Twiglet has a big bowl of stew yesterday so wasn’t really expecting to eat again so soon. His only hunting experience is with rats, which he’s pretty good at catching.
Also, he has no idea how to camp in the countryside. The sounds of the night time woods around them are frankly freaking him out a bit. He’s used to the city noise and the never quiet of the gang’s hideout...people coming and going and muttered conversations.
He’s going to have to learn quickly if these seasoned heroes will think him useful.
With these unhappy thoughts, Twiglet tries to tuck himself away in a crack between the provisions on the wagon, Roars in Silence’s bag looped through an arm for safe-keeping, and fitfully sleeps.
As Ilduarana and Roars look for food, they heard the sound of something moving through the undergrowth. Approaching they see a boar digging for roots.
The boar has not spotted either of you, so you both have a surprise attack. This happens when a creature detects an enemy that hasn't detected the creature. For example you roll Stealth to hide, and the enemy rolls Perception as they are on lookout/guard duty. If your score is higher than theirs, you get a surprise attack. After the surprise attack, combat follows initiative order.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Ilduarana moves slowly. She lived on a forest her whole life, nature is her friend, she can almoat float over the leaves... She hides carefully behind a tree...
Ilduarana's javelin flies true and hits the boar in the flank. It looks up in alarm for where the javelin came from. Not seeing anyone nearby, it decides that what hit it must have been a branch falling from the tree above. It looks at the hole it has been digging and then slowly walks away, obviously injured from the attack
Boar rolled a critical failure on Perception....
The boar is moving slowly enough that you can hit it again if you want

This one big goddamn boar. We have a good meal later, or maybe the boar have a small meal right now.
[As she reaches the boar she lashes out wildly with one blade. Then, not stopping to see whether her attack had any effect, she carries on straight past the boar and darts behind a tree on the beast's other side.]
Is this the right way to use a 'Hide' bonus action?
Stealth check: 18
Where in all hells is glowy elf? If I lucky she maybe brought some rage all her own.
OOC: In case I'm asleep when the next round of combat happens, here's what she does next:
Rage is my friend. Swords is my friend. This tree is my friend. No time for wasting
[She pivots out from behind the tree and charges at the boar]
1st Attack: 25 Damage: 7
Offhand Attack: Attack: 25 Damage: 8
(First attack, if she wasn't supposed to have advantage from hiding behind the tree: Attack: 17 Damage: 10 )
Roar's first attack connects and strikes the boar dead. You bring your kill back to the camp, where the rest of the party are happy to have something different than their travelling rations. After you all eat, you settle in for the night with those who have volunteered taking the first watch.
Roars in Silence peeks out from behind the tree and is surprised to see the boar already dead. It's only when she notices the javelin sticking out of its hide that she realizes the glow-y elf had probably already half-killed the thing well before Ro had even drawn her swords. As Ilduarana arrives Ro excitedly starts signing but she cuts herself off when she realizes the elf probably doesn't understand. Trying again, Ro points to the javelin, raises her eyebrows , and claps a few times. Then she realizes the two of them are going to have to drag the huge carcass back to camp and her enthusiasm dims somewhat.
Much later, as the rest of the party is falling asleep, Ro sits down next to Humblodt and hands him one of the boar's tusks. Then she pulls out a knife and starts attempting to whittle something out of the other tusk to pass the time.
The night passes with incident. As dawn starting to break, Gundren, eager to be on his way to find his brothers, wakes everyone up. He rushed around trying to help you all break camp and prepare for your journey to Phandelin. Sildar takes the front seat of one of the wagons and Gundren jumps up to sit next to him.
(OOC)
Someone needs to drive the second wagon which doesn't require any particular skills. There is a second seat beside the driver and you can assume that there is space in the back of the wagons if you want your characters to sit there. A description of where your character is and what they are doing while you travel would be nice :)
Twiglet has never driven a wagon but asks to sit up front with whoever does. He slept very well in the wagon, missed dinner but was very pleased to have cold boar for breakfast! He offers to be lookout, as he's often done it for the gang...
though its possible he'll get a perception penalty for not being used to the woods...jumping at the wrong things and the like
Ilduarana reads the goblin message, picks her javelin and hurries to help.
She concentrates on the surrounding sounds hoping for growlings or gruntings, a boar will be enough for the whole party.
Bold! Historically, as well as for a 1st level D&D character, a boar is a formidable prey!
She is just hoping ;)

Ilduarana sighs,. Perhaps some roots will be enough.

The boar seems to be more interested in it's digging, so it doesn't notice you
>The boar seems to be more interested in it's digging
Would that make it a "bored game"?
She prepares her javelin. Her arm in an angle, her steps soundless, holding her breath to not make a noise... She throws...

Initiative 11
Roars in Silence | Goblin | Barbarian
Boar is big but I made of rage.
[peeks]
It is a big boar.
[peeks again]
It is a very big boar
...This is maybe time for swords.
[She puts the daggers away and pulls out her scimitars]
It always a good day for rage. Rage is my friend. Always a good day for rage.
[She waits for the boar to pass her tree, takes a deep breath, then lunges at it from behind]
Attack: 23 Damage: 9
I wasn't sure if we get advantage on the boar due to the surprise attack. If I wasn't supposed to have advantage then here's a replacement roll:
Attack: 6 Damage: 10

Humblodt accepts the proffered boar's tusk with humble gratitude; a totem of a hunter's first kill is a potent auspice.
