good at sneaking, but the rest of you might not be... Tunnels might be less risky long as we put the bad guys down fast."
"And there's the crux... crust... whatever the word is! That's just it anyhow. Depending on the layout of the entryway, it'd still rely on us being sneaky in the approach. Otherwise, all it takes is one getting spooked and or surviving first contact long enough to get inside." Marcon pointed out. "Heck! They might not even need to go all that far. At least the other way if'n it comes down to need'n to rush'em, at least we likely to come up against less resistance off the back. 'cause less people would be there, ya dig? 'cause again, the back door, as it were, ain't as popular as to warrant much foot traffic.... At least, that's what Ma would when I asked her 'bout bust'n up some goblin dens a way back. Usually avoid it with talk wit'em, but as you know, you don't always get that choice."

"Well that's another good reason for the kitchen. Now hear me out. While the kitchen entrance could just lead us to another tunnel, I'm willing to bet that originally the tunnel was an escape route for the manor residents and that the kitchen entrance was a secret passage to more rooms. I think we can all agree that the tunnel leads to a single destination. That destination being the area under the manor. So if a Redbrand hears a sound coming from the tunnel that means someone is coming, but if they hear a noise from somewhere already under the manor it could be just a fellow thug. So what say you Garet, tunnel or kitchen? I vote kitchen" "
The party wastes no time in making their way to the ruined manor house. Rotten doors have fallen off their hinges, and the party easily finds the empty ruin of a large kitchen which leads to an unlocked door. The door opens onto a ten-foot-wide landing fifteen feet above a large cellar, with stone steps descending to the floor in two short flights. Another door stands beneath the stairs to the north. A large stone cistern occupies the western part of the room, whose walls are lined with kegs and barrels. No individuals other than the party members are present.
Map Scale. Each box represents an area that is 10 feet square. (This is different from the source material, and gives the party a little more room to maneuver.)
Ceilings. Passages and chambers are 10 feet high unless otherwise indicated.
Doors. All doors are made of wood with iron handles, hinges, and built-in locks. They are unlocked unless the text states otherwise. A locked door can be picked with thieves’ tools and a successful DC 10 Dexterity check. A door can also be broken down with a successful DC 20 Strength check.
Light. Most areas are brightly lit by oil lamps in wall sconces, refilled every few hours as needed. (DM will indicate which areas do not have independent light sources.)
"Coast clear, so far. But keep ya'll eyes peeled, aight?" Marcon whispered back as he made his way down the stairs with at least a handaxes in hand for now. No effort as well is made to masking his steps, as no brand -- should -- have reason to worry about a fellow passing through, infrequently though the area may be visited by others. Still, he stayed alert, and would eventually stride over door beneath the stairs to the north.
Motioning at least for Rigel to be ready with his bow, he tries at least to open the door, and if able to, does so giving Rigel as clear a line of shot as he can. If no passing or guarding brand is in sight, he sighs in relief and closes the door. "Aight, let's give this room a quick scan. With any luck, we might be able to get some brand disguises. Make it easier for some of us at least to get close 'n get the jump on 'em, I think."He says as something akin to child-like glee creeps into whispered words and expression. It grows faint however as he looks to Garet and Ronk. "May, uh, may want you two to hang back just a tad bit whenever possible.... Unless they got bugbears work'n fer 'em, which... isn't impossible?" Marcon furrowed his brow at that, then shook his head. "Bettah safe than sorry. "

Vanzaren enters the room and starts to inspect the room, checking for any secrets that could be hiding somewhere. "Ah yes, disguises are a good idea, but don't forget that this place could be hiding other things too, best to be cautious and inspect every room as we come across it. You never know what we'll fine."

Marcon pulls open the door under the north stairs while Garet covers him. They find a darkened passageway, but no activity.
Rifling through the various barrels and boxes in the northwest corner of the room, Vanzaren discovers that they contain salted pork and beef, flour, sugar, apples, and ale.
Rigel discovers the presence of a secret door in the southwest corner of the room.
Ronk notices a small bag hanging from a peg on the south wall of the cistern, about 2 feet below the surface of the water.
Spit and Stopit hang back, lingering on the landing of the north stair.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Marcon would come over to look after motioning for the goblins to keep an eye on the door to the north. "What'cha found there, Ronk?"He glances in, and furrows his brow. "Huh... Well go on then, pull it on up for a looksee." As either Ronk or someone else looked into the satchel, noticing the door in the northwest out of the corner of his eyes, Marcon squints at it, then following moment's hesitation, creeps his way over for a peek inside the next room.
A wide-eyed Marcon just hurriedly motions for the others to his side, and then gestures hurriedly towards the door to the northwest. Once everyone is hopefully in place, or roughly ready for a scrap, he'll hold his axe at the ready while continue on to the door.
