A dark-feathered Kenku with a tattered brown cloak and hood covering his leather armor and shield stands over four bodies, each of them covered in wounds, drenched in ale, and wearing ripped-up clothes. A crossbow rests against his hip, and a rusty mace hangs from his belt. He looks up in surprise at the visitor. <Callie's voice> "You missed one hell of a barfight." <Grum's voice> "Someone else should definitely do the talking this time! "
Grum, a slightly sullen-looking half-orc who's standing over the last alive Redbrand, whirls around as he hears the doors open, drawing out a dagger with a faint blue glow.
"You just walked into trouble! We don't have time for a big old chat. As you can probably tell, we just killed some Redbrands. We didn't mean to, they started the fight. But we finished it. It's likely reinforcements are on their way, so right now you're either with us or against us. And we don't have much time, so I guess what I'm asking is, are you for or against the Redbrand bullies in this town?"
As he finishes saying all this, he registers what <Squelch> just said in his own voice. "Hey, I said I was sorry for that. I was just trying to get information out of them. Well, maybe there was some stubbornness too, refusing to be bossed around. Their arrogance made me angry." Grum turns to Callie and Brandor as well as <Squelch> and with a somewhat downcast look says, "I'll try to not let my emotions get the better of me in future. I'm not used to my actions having consequences for others."
Malthaza'ar suppresses a smirk as she surveys the scene. Stepping into the room, she flicks a glance behind her to scan quickly for any eavesdroppers. She leans gently on the bar and says, "Redbrands are no friends of mine. I'm just passing through. I'll happily lend you whatever tricks I have up my sleeve in exchange for safe passage. I..." a shadow passes over her face. "I don't plan to be here long. I go by Malthaza'ar. It is my pleasure to serve." She bows with a sardonic flourish.
As you al finish getting acquainted, your conversation is cut short as the Redbrand jolts awake, surprised at the sight before him. He's currently speechless, but eyeing you all wildly.
<Squelch> places his crossbow at the Redbrand's head and turns towards Malthaza'ar. <Young female's voice> "Welcome aboard, darling!" He then gestures towards himself. <Young man's voice, slight lisp> "Yer name is that gross noise? Like, the sound? Well I can't do that. I'm just gonna call you Squelch. Come on, let me introduce you to the rest of the crew."

Grum, slightly alarmed at the Redbrand coming to before they've got out of the building, recovers quickly and says to Brandor, "Well, I guess now we question him like you suggested and have to hope his friends don't come back too soon! You want to do the talking?"
Turning to the Redbrand he says, now with a hint of smug vindication in his voice, "We happened. Who is your boss?" Then Grum takes a step back to let Brandor get a little closer if he wants to.

Callie heaves a sigh of relief and runs a hand through her platinum blonde hair when the newcomer, Malthaza'ar, turns out to be friendly. "A pleasure to meet you, Malthaza'ar, you can call me Callie, Callie Ballard."
The Redbrand waking up catches her off guard, but only for a moment. Seeing that Grum and Brandor are doing the talking, she starts walking around to any windows and doors to the main room, keeping an eye out for any incoming surprises, and hopefully staying out of the way of the interrogation.
Brandor paces around the Redbrand tapping his staff against the floor boards. "Glasstaff eh? And where might we find this fella? And whats your operation, nobody sets up in a shitehole town like this without an angle!" The dwarf cracks his staff hard on the boards right next the the thug and stops pacing, "Tell us what we wanna know and you can go off and live the rest of your life. Honest like!"
To the half-elf he nods, "Miss, glad to have some company. You look the sort that likes a decent fight, you might have fallen into a swell one!"
Currently there is no one approaching, but on the far side towards the west you can see a farm through the trees, and a female halfing tending to the fence. Eyeballing it, it's about 200ft away and she's currently occupied on repairing the fence.
The Redbrand pulls against his restraints, and sucks his teeth every time you tap your staff, expecting to be hit each time. "We have a hideout under Trescendar Manor, you can get in through the kitchen there. And um... Our operation? I don't know. usually we would rob travelers on the road but Glasstaffs been kind of mad recently, he kept yelling at us to put pressure on the town and scare off any adventurers. He also hired these ******* bugbears for no ******* reason but-" Catching himself getting off track, he shakes his head as you tap your staff again."Please just turn me in to the town master, I swear I won't cause no more trouble."

Brandor nods and steps in close. He gets within a few inches of the boy's face staring him eye to eye for more than a few seconds. "I believe you and I want you to believe me." The monk pulls up the sleeve of his shirt showing a marred and burned tattoo. The remnants of an old bandit sigil nearly indistinguishable at the edges. "I've been where you are and you can get out. Make a life. It ain't easy but it's less deadly." The dwarf steps back and straights his back, "But if you still like dangerous, you can always go about thump'n other thugs and try'n to set THEM on the straight and narrow!"
"Before we let you wander...Are you sure there isn't anything else you want to tell us about?"
(That's not me rolling Intimidation, that makes Brandor roll with advantage, right? So I guess Brandor rolls again and takes that result if its higher than the 10 already rolled? Since Brandor's Intimidation modifier is better than Grum's, that makes sense, right?)
"This Glasstaff person uses magic? What kind of magic?"
Whilst waiting for an answer, Grum turns to Brandor and says, "Do we kill him now so he can't rat us out to his buddies? He's clearly run out of useful information. Or do we believe that he's going to make a fresh start as some kind of children's entertainer?"
"I dunno, just some basic magic but I haven't seen lots of it before. I know he uses his staff to shoot these magic dart things that always hit somehow. Sometimes he hits the Bugbears with it.."
<Squelch> places a hand on Grum. <Redbrand's voice> "Please just turn me in to the town master." He points to the door. <Grum's voice> "..we can sneak unseen away from here to the Stonehill Inn.." followed by <sound of clock ticking> then <Redbrand's voice> "We have a hideout under Trescendar Manor."
