Where do the sounds of battle seem to be coming from?

Wording is important apparently... The sound of battle is all around you, as if you were standing right in the middle of the fight but there is no any visible threat - pure sound, nothing else.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Perception check to see if he can discern the direction the sound is coming from. If he cant he will continue straight temporarily ignoring the right passage.
The noise is directionless - it is just around you. Not too loud either, as if an echo of a fight unfolding somewhere and brought to your ears by the capricious acoustic.
The passage to the right runs short to the side and ends up with the closed door. Should you peep inside - the room looks empty (though, it's dark and flooded, of course. But at least nothing attacked you at the door opening).
Once the group turned left - the sounds of combat intensified. Now you can hear not only weapon clashes but some grunting - muffled as if through the teeth, as if combatant are trying not to make too much noise or to show any weakness by screaming. You can see that corridors opens up in the big room at the end.
Adray has his spear out and Nibs already has his blades drawn. Moving further down the hall he'll peak out around the edge to see what's going on before they move in.
It's more about being quiet at the moment - if there is a battle out there (and according to sounds - there is) chances are people there are preoccupied, it's enough not being too noisy and flashy to get close enough to see something.
Polly is on Fran's back, so it's up to Fran to get close quietly, her roll for stealth.
That was not the best attempt of stealthy approach it the history but with additional cover from Polly (and assuming others stay behind) it worked for the time being.
The girls can see now a flooded chamber that opens up with rough hewn steps climbing to the south, north, and northeast. The floor buckles up above the water line in the middle of the room, forming a small island. Corpses and doused torches float in the water around the island, atop which two men circle each other with weapons bared. One of the men - a tall, unarmored brute with a great club and a scarred face - towers above his opponent but is gravely wounded. Torn noble outfit on him looks out of place. The smaller figure is muscular and bare chested - just black pants and boots. He clutches a bloody dagger in one hand and a torch in the other, and has no flesh covering his skull.
Adray relays the scene above to any who had not seen it. He then says, "Seems the two are fighting and if I had to guess, the one with the skull face is a cultist. Just a guess cause they was taking people for dirt on nobles and the other appears to have such nice clothes. I propose we team up and take the skull down together."
"Smashing skulls is my specialty,"says Choir in the voice of a Dwarf barbarian she once met. After that line, she should probably use her hammer, but instead she charges toward the fighters, crossbow in hand. With all the fightng noise, there doesn't seem any point in being stealthy.
Initiative once she gets there: 14
Attack: 23 Damage: 6

Fran would nod in agreement with Adray. "Aye. Skullface it is." She'd need both hands for her crossbow, and she wouldn't want to acid splash the noble... The artificer would pull out her trusty daggers.

Having no sooner said it, Choir was off running. Adray turned to Nibs and shrugged his shoulders and took off after as well. He wouldn't leave all the fun to Choir. As he sloshed through the water he called out. "Hey Noble, keep the cultist there. Reinforcements have arrived.
Adray will then lift the spear and hurl it at the skull guy. Nibs will similarly rush forward. He'll grab his hand axe from his side and chuck it at the man as well.
"It's over, Vaaz! I told you my allies will come for me!" Big man's voice is booming and echo answering in the corridors. The "skull man" is silent but he positioned himself in a way to see the new threat as well as his almost dead but still standing old enemy.
Vendetta bared her teeth - looking more "devilish" that ever - and with a high pitched yell, that add more chaos to the corridors echo, rushed at the cultist.
Fran would be quick to offer Polly another piggy back through this section.

Polly jumps up on Frans back and is ready to cast fire bolt!
Mmm... What about that right-hand passage? Passing by or enter?

Fran, at minimum, would peak down the right passage way if the others pass it by. It’d be part of her checking/securing their rear.

With seeing that door closed, Adray would assume the noise is coming from the north.
